As a child in the 80’s, I mailed off $21.50 and 4 robot points to get Prime. Hasbro sent me a package. In it was a letter saying they were out of Optimus Prime (he was offered the next year as a mail away again). Hasbro returned the check my mom wrote. Gave me 10 robot points, Ratchet, Wheeljack and Thundercracker for free. I still think I got treated great by Hasbro on that issue. Then in late 1992, I saw G2 Prime. I got him and still have it in excellent condition.

Man I miss mine. Remember on my birthday my dad taking me to the store and that's what I got. Moved out of parents in 2k. Truck and trailer disappeared some time ago but my kids found the sound box. Original battery and still works.

You can fix the launcher for roller. It will launch VERY fast upon the fix. Take the bottom of the trailer apart. You will see a rectangle molded in to the bottom side of where the GO sticker is. Cut the rectangle off with a razor blade. Then reassemble trailer wheels on to trailer. Screw in holes and BINGO. PS It's not a gas pump. Package says it is. It's actually welding torch. Looks just like one and, that's what it's called in the Diaclone instructions. Stupid Hasbro.

Awesome g2 Prime! I had this toy when I was about 7 years old! Played with it all the time. A true classic. I now collect them and have 2 g2s and a g1! Great video!

Nice video, brings back memories. But I had the G1 Optimus Prime got it as a gift back in 1985 spring and the missile launchers in the trailer never launched the missiles. They had it disabled. They removed the springs. All G1 figures couldn't fire missiles, what I learned a long time ago is when they brought these figures over they disabled all firing mechanisms because of toy restrictions at the time. When G2 came out they were given missile launchers that worked. Just a little info I thought you'd like to know. Even my G1 Ultra Magnus missiles didn't fire too.

I don't have any of the original paper work or packaging so I can't say for sure if the reefer was also intended to be a back pack. However, I always used it in that manner back then, so I must have seen that somewhere, possibly in the original instructions?
Anyways, the reefer had a little adapter for a couple of button cells so the voice and sounds could be activated from outside of the packaging. But this was also removable so you could install two AA batteries. However, I found that to make it way too heavy to hang off of Prime's back in bot mode, so I kept the button cell adapter.
This release also introduced that notch/slot in the back, which I presume was meant to hang the reefer unit off of. The original G1 production of Optimus Prime never had that. But that slot was in every subsequent re-issue, starting with G2 so it's a good visual indicator on whether or not a Prime is a re-issue or not.
I found the black plastic of the G2 trailer to be softer and more flexible than the original, or any of the subsequent re-issues.

You know, If I could get any kind of trailer for my Siege Optimus Prime, it would be in those exact colors.
I know someone who got the Netflix version with the darker colors, combined it with a black trailer (not sure from what version) and a set of Toyhax stickers to make their own G2 Prime.
It looks amazing but costs way too much to put together IMO.

I've never given it much thought. The fact that they would give Prime, the autobot leader, a rank of 8.9 tells me they were just plugging in numbers and not giving it much thought.

I theorized engineers should work on g1 ol' toys to put some upgrades
better joints, better resemblances and about optimus prime a backpack thruster you link in that void you have on the back of optimus. Old toys undergone a betterment process, not just to create new toys, a process to "masterpiece" the old toys.
I've always wanted to see that as well!

Second, he comes with an electronic "sound and lights module" that can either plug into the front of the trailer (where it resembles a trailer refrigeration unit), or hook onto Optimus's back in robot mode via a new slot retooled into the cab robot. Unfortunately, the soundbox is heavy enough that doing so can often overpower Prime's hip joints, causing him to topple backward. "

My g1 prime didn't have a rub sticker. That came out later. Plus I don't remember the launcher going out far. It came out far enough to launch roller off the back of the trailer.

Mine w as birthday present 93,They had to remove the Spring loaded for th eshort missles due to safety issues same with Launcher.Why the launchers on the jets were redesigned.

Some of the other figures like starscream had the power pack (as its called in the commercial) and it was smaller than the one for Optimus and it could mount on the figure so that's probably were you got the idea of Optimus being able to do that, but great review, I already have the original g1 version and some of the rereleases but I might get this one if I find it for a good deal because it looks awesome.

Forget his rifle that he at one point couldn't even hold those guns are the real deal (I want TF video game crossover toys like mariomus prime with the Mario M instead of the autobot logos and A rifle that shoots plastic fireballs and maybe a redesign of beast wars megatron as bowser also I'd like maybe a bumblebee pikachu, an ultra manus with Luigi colors, and a 3rd party character to finish it off like maybe cheetor as sonic with a blades tails)
Yes, it is unrelated to the joke but I think maybe bert can do the repaints if possible considering he did many customs and relabeling when it came to the G1 laser prime to the Mcdonalds animated optimus prime man that was good I'd like to see what he can do with the other Mcd animated toys and the armada prime he reviewed a while back

Kevin De Bondt Either hole on the front and the top of the trailer could both be used to have the drone out while in truck mode. Made for a cool 'weapon' mode. We used to do it all the time as kids back in the G1 days :D
@@BertTheStormtrooper I'm from 87 so I sadly just missed G1. My first introduction to Transformers were the VHS tapes and comic books. They were loaded with adverts. You can imagine how child me was drooling all over these toys but no way to get them.. Atleast I later got G2 Optimus and G2 Megatron! Never wanted any of the G2 because they weren't the Transformers that I grew to love from the comics.. I suppose that makes me a G1 kid from the 90's!
