Very few views for such a good review! Do you by any chance know if they will release if not the same, simmilar keyboard but with both 2.4ghz and bluetooth mode (also wired). Thanks!
My views sometimes take a bit to get going. Fortunately this one has held out long enough that I think it should do above average for a channel my size, albeit a bit slower than I would like. 😅 As for similar keyboards, I don't know of any upcoming boards that have the exact same layout with the numpad and wireless connectivity. However, I wouldn't be surprised if they do plan on it since they did something similar with the Horus. Both the full sized and TKL versions of that keyboard are available in wired only and wireless variants.
Ah, Redragon! My very first mechanical keyboard that now led me to my beloved Corsair K70. If you don't care about customization and all the extra bells and whistles you get with more expensive brand name keyboards, then you can't really go wrong with one of these! Seriously though, if the Redragon had a volume wheel and dedicated media buttons, I wouldn't have felt a need to switch.
@@ClyFaker late reply but i already know its k621 ;) sadly i bricked mine trying it out with open rgb 😔 i am currently using a chinese membrane keyboard that has more chinese characters on it than english alphabets 😂
@@RNSNC1SD34D Do you think reflashing the firmware will help unbrick it? You might want to reach out to Redragon customer support to see if they have a firmware updater for your model. redragonshop.com/pages/contact-us
@@ClyFaker yep the whole she-bang was convoluted but basic the chip inside the kb is a low grade sinowealth chip who's architecture is unknown so there isnt any way to unbrick it. its ok tho got a little used to this chinese kb i have rn 😅
it's great to know that producers are sending their latest product in for review. I'm sure thay appreciate your work as much as we do. BTW - Redragon also sells a game pad - the REDRAGON HARROW. maybe one day they will send that as well fo review 😁😁
I can almost guarantee they will. They've already sent me over of their headsets to review after finding some of those reviews on my channel, so a gamepad will probably be offered after I review those two I found at Five Below. I still have two more of their keyboards to review too. 😅
Mythology lesson plus keyboard review. 👍 Kind of a downer about the key puller accessories, I guess they expect the 60% buyers to be more likely to be upgraders maybe?
Very likely. Fortunately decent pullers aren't expensive. I've seen combo pullers that have the wire cap puller on one end and a tweezer style switch puller on the other for around $5 on Amazon. It would be pretty neat if Redragon included one of those with their logo on it. I know Royal Kludge does that.
I don't know if I can get my hands on the Zed Pro since I'm only seeing AliExpress listings, but it looks similar to the Pollux Pro. If it is, then you're in luck because I'm working on a review of that and the Castor Pro right now.
This is a very good review video. I like how you explain the keys and switches. I'm currently looking for a keyboard with numpad but without f keys. I had found the skyloong SK71 with similar layout to pollux. But unfortunately these two doesn't have the extra column at the right side of the numpad for enter, plus, and minus keys. The only things that have the perfect layout are from groupbuys that sadly are unreachable for me.
You might want to look into external numpads. They'll keep your setup compact while giving you all of the functionality you need. The only real issue is that they're not physically connected to your main keyboard, and that can throw some people off with their muscle memory.
Thanks for such a wonderful review in detail. Last week I brought one for my professional and personal workplace. But I am facing one issue- the num key in number pad keys would be used for locking and unlocking the num keys so far I recall. Is there any particular key combination to lock/unlock the number pad keys using the num key?
The right shift, alt, fn, and ctrl's size are uncommon isn't it? Its different than the usual, it might be hard to find a compatible keycaps. Also, is it possible to change the input of numpad to f row? Maybe using via or qmk?
Yes and no on the key size. Yes they aren't the standard size seen on other keyboard profiles, but the majority of the 65% keyboards I've seen are using that style of cap for those keys. Since the Pollux is pretty much a 65% + a numpad it makes sense that they would use it. There are quite a few cap sets out there that'll fit, though sadly they're not the cheapest. As for rebinding the numpad, you might be able to either with the official software (recently released on their site) or through another program.
nice review 👍 but how about the compatibility with linux? cos in Amazon says "caution with MAC". I just wanted to know if someone has this keyboard working with ubuntu 20.04 cos I really love the design. 🙏help me with that pls
@@ClyFaker alright man, thank you. i bought the z11 and i am really interested in akko cs switches but not sure if i should buy them as i am not sure about their compatibility.
@Cly Faker, since you have both the Castor and the Pollux, in terms of height and thickness, is it the same case for both of them? since Pollux is 75% and Castor is 68%, the width must be different, but apart from the width, i'm curious if both keyboards are identical. because of your Castor Video, i just bought that keyboard (thank you for replying on my comment in that video). now i want another keyboard so i could type like in this video ruclips.net/video/xgGrGD-WUe4/видео.html if the case is not identical (apart from the width) i won't buy the pollux. lastly, thank you for reviewing keyboard with so much depth and detail, you officially make me buy my first mechanical keyboard.
Sorry for the late reply. I have my channel set up to automatically flag posts with links, and I don't check my spam filter frequently. 😅 I just checked side by side, and both keyboards are identical in every way by the width. That said, you might want to wait a bit before ordering the Pollux, since there's a Pro version coming that has wireless capabilities and a red and black color scheme (I can't remember if it'll be available in plain black as well).
@@ClyFaker dayum thanks for the intel on the "Pro" version. but i'm afraid the "Pro" version will have a different case, so i'll buy the regular Pollux for now.
@@ClyFaker hi Cly, i saw on Redragon's Website they have already released the PRO version of the K628 Wireless. thank god i waited because of your advice. will you be making a video for it? i would love to see your detailed review on the keyboard. about the size, the switch compatibility. and if you could, can you put the K631-RGB right beside the K628 Wireless? does it match height wise (since you told me it is a similar board) to end it, just wanna say i love your content, how detailed and in depth it is. thanks for helping me get the K631-RGB.
I have the pro versions of both the Castor and the Pollux ready to be reviewed. I just need to find the time to do it. Got thrown off schedule for a bit recently. 😅
This channel is super underrated, always producing great content!

i kinda remember coolermaster used to make (in 2017 2018 i think) a similar board with cherry green switches

It is, and it even has 5 pin compatible universal switch sockets. There's also a version with wireless pro version out.
Where did you buy the cable in the thumbnail?
I made it. I don't currently have any plans to sell them, but at some point I'm planning on making a tutorial video about how I did it.

I completely agree.
The K628 Pro Pollux/Castor are BT/2.4Ghz/Wired. Were released about 30days ago. Hopefully Cly gets one in and can put up his link. 👍

so i can use gateron switch with this keyboard?
Yes, it handles Gateron switches just fine.
K628 or k630 which would be better overall
Is there any keyboard in the market that I could use it wired and bluetooth? Just like the Redragon M913 Impact Elite Mouse. Thank you a lot!
I'm a bit late to answer this, but there is a version of this keyboard coming that works both wirelessly and wired. 👍
I have never seen that layout
Neither had I. I've seen similar, but those are usually 96 or so keyboards that cram in a bit more and end up losing the sleekness.
what's the difference between k628 pollux to k628 pro
The K628 Pro has a few additional wireless modes while this one is wired only.
