Man, what's with the misconception that Dedede's always out to kill Kirby? He's only ever been a true villain, like, twice in the whole series.

Dededeeds Done Dirt Cheap is probably one of the best characters in Kirby imo. Maybe it's his design. Maybe it's the meme. He's pretty cool, though.
Dedede just stole food once, got revenge on Kirby, stole the Star Rod (in Avalanche), raced with Kirby twice and has been possessed 5 TIMES. Hell, Kirby just beat up Dedede all those other times because of a misconception or just for no reason. Normal Dedede was really a boss in most of the games for no reason. Hell, in Dream Land and Tilt n Tumble, Kirby actually comforted him when he was defeated. I think that's why most fans think that.

Invaders from the Dark is very good for a fan game.
Kirby is far from pure, he lashes cute little creatures to death with a whip among other things.

Because Kirby games don't have anything to offer in terms of game mechanics. It very difficult to fuck up something that isn't there. With the gamebreaking ability to fly over everything, you don't care about the control or the level design.
Mario, Sonic and Mega Man games are far more demanding in terms of design and control. When they're bad, you can feel their badness. You can feel bad control and bad level design in those games. Kirby is not really a demanding game, but rather a series of toys to play with.
Kirby games are always good, never awful, but at the same time, never great either.

Game Maker gets a bad rep but in the hands of competent devs it can be pretty good. Just look at Spelunky, Undertale, Hotline Miami, Hyper Light Drifter, and Nidhogg
Yeah anything can be used to make bad games, its not the tech but the people using it (well MAYBE it could be the tech BUT MOSTLY the people).

Valdis Story and Risk of Rain are also excellent examples of what Game Maker is capable of.

I find it weird that Kirby: Invaders from the Dark was sent to you as a "bad" Kirby game. It's literally one of the only Kirby fangames I know of that try to act more like a traditional game than a minigame or a spinoff.

Seconded, some sick fan Copy Abilities can be pulled off with a GOOD engine unlike a lot of Kirby Game Maker fangames.
There's this fanmade remake of Kirby's Dream Land being made, there's a demo out with two levels and the engine is pretty darn close to what the GBA Kirby games were.

Of all the shit going on in the unstable mess that is Super Kirby, the thing that really sealed the deal for me was when the question mark block at 36:48 got activated by Vinny landing on top of it.
Like, the game is so fucked that it can't even follow basic platforming conventions without screwing up.

I noticed that too. That soundtrack was freaking rad, and not something you'd think to find in a Nintendo game.
But, to be honest, there's a LOT of N64 games that had that feel with their soundtracks.
I love that game.
Super Kirby is by far the best one. The way it's so incompetently made in just so innocent and endearing. I really love how the designer got tired of making levels and just made one with a bunch of platforms floating in the air.
My favorite one is the last one. That broken music, the broken graphics and broken game play. It's so good!

When I was still highschool our programming teacher taught us how to use game maker for the second semester, I made a really dumb sonic game, but our teacher was hard of hearing and game maker games where already loud, and one of my classmates made a Digimon fan game, it was just solitaire with digimon cards. Our teacher has to play the games to review them for our final grade.
Long story short while we were making the final touches on our games we where all freaked out by HEY DIGIMON, HEY DIGIMON, MONSTER FRIENDS TO THE BOYS AND GIRLS, he got an A because solitaire, but I would had gave him a F for game volume

Kirby is one of the most solid game series out there.
Ignoring the spinoffs, there are really no bad Kirby games, sure some are average (Kirby Squeak Squad comes to mind) but none have really been bad

Game maker isn't actually very easy to use in my experience, their aren't templates or defaults. The thing is just making a damn shitty breakout copy takes alot of patients and thought.

The second one was actually the closest to a Kirby game out of all of them.

the astaroid game was developed in a program called The Games Factory. with that stock TGF sound effect I'm going to bet it was made by the old version made around the 1998 era.
The gam file is a raw TGF file, if you had the software you can go in and see the game'ssource materials and even edit it.
Paint Roller's boss song was actually a midi version of a song from Bomberman Hero. Gg.
It sounded like Vinny was reciting a song or something at 4:12 It was even in-tune with the song.

Earthing is one of my favorite Bowie albums, and that song is what got me to wake up and go "Wow, this album is actually really good." I thought Vinny would be more of a classics man, which he is in a lot of ways regardless - hearing him talk about Earthling was unexpected and awesome.
The reason why there are no Kirby Super Star Hacks is because, IIRC, that game doesn't even have it's ROM mapped completely. Anybody who wanted to hack it would have to do so completely from scratch.

12:36 leading into 13:04 ... Between Vinny's quiet acceptance and the midi music, I couldn't breathe.
In my searches, I've never been able to find a decently good Kirby fangame, at least that does a good job replicating the core mechanics of the series. There are a few for Mario, a bunch for Sonic and Pokemon, even a couple Zelda ones. But never Kirby. It's actually kinda sad.
I guess because Kirby is usually always good, then people don't try as hard (not saying the ones you said aren't...ehhh maybe Sonic sometimes). but yeah its pretty lame.
I'd agree with that but Mario, Pokemon and Zelda are pretty consistently good and they have a bunch of shit fangames along with their few good ones. Sonic is definitely iffy, but the good games outweigh the bad. I think the primary reason with that series in particular (because with Classic, Worlds, Chrono Adventure, Before the Sequel, ATS, and many others) is that Sonic's engine and rolling physics are probably hardest to master from a programming standpoint. During that 2005-2009 period where there were almost zero good games in the series, a lot of fans rose to the challenge of recreating the engine, and since most of those engines had their source codes released, it's become easy to create a Sonic fangame with that template and a knowledge of good level design.

The second one (Invaders from the Dark) is pretty damn impressive for GameMaker. Kind of dated by todays standards but still better than a lot of crud made with the Hello Engine that's posted onto MFGG these days.
Gam-files are the files that gets generated through Klik 'n Play, Clik 'n Create, The Games Factory, and I think you can do it in Multimedia Fusion as well as an option. So there you go. First game is used using Klik n Play most likely. Has the same sound effects as in that creation tool.

The big problem I see with "Invaders from the Dark" is the low damage Kirby deals. A big thing in Kirby is that many enemies are defeated in one hit.

How to make a kirby fan game:
1.Obnoxiously loud music on the title screen
2.Controls being shown in a game maker message box, so that the screen recorder won't be able to see it
3.Make the gameplay be a shoot shoot and have green greens MIDI at the background
4.Have the Scoreboard write 7 times when there's no high score
5.That's it.
I love how the second game has quite a bit of Bomberman music in it. Stuff I remember hearing Bomberman Hero, but most likely is used in most of the older Bomberman titles. Or just midi remakes.
.gam is a file extension for older versions of clickteam fusion (game maker-like software to make games).

Kirby Invaders of the Dark is surprisingly quite enjoyable.
