Rivian R1T Delivery Day

- Опубликовано: 7 июн 2024
- In this video, I share with you my Rivian R1T delivery day. The process is very similar to Tesla with some hand holding so if it’s your first EV, it’s not a big shock with the process whereas with Tesla, mostly everything is automated and it’s difficult to talk to someone. Also, just like with Tesla, there are some issues with the car during delivery day.
The first part of the video is the delivery day, while the second part was record about a week later. I also go over the final cost of insurance. Abby also took a drive for the first time and share her reactions to the truck.

Those insurance prices are insane. We’re feeling it too.
Got the same spec about 2 months ago in Vancouver and it was a July 23 build with 90 KMS as well. They definitely give them a good run before delivery
congrats to us. been a lot of fun driving it. ya it was fairly “high” on the odometer but it’s probably from moving them around since they were built almost a year ago.
Congratulations and great looking R1T! What's the residual value after your lease ends? Sorry if i missed it in your other videos!
According to the docs it is $48,152.50
@@sherwinm are you considering purchasing it after? or no chance?
@@wai00che00 It's too early to tell but here are some things I'd like to share...
- I've driven over 1200 miles in 10 days. At this rate, it would be best to buy instead of returning it and paying overage fees 😅. So it's been hanging out on the driveway for the last week or so.
- It is very fun to drive. Is it fun because it's a Rivian, or because it's a truck? I'd say a little bit of both
- In 3 years when the lease is over, Rivian may have a newer R1T or maybe other competition. But definitely I want a truck on the driveway for sure.
- What's great is I have the option to purchase after the lease unlike Tesla. But one thing to consider is if I finance the rest, it will fall under used car and the rates could be worse than a new car.
Many things to consider but it's been a fun truck. Not perfect but fun. I plan to do a closer look video and more comparison videos. I've been on two road trips. I recently uploaded a Vegas trip earlier today. ruclips.net/video/swhXersidOk/видео.html
@@sherwinm thanks! I love an R1T to be my first truck. I'm patiently waiting and debating myself!
Good luck. I hope my videos will give some insight and help with your decision. Go for a demo drive. I also have a video on that as well.
Just weird- truck has been built for over a half a year but they had you wait two months for delivery. I ordered my 2024 R1T in February and took delivery two weeks later.
Not two months. Ordered March 14, delivery was March 27. Just under 2 weeks. It may have been sitting at the factory in Illinois and took that long to transport it 🤷♂
@@sherwinm ah ok, thought I heard you say two months in the video
Same insurance quotes in Colorado. I have a Raptor, Model S and a MDX. Same price as you. I’m looking at trading the Raptor for a R1T.
ya that sucks. it's so expensive. good luck with the trade in. i've been having a lot of fun with the R1T.
Congrats!! I do have to say, the Rivian sound system is really bad. Change the preset to “Rock” and it’ll sound a little better
Thank you. I will try that.
I happy You said you will never Go back to Gas⛽ , I learnt is very Amazing , very cool Driving An EV🚗 ,they said it Something else Very Smooth ETC , Enjoy your RIVIAN Sir 👍👍👍That $80.000 DALARS more or less EV 🚗 you are Chilling with nice 👍👍👍
Thank you. For our situation, it’s more affordable and convenient to drive EVs. Currently, gas is over $5/gallon in California.
I hate California…. I get my R1T next month 🎉
Good luck and congrats. Pls let me know how it goes. If you have any delivery issues. Just seems that the harder you work, the more you're being "punished" 😐.
No truer statement for Californians ….
I’m not sure why anyone loves in CA. Beuller? Beuller?
I have a 2023 model s performance, a 2023 Chevy Bolt Euv and a first year teenage driver of a 2005 Toyota 4runner and paying 1500 every 6 months with Costco insurance, which is Connect. This price was with the black executive card. I also combined my home insurance with large savings. Give it a look.
I've tried before. Costco is currently not taking in new policy in California. Many aren't and if they do, they want all your cars and home.
@sherwinm I had my cars and home through Geico and saved 6000 dollars through Connect, with better home coverage. It may be worth it.
@@tmorcos21 Thanks, I'll have a look.
@@sherwinm Good luck. It never hurts to try, especially if you have a good driving record
Congrats! And wait a minute…I could have had Tesla Uber me to pick up my cars?!?! Aww man!
Thank you.
Yes, Tesla had Uber for delivery day. But I don't think they offer it anymore.
I wish you would of bought a cyber truck...try state farm insurance...
I tried State Farm. That was my previous insurance. Rates are similar to Nationwide.
I have my reservation for the cybertruck but my turn won't be for a while. Maybe when the lease is up, it'll be my turn. But I prefer the R1T's looks over the CT. 😀
The Rivian Soundsystem flat out sucks
I was trying to be "fair" haha. I heard the original Meridian system was better than the current Rivian in-house Elevation brand. I have the Rivian branded system. I've seen someone added an amp and sub under the second row seats. I may talk to him about it. But we'll see how "destructive" the mod is since this is a lease. It's fine, I can live with it I guess. I've taken two road trips already.
@@sherwinm definitely an area that Tesla absolutely crushes Rivian. For some people audio quality literally means nothing but for people like me it means everything.
@@teslatalk42069 yes, agreed
I’m torn between the el cap or limestone
@@vinnym5095 both colors are nice. that el cap with a stealth PPF (free on orders in April 2024) would look really nice. I went with the lighter color because i don't have time to wash my cars. I think dust and dirt shows up more on darker colors. either one is nice in my opinion.
Yeah buying 6 EV cars because gas is expensive? Wtf😂
Yes
The last 4 EVs we paid cash so no interest payments to make them more expensive. One we sold and was basically "free" minus our use because of "pandemic" pricing of used cars. Another, Tesla bought back and we made $20K because of price drops.
We've owned gas and hybrid and now EVs. We've taken them all on road trips. I have 120 mile work commute. I need to do oil change every 2-3 months. I reach those "belts" maintenance in about 2 years. So in terms of maintenance, yes we save money.
We live in California, currently gas is $5/gallon. Just my work commute alone, I easily save money on fuel cost and maintenance.
We have solar at home and charge our cars at home. Pretty much free. Solar is paid off.
So, yes. In our situation we definitely save money. I invite you to check out our road trip videos. At the end of them, I break down costs and compare to gas. Our results is not a guarantee for everyone.
WTF indeed :)
