Just picked up a 105, the big brother to the 85. Loved your video especially your helper...reminded me if my son who always helped dad years ago. Now his kids help him! God Bless!
Thanks for the vid! My neighbor got a 105f and took it to a local company to replace the wick...they told her its shot and get a new heater and sent it back to her in pieces. I used your video to put it all back together and put in a new wick...and big surprise it works totally fine and is almost like new, lol. Just glad she will have the extra heat for winter this year...thanks much.

@@JOEZEP54 the place services and maintenances HVAC is about all i know. I think they looked at it as one of the newer heaters with the retractable wick and this one don't have that, or they thought the wick gear was shot, but you have to pull it out for the gear to engage. Only thing i can think as to why they said it was shot. But like i said, the heater is like new almost no rust even in it. She purchased it from a older lady that only used it a few times on really cold days. Heck...its cleaner than my newer 3 year old heater....lol.
there is a three position switch that is behind the flame dial that must be set on number 1 for new wick. There are three different settings, 1 2 3.... new wicks get set to 1.... as needed you adjust to 2 and 3 before changing the wick, as you can clean the top of the wick. Glad to see your helper is young and interested

Now John knows how to change the wick when you hand it down to him. I have the omni 85 my grandma bought back in the 80s. It still works fine. The ignitor battery box broke off. I can't get a replacement so i just use a lighter. I also replaced the mica windows because they were sooted up.
Thank you for watching & your kind comment. They do last & give off a lot of heat. It is getting harder to find kerosene in my area. Only 1 gas station about 20 miles away & it has the red dye in it. At the HD it goes for 11.95 a gallon. Hope you get to visit my channel again. Keep warm & stay safe, Joe Z
@@electromech7335 Last year fuel oil & kerosene were higher than gas. I asked why, no road tax etc. Should be less. the one station that was close to me ( no longer sells kerosene) well I am the only one that sells it.

Wow, they haven't made this model in like forever, but that thing looks brand new! Pristine condition. Wish mine looked even half as good as that. I'm a bit curious why you titled this video Omni 105 when it's an 85 you've got there. Yeah they are similar but why make that the title.
Thank you for watching & commenting. Good catch. I had to go look. I am only guessing at this point. I had another kerosene heater that was similar & may have used that model # in the title. Or got that model # off the wick package. What was I thinking LOL Thanks again and stay well, Joe Z
