    Nice choices. Your videos always help me cope with Sunday mornings and the week ahead.
    Re: Allen Edmonds, my dad used to wear their shoes almost exclusively when he was working at a job that required formal attire. He's retired, so there's been no need to keep up with the brand's current offerings, but my impression was that they made durable, timeless shoes. I was a bit too young to really appreciate them, but I know he'd get a pair or two every year in slightly different shades when they were discounted. Mostly tassel loafers. They'd last years with a bit of care. He took pride in their being made in the USA. At least in the 80s-early 00s, they seemed to maintain reliable standards. He'd joke how colleagues would pay 2-3x more for Gucci and other Italian made shoes and it was so soft and supple that it'd wear out in a season. His were built more like little tanks.
    I have a single pair of their loafers gifted in the early 00s when I was off to college. Aside from some wear at the back heels, they still look nearly new. Of course, in your early twenties, you aren't likely to favor your father's favorite shoes so they were never worn to death, but I kept them and have found that they have come in handy more recently. They were even unexpectedly trendy a little while back. An ironic little twist!

    Loved this style of video. New ideas and great analysis.

    The quality of J. Crew definitely DOES NOT justify the price. Wait until the items are 40% or 60% off, which they inevitably will be as new season items come in. The brand leans too heavily on their "heritage" branding but the majority of the items are made on the cheap in china. The Wallace & Barnes sub-label is better quality for the price. Love your content, Man! Cheers!

      Yeah I like the look of their stuff but the prices don’t seem to match up. I see a lot of brands relying on their heritage, it’s a bit of a scam! Thanks for watching!

    JCrew actually has very good quality clothes,but the prices are getting stupid.
    I live in USA, and 2024 is looming very ominously! Really like when you showcase looks like this!

      Yeah they seem unreasonable. In the UK they are even higher! Thanks for watching 😀

      they're one of those brands that has frequent VERY deep sales (like "extra 60% off sale items" type stuff), so definitely wouldn't recommend paying full price for anything. it's a really commonly recommended brand here in the US to those trying to build out a timeless wardrobe on a budget @@JamesLeung

      allen edmonds is similarly in that "timeless, great quality, a great buy on sale" category. a bit dad-ish, but their Park Avenue oxfords are particularly popular here in the US.

    In my experience, J Crew was a very good value at one time. They provided a gateway for beginner style enthusiasts to explore a variety of traditional styles, at a price not too far above Gap/ Old Navy. It seems within the past couple of years, their prices have increased with no real increase in quality. They do however make great leather footwear, some even GYW. That being said, the quality is not bad at all, but not at full retail price.

      Very interesting thank you! I would love to try some of their pieces but they seem to be really expensive in the UK

    J. Crew is okay quality. The prices don’t line up with the quality tho id wait for a sale on any item. Allen Edmunds it’s the same deal, good quality especially their dress shoes. They have sales every few months so id never recommend buying full price

      Yeah that’s what I keep hearing. Crazy prices! I’m always keen to wait for the sales, never buy anything full price these days haha. Thanks for watching

    I came across GU when I was in Japan. The brand offers great minimal basics at affordable prices, but lately it has become a bit touristy and the lines at the checkouts are very crowded. I would rather shop at other Japanese brands like Wego, where most locals shop. They even have a secondhand section, but I personally can't stand the smell of vintage clothes lol.

    • @JamesLeung
      @JamesLeung  5 месяцев назад

      Sounds interesting, so they’re just Japan only? Not heard of Wego before. I bet there’s lots of great Japanese shops about! Haha I know what you mean about that musty smell.

    • @silviacarvalho90
      @silviacarvalho90 5 месяцев назад

      @@JamesLeung I think so. Unfortunately, most Japanese brands are only sold in Japan, and even if that were the case, customs duties would certainly be expensive, especially in Europe. Hysteric Glamour was also very popular in the 2000s, so I’m not surprised that the brand is trending again, particularly with the rise of y2k fashion!

    When I see people wearing outfits that are ike $1500 I just think that's a waste. You can find very similar pieces and get a very similar feel for less than half. People buy branded stuff way too much. Like Goral for example, they make extremely premium leather boots and sneakers and you can get them for $200-$300. Where as people will blow like $800 on some dumb Gucci shoes that are way lower quality.

      Very good points 👍 sometimes the quality does match the price but not always. I like to get value for money!
