"And this has nothing to do with any consideration of improving my public image by associating myself with caring and compassionate causes." Some things never change XD
I sorely miss the trio: PM, Sir HA, & Bernard. This comedy brings back happy memories of those old and good days of my sojourn in the UK. I wish I could turn back the clock.
@@Sardonic100 It's referencing another clip where he's filming an address but they have to keep cutting for various reasons, a common one being that he's leaning forward over the desk rather than sitting up straight.
Jim Hacker's character was incompetent - yes, but you always you got the feeling that underneath was a decent man. His utter helplessness regarding the detonators being used by nasty people showed that - and Paul Eddington's genius was to play him flip flopping trying to work out what was best for him/country/headlines !
He appears to be much more a PM than most PMs. How much joy he brought to all
Paul Eddington is amazing. He should have gotten a bafta. RIP.
that was Sir Humphrey who got the BAFTA every time
It would be better to say he should have "recieved" a baft
0/ 10 for English.
Paul Eddington was absolutely amazing.

Decades down the line and he still makes me laugh
Brilliant actor, wished he got more recognition. RIP. Watching the series for the second time.
Ten onerous days in Jamaica and Barbados.

the pause '.....almost saintly'
I almost forgot he wasn't prime minister.
I like how they never took a side in politics. They just showed how ridiculous it all is.
That must have been difficult to say with a straight face. :)
Thank you. So funny. Rest in Peace
Ana Maria Reis Coelho yes
The real PM couldn't have said it better!
I bet they could have. Just not as _truthfully_ as Mr Hacker here does.
Rest in Peace, Paul Eddington. You were wonderful.
How wonderful not to have canned laughter put over this masterly piece of satire. Brilliant.
They never used canned laughter on Yes Minister
Miss Paul Eddington. Miss Nigel as well.

@@veroniquendambo3242 Same here! Particularly since I posted eleven years ago! 😥
This is GOLD
Indeed, it is.
This is so wonderful that its beyond comment
Amazing 😀😀

One wonders if the Caribbean conference was a success ?
Did one have a chance to .........be of service ?
I wonder if he had an opportunity to engage in a little "drinkie"
Brilliant!
Whoever wrote that should have been knighted! LOL
👍👍👍👍👍
he leans forward too much
Looks like he's selling insurance.
I think he's mimicking the style of PM's from the 1950's and early 60's - hence it looking stilted by comparison with today.
@@Sardonic100 It's referencing another clip where he's filming an address but they have to keep cutting for various reasons, a common one being that he's leaning forward over the desk rather than sitting up straight.
He can't help it. It's that deep-seated sincerity that does it.
When an actor acts as a PM instead of a PM acting as a drunk clown..
Is that a bible that he was reading?
How saintly.

What year was this done?
This is from the first Comic Relief in 1986.
👏😀
Rebel Wilson gets a BAFTA but Paul Eddington didn’t. And some people still believe that society isn’t dumbing down.
Yes, because awards for actors are indicative of society as a whole around the globe. Sure.
You pick the most isolated example imaginable.
And make the most sweeping generalisation possible.
Well done!!
That's sad - presumably that was close to when he died.
This was made in 1986 he died in 1995
It sound like Palpatine talk why we should enslave wookies and kill all Jedi. For good of Galaxy of course

this isn't very good compared to the normal series
