  • “Yes, Minister.” Those were the words we’d hear at the end of every episode of the classic British sitcom Yes Minister. It was one of the most popular sitcoms of its time and is widely regarded as one of the best British sitcoms of all time.

The show’s success was due to the excellent writing by Jonathan Lynn and Sir Antony Jay. But it was the Yes Minister Cast who brought these wonderful and sometimes conniving characters to life.
Sadly, many of the main Yes Minister cast members have since left us. Today, we’ll look back on their incredible lives and careers.
Richard Vernon played Sir Desmond in the show. Sir Desmond was a banker, who had surprisingly, very little knowledge of banking or the finance industry. Richard Vernon played this posh but foolish chap with impeccability. He soon became one of the most popular characters among the Yes Minister Cast. We sadly lost him in 1997 at the age of 72.
Edward Jewesbury played Vic Gould - better known as the Chief Whip in 2 episodes of Yes Minister. He was a great contrast to the rest of the Yes Minister Cast. He brought a bit of seriousness to the show and this was perfect for sometimes showing the darkness of the world of politics.
Arthur Cox was one of Britain’s most well-known character actors. He played the role of Jim Hacker’s chauffeur George. While a smaller member of the Yes Minister cast he nevertheless provided an insight into how the chauffeur seems to know it all.
But of course, the heroes of Yes Minister were Derek Fowlds who played Bernard Woolley, Sir Nigel Hawthorne who played Sir Humphrey Appleby, and of course, Paul Eddington who played the Minister of Administrative Affairs, Jim Hacker. What would the Yes Minister cast be without them?

Derek Fowlds was one of those fortunate actors, who ALWAYS looked much younger than he was. Hearing of his death was quite surprising , and sad.

😂 Another brilliant example of a true classic British comedy series. Wonderful writing and great acting by both the main cast ,and character actors in support roles......................😅.

Sir Nigel Hawthorne and Paul Eddington were great, but Derek Fowlds made the show great. He had some of the best "throwaway" lines ever.

Sir Humphrey is my favorite, his performance in The Madness of King George and King Lear was magnificent.

@@FactsVerseUK the late actor's name is Nigel Hawthorne not Edward Dewsbury, he played Sir Humphrey, in both Yes Minister and the sequel Yes Prime Minister, also he played a villain in the 1993 Sly Stone and Wesley Snipes film Demolition Man,
