I remember Independent samples T test and Paired samples T test from undergrad. This video was a much needed refresher, as well as an opportunity to learn even more about them using SPSS.

I remember using independent and Paired T-tests from undergrad. This was a great brush up and reference tool.

Thank you for talking through the differences between the two tests for clarification.

This video was immensely helpful in running the Independent-Samples T Test and the Paired-Samples T Test!

Independent T-test is a between subject and and paired t-test is a within subject. Thanks for this helpful explanation and demonstration.

I like the idea of the paired-samples T Test but I think if I were comparing the pretest and post-test. I would still want to know if the results came from the treatment or control group. I do see how both the independent and paired samples T Tests are helpful.

Thank you so much for these videos. A good learning. If it is a RCT (groupA,B) multiple variables measured at baseline and at 3 weeks(2 point) which test will be appropriate? Should I choose repeated measure ANOVA( 2 2) or independent and paired T test both? Thanks a lot in advance

I like the idea of paired test samples in a research design that way we can see if there is a significant difference or not between the two control groups after applying treatment. Thats what I assume is true here?!

I now have a better understanding of a Dependent Paired-Samples T Test as well as the Shapiro Wilk Test. I like that you can double check deviation along the Q-Q plot.

+Amanda Sutton, I like the idea of being able to double check the deviation along the Q-Q plot as well. I always like to be able to double check things!

I have to compare the diferences of IV1 and IV2 between an experimental group and a control group in pretest and posttest. Could somebody please tell me what test should I use?

How go ahead with the test, if REBT group is statistically not significant but waiting list is significant in Normality test?

After watching the video, I now understand the difference between independent samples T test and paired samples T test. However, I am still confused about the rest. I was not properly introduced to these terms as an undergraduate; this information is foreign to me. It was a great video though for people who actually have some experience with T tests.

what if the sample size is NOT randomly selected? The rest of the elements met the assumptions. Will you continue to do the test? Will it affect the result? OR if the sample size is not randomly selected, we cannot do the te?
