My wife and purchased a 2022 17MKE in April. We researched online as well as visited dealers for a year prior to making our decision. Hands down, this unit is the best bang for the size! We wanted the smallest unit possible with certain amenities and this was definitely it. Every murphy bed coach we looked at felt cheap and the seating was uncomfortable, but this Grand Design was VERY well made, the couch was very nice, and the murphy bed configuration was easy to convert. We have gone on 4 camping trips and 1000 miles so far and are so happy about our purchase. Our tow vehicle is a Toyota Tundra and it pulls this unit fully loaded with zero issues.
We purchased this same one this year and love it! First TT we've owned. Others were Class C until someone sawed off the CC twice in three months. We just "hook and book" with this one. I have a 5.3 liter 1/2 ton pick up. 5.7 L would be better but the 5.3 does just fine. Backing in has been a challenge, but with several practice runs I;'m getting better. A/C is fantastic. Refrig has boondock capability while traveling down the road to keep freezer stuff frozen for hours. We drove for 11 hrs straight and had no problems with freezer nor fridge keep things fresh and frozen. Dual axle with Endurance tires (No china bombs). 20# propane are easy to refill. The dial on the tanks indicate red or green when to fill. Empty one then flip the dial to the other tank for green. Up front storage holds a lot of gear plus that helps to keep the sway down as well. We keep the potable water tanks low until we get to the site to fill or use local water. Solid build.
We just bought the same trailer about 3 weeks ago and LOVE it! We have only done 3 nights in it, but will be heading out full time in a week or so. Congrats to your sister & awesome job backing it up!
Natalie absolutely loves her 17MKE and is living in it full time now! We hope you guys are as pleased with yours! Thank you for the kind words and for watching!!
*a murphy bed is the best thing we have ever done. Wish we had the recliners, even with out the heat/massage. The cubbies in the bathroom is the best.Nice review*
I'm partial to my Flagstaff 5th wheel, but this has got to be one of the best travel trailers I've EVER seen...big or small! That's awesome! One thing you missed showing though...the center of the soda should fold down giving you more cupholders, some storage and charging ports/outlets.
Thank you for watching! Yes, you're right, the sofa does fold down in the center and provides cup holders at least (I don't remember if there were any outlets).
I would like to know where you get the plastic pieces that are under the wheels and do they help with tires when sitting long periods of time???? Also the yellow plastic pieces as well. I need both the yellow and orange.
Love the layout on a rig of its size. As a murphy bed travel trailer owner, its nice to have multiple options depending on if its day or night. Great video as always. 👍
@@SunsetSeekers she should be very proud of her new rig. Its beautiful. Many safe adventures ahead. Look forward to seeing her in more videos along the way.
We have the GD 19 RLE and are very happy with it, however if this was on the lot at the time I’m sure we would picked this one. The floor plan and storage are amazing
Good video. One nice addition would be to replace the frosted door window with a Lippert Components Thin Shade Complete Window Kit. This will allow a clear view of your camp side during the day, but still allow you to close the integrated shade at night. I also think it looks nicer from the outside since the window is tinted dark and it matches the other windows. Do you have any dislikes with your trailer? Thanks
This trailer is becoming a favorite of ours with the space inside, the storage, and the bathroom countertop. Thanks for the video, I will say I am not a fan of the fish eye bubble camera view. Keep up the reviews 👍.
Thanks for watching! This is definitely one of the best trailers that we've ever seen in this weight range! I'm not quite sure what you mean by the "fish eye bubble camera view" as I use a standard 4k image with no special camera lenses. It sounds to me like you may need to adjust the graphics on your computer or smart phone.
Hi Diver. I use an oil diffuser with multiple light options in the evenings (you could go with a lamp option instead). There are also three lights with independent switches located near the front door, above the recliners, and under the cabinet near the fridge. If you figure out how to dim the lights, I’d be interested!!!!
We got ours this year too. Mainly simple stuff: nothing on the exterior. Mainly cosmetic inside. The ribbing in the ceiling started coming loose a bit. Glued it back. Fridge ices up a bit. But thats because there is a problem with the fridge door.
You mean slides. No I've never had one. I've heard they can get stuck....yikes.....or other issues. But then, there a lot of folks who say no, they are fine. I'm skeptical.
It is a camper queen, we have this same unit. It is 60x74. I am 5'10" and I do not have any issues with it. We added a 3" gel foam topper and it is VERY comfy!
Well… I think the entire point of that section of the video was my bro showing pride in how quickly I learned to back my trailer using his backing video. You can always save yourself 15 seconds by fast forwarding through that part. Lol.
Hi. The dealer suggested I store it in my bed during travel. But, as Mike stated, I figured out I was never going to use it and it’s in storage now. I’ve found the center “arm rest / console” between the two recliners works well instead.
@@natalier143 We don't have the chairs in the slid out but have a "U" shaped dining area. Love that for eating and enough room for another couple to eat with us. Lots of storage underneath the slide out dining area.
Hi. It’s Natalie, the owner of this rv. There are outlets located on the underside of the top kitchen cabinets. One next to the refrigerator and one close to the sink. I use the counter space near the fridge as my coffee station. Must. Have. Coffee. :)
Nice rv. My one concern, the slide. If you are doi g an overnight stop at cracker barrell let's say, your bed looks like it not be able to come down. Otherwise, I agree with all other points you made. Congrats to your sister. Thank you for sharing and be safe.
You're right! That could be problematic in those situations. Hopefully, if she ever decides to stay the night at a Cracker Barrel or Walmart, she will be able to open the slide! Thank you for pointing that out and for watching!!
Awnings that end at the door are a poor design!Trust me that on a rainy day you’ll get wet going in and out!.They need to seriously make the awnings longer or change their designs.🤔
I dare anybody to make one of these videos without saying "storage" over and over and over. It's inane. You're camping or traveling. You're not "storing" anything.

We just got our 17mke this past April. Camped 73 nights in it and absolutely Love it. Your sister will too.
Awesome!!
I do love it!!! Thank you. :)
We just bought this same model. Picking up next week. Love this floor plan, especially the kitchen! Can't wait to start camping!
Literally the perfect hunting trailer and just perfect for half ton trucks
Yes, absolutely! This trailer rocks!!

Has to be one of the best I have ever seen
Best small RV layout we've seen! Congrats to Natalie! Great video!

Very nice! I love the floor plan!

Can you sit in the recliners with them extended while the murphy bed is open as in bed position or does that bed block the recliner?

*QUESTION* does the murphy bed fold or is it one solid mattress
What is your sister pulling with. I see it’s amFord F150 but what is the engine size?
Would like to see more videos on this unit.
Have you found a way to dim the inside lights?

Diffuser?
Can you access the bathroom or use bed when the slides is in? Great video!
No access to the bed when the slide is in but you can get to the bathroom! Thank you for watching!!
Always felt like this would be a great floorplan if you were OK with murphy beds that fold in the middle.
I like it how much?
We just got the same camper. 2022 17MKE and will be picking it up in a week. How has it been holding up? Did you have anything go wrong?
We got ours this year too. Mainly simple stuff: nothing on the exterior. Mainly cosmetic inside. The ribbing in the ceiling started coming loose a bit. Glued it back. Fridge ices up a bit. But thats because there is a problem with the fridge door.
@@reidwagner1508 same make,model and year?
Great little travel trailer, does the TV articulate so you can watch it from the Murphy bed?
Yes, it sure does!
So, we are new to Joneboro, AR and were wondering your favorite rv park with full hook ups about 2 or 3 hours from us. Thanks….i just subscribed
Does the front door open fully with the bed down?
Yes, it does!
Great video.👍
Dont really like sides but would make an exception on this lay out. 👍
This is an awesome little trailer!! Thank you for watching!!

What are the dimensions of the bed? Camper Queen or full queen? Great Video!
It is a camper queen, we have this same unit. It is 60x74. I am 5'10" and I do not have any issues with it. We added a 3" gel foam topper and it is VERY comfy!
Did that Serta come with it or did you buy that separately?
It came with the rig.
I never would buy one if a hadn't seen her back it up like that was important
Well… I think the entire point of that section of the video was my bro showing pride in how quickly I learned to back my trailer using his backing video. You can always save yourself 15 seconds by fast forwarding through that part. Lol.
Does it have a table to eat at?
Interesting RV.
Where is the dinette table?
great video!
Thank you!!
Where is a table for dining?
This is a great trailer 👍🏿. Any idea of the price of this thing.
About $28,000
Thanks for the tour. Is this a 2022 model?
Thanks for watching! Yes, this is a 2022.
I believe this unit has a stand-alone dining table. Where does it get stored when not in use?
I don't believe my sister uses her dining table and stores hers in the pass through storage box.
Hi. The dealer suggested I store it in my bed during travel. But, as Mike stated, I figured out I was never going to use it and it’s in storage now. I’ve found the center “arm rest / console” between the two recliners works well instead.

Another good way to get backup experience, is to go to a empty parking lot and just practice
I found a large empty Church parking lot and practiced several times.
Counter outlets for coffee maker ?

I think all of them should be two stories for a whole other sleeping area.!
Fab 👍

But if she couldn't open the slide, the chairs there are so comfy! And she may be able to lay lengthwise.
Love her new rv!!!
I've got this trailer. It's a short throw slide and no issues at Cracker Barrel or Walmart.
is is 17ft or 21ft?
I'm not sure exactly what the 17MKE designation means, but it's 21 feet long.
@@SunsetSeekers 17" is the size of the actual living area box. 21' is hitch to rear length.
Overall length is 21 ft 11 inches. I would round it to 22 ft.

Overpriced flimsy plastic garbage, should’ve got a cargo trailer and do a conversion
We thought at first too. You really need to visit one of these. Really solid build. I'd put it up there with an airstream
