    *HEY EVERYBODY!! Something I failed to mention in the video: Grand Design has a rather uncommon policy in which dealers CANNOT publish pricing for basically anything except MSRP on new/current models. So if you check the link in the description, then it will let you know where we have GD inventory in stock. But unfortunately we're forced to ask you to contact our local teams for pricing due to MFG agreements. Sorry about that. It's not how I like to do things but I don't really have any say in the matter!*

    We got our Grand Design Imagine 22MLE at the end of May last year. It was our first RV and we absolutely love it! It's just my husband and I and is perfect. We never feel like we're cramped for space. Also, in case no one else mentioned it, it does come with the roller dish drain. I have watched you for a long time and and now so happy you can talk about Grand Design. They are a quality company. Thanks for reviewing this one!!

      Thanks for your review! It is encouraging to read, we are about to buy our first one too, a bunk house model so grandkids can come along. I really loved the quality materials when I saw this in person, the BHE21. My husband never has towed a trailer before and did not want a giant rig, so we had to negotiate and I feel this make and model gives us both features we want without disappointment.

    First, I'm really glad that my one and only RV nerd was able to do a review video on a 22MLE. This is the floor plan I love. You did a great job as usual. But, when Cougar finally put their mark on it with the 22MLS I was blown away. King bed, kitchen sink placement so you have more countertop access, hot/cold TESTED, bathroom window and the better roof and height of the cougar. $$$ if I'm doing it....you get what you pay for. Again, thank you for doing the video.

    We just picked up ours in December, can't wait for spring. We also looked at the Cougar 22MLS and liked it as well, but, even though it had power jacks and 2 30# propane tanks vs. the 22MLEs 20# tanks, we thought the GD had a better overall fit n finish. Thx for another great review.

      This Grand Design really grabs you! We looked at the Couger, and almost was set on Coahmen Apex BHS245, it was so pretty! But felt wobbly and I didn't think the bath looked as great as grand design. I had a notebook and wrote observations in person touring them all, and GD won on everything that matters to me!

    I just saw the camper today. It truely is very cool, especially with the well designed & very attractive kitchen.
    One "typo" in you RUclips script... the Solar package with the charge controller was not a 50, but 25.
    The box under the bed was a lost opportunity to have 2 drawers! It would be my first mod!
    I get why the Bath is so tiny because if it were larger, you'd lose the pantry. However, it does meet minimally functional for a 6'+ 230lbs guy.
    Cheers, Eric

    Just walked thru this one at my local dealer, and you're spot on Josh -- it has HUGE feel inside for being so light on the #s. RoadMode awesome! Somebody won't like the bath next to the kitchen. Vids cannot show fit & finish, and its good. Massage & heated loungers are silly luxury IMO. The central controls behind tinted glass is GENIUS -- some idiots aim the controls lights right! at! the! bed! I did not know GD ships with MPPT 50Amp charge controller. Much better than the cheapo PWM 15A in others. I'm seriously considering on the GDs now ... they are a few grand more but nothings free. Final prep & PDI at GD is better than you-know-who SweatShops. There are even better fit & finish than GDs but the price really jumps to buy them. Thank you for adding them to your tours!

    * Hitch weight confusion - Hitch weight is listed around 500-600 lbs.*
    This is a really nice year round weekender!! Space to be comfy but not excessive. Fancy but not over the top. Everything you need, nothing you don't! I really like the shoe storage cubby and the 12v fridge with the solar! For a weekender, I don't have any dislikes honestly. I'm sure people are going to want a king bed but the space to walk around the bed as well as the extra storage is worth having the queen in my opinion. Nice detailed video Uncle Josh! 🤠

    I nearly bought one of these and I won't rule it out later. The OSB and some of the recently reported roof quality issues give me some pause. I like the 12v fridge and solar setup. This is my favorite layout for a couples trailer. MSRP hikes are creating a value vs price issue.

    Just watched the Rockwood factory tour and really looking forward to a Grand Design factory tour ;) We bought the 22MLE in Jan and have had it out 5 times this summer, so far with a few more trips planned. We have been pop-up campers for 25+ years and finally (kids in college) bought the perfect couples camper. I can say you brought up a few good points about the small toilet area (I am 6' 240lbs) but it is usable. The plugs being under the cabinets are not as much as an issue as we thought and there are 3 in the walls buy the beds sides and the table. Like you said for 5200lb TT it feels big inside and that's why we picked this one. We did have the two kids stay with us a weekend one on the table and one on a blowup mattress in front of the stove/fridge. It was tight but doable for a weekend ;) Great storage and it pulls perfectly behind my 2012 F150 eco boost. We did look at the Cougar but still liked this one better.

    Josh, love your videos with the detail they go into and especially the road mode sections. We're shopping for our first RV and your reviews are helping us narrow down our search (and expand it at the same time). With the lack of a bedroom door on this model it would seem that it would be awesome if it had a murphy bed so that the bedroom would become part of the living area during the day. Then it really could be a large couples RV in a small footprint.

    • @JoshtheRVNerd
      @JoshtheRVNerd  2 года назад

      I've had a few folks mention something similar. I think they left the bed "down" since it already has both a sofa and a dinette but I don't dislike the idea.

    • @slalomking
      @slalomking 2 года назад +4

      No, we don’t want to Jack with a bed every day. This is the way you want it !!! Things are more pleasant if they have their own place. All the Murphy beds are camper queens, try getting sheets for them. Some fold in the middle of the mattress, very uncomfortable to sleep on

  • @campingalan
    @campingalan 2 года назад +2

    Hi Josh! This is a great travel trailer option for a couple!! Thank you very much for sharing it. Our Outdoors RV 22FQS is exactly what you described.....it is only a dinette rig. As we begin using our rig, I have always thought there will be a time that we regret not having a couch or theater seating for those days that it isn't pleasant to be outside. And, our rig is actually a few inches longer than this one.
    This model has an awesome "wrap over the bed" drawers and shelving! I like it. That kitchen storage is awesome too! Great full access too when the slide out is in!!
    If we didn't live in CO and want to use our trailer all year (as well as mostly off road), this would be an awesome alternate!!
    Safe travels!!

    The Grand Design has the edge for me over the cougar because of the bedroom storage... I know you move from a king to a queen to get it, but I think those extra drawers are worth it. I do like the glass door in the shower on the cougar and I'd like to see drawers under the bed and dinette to better access the storage there. I would love to see Rockwood do this layout... oh and Grand Design should add a front cap to the xls... I also like the vaulted ceiling in the cougar but again, the drawer space in the bedroom trumps it. Thanks for the reviews!

    We purchase a 2023 version of this floorplan and there have been some changes to the decor so thought I would post them here. To us they have helped update the look of the trailer quite a bit.
    GD has gone to oiled rubbed bronze for all of the cabinet hardware and plumbing fixtures.
    The shiny chrome (?) inlay in the trim is now black or a color close to it.
    The slide toe kick trim is now black or a color close to it.
    The vent and fridge are now black.
    They have changed the pleather on the back of the dinette seating to a wood product that matches the grain pattern and color of the cabinets.
    There is no option for a factory installed inverter.
    The delivered dry weight (from sticker) was a little over 200 lbs heavier than the published dry weight.
