It's a filler episode, but between Angel's undercover persona, that opening with Wesley and that shocking moment with Kate, it's still a great one.

One of the strangest episodes of The Buffyverse. And that's not necessarally a bad thing
Angel is used to fight the soulless monster inside. The shroud added an other layer that messed with that control he has, but he was definitely the more apt to resist its effects.
That said, my take is that from times to times, the shroud influence took the best of him, and that's what happened when he bit Kate.
But we also know that sucking blood make a vampire stronger. My take is that Kate's blood helped Angel to regain control over himself, thus he could have stopped before draining her, and tell her to play dead.
That shot with Kate and Angel!! It did remind me of Jenny's death! I wonder if they did that intentionally. Probably. I need to brush up on my commentaries. I don't even remember if this episode has a commentary. 😅😅
Cordy has serious points about the sacrificing of women and the world turning atheist if it were different.
It's always fun when they let David mess around and have fun playing Angel. Nice break from the brooding. And who doesn't love a good heist episode?!

Just a quick note to say that I loved how, when Angel-as-J-Don asked "What is that piece of junk?" you replied - and with a straight face, no hint of "I'm making a funny wisecrack" smile, too - "The Millenium Falcon." : )
It was also a lot of fun watching you piece together what was going on after that "flash forward" start; and seeing you lol as Gunn decked Angel, showing his appreciation for Angel's methods in attempting to protect him! Thank you for another great reaction video, Nick!

The Buffyverse is based on metaphors, and the monsters are supposed to represent the challenges we face in life.
It's so clear that this episode represents drug addiction and the ability to overcome it.

This is a fun episode. A little fluff to break up the drama of the current story line. It's a shame that Angel didn't get to do more undercover work. David obviously had a lot of fun getting to do something different from the regular gloomy Angel. Because, as Angel once told Buffy, he's a funny guy. And again the writers are treating vampirism like an addiction. I suppose it's not just the blood that can trigger him, but the pure animalistic act of biting and drinking it fresh from the source. Pigs blood in the fridge just isn't the same.
