Apologies for clearing this up so late, but I hadn’t made up my mind what to do with those episodes (post out of order, do a Patreon giveaway) until today reading additional feedback
Why did I skip those episodes? Because I was eager to start Season 5 of Buffy, behind on editing, and the engagement with my Angel reactions is easily the lowest of anything I react to (which hurts the overall health and growth of my channel, not to mention the opportunity cost)
Of course I’m still continuing Angel, and I’d love for you to stick around to watch more reactions. But if you’re looking for a reactor who can 100% commit to posting every single episode (of any show/ movie franchise I watch) or always posting in the official watch order, that honestly just isn’t me
I understand this can be frustrating/ annoying, but as others have pointed thankfully there are plenty of truly excellent Buffyverse reactors out there in case this is a dealbreaker :)
Will the full unedited reactions be available if I sign up to Patron? Or is it just not gonna happen at all?
It's a shame as season 2 is a fan favourite for good reason. This is where the show finds its feet imo

I have no plans on skipping episodes or stopping watching either Buffy or Angel as I’m thoroughly enjoying both shows, it’s more an issue of the work required to edit for upload RUclips/ whether or not there’s an audience for certain reactions

Hey Thor. I'm not annoyed if you want to skip some episodes of Angel if they are not performing as well as others, but skipping a season finale may not be the best ones to skip :) perhaps a more stand-alone would be better. Sorry, just unsolicited advice, I was looking forward to your reaction to Darla's return, but it's all good in this hood :)

I love that Cordy's "roommate" Phantom Dennis is still around in the background, throwing books at Wesley to help out, lol.
I love that in the beginning, Cordellia was mostly working with Angel to get by until her acting career took off. Now in the middle of doing great with her acting training, she, without a thought, drops it to go fight evil.
Great point! Cordy consistently has some of the best character growth in the Buffyverse imo

"WHY DIDNT YOU SAY ANYTHING???" - shes standing back while her protector fights a stranger that ran up on her in a scary place. shes not the audience, she doesnt know Angel is the good guy like we do.

While she was free, she looked like being trapped, but since she turned herself in, she looks and sounds free. Crazy 🤪.
Peace of mind. Life not being in turmoil anymore.
Owning up to her actions, not running and hiding anymore, and a structured routine. For someone like Faith, it all helps.

The lady doesn't know Angel is a good guy. From her PoV, he's one of the bad guys that's after her, so why would she tell Angel to stop ?

Yeah, so many people don't understand why she wouldn't just because WE know Angel is one of the good guys. Like on Buffy, when we see some demon attack why doesn't Buffy yell at them to "Stop, He/She is a good guy".
@@Logan_Baron Yes, that's the point I always make to Mom when we rewatch and she gets annoyed that Jo doesn't call out, "He's my protector!" (the script says her name is Jo)
Also the Demon attacked Angel because he probably could sense he was a vampire & there's only 1 vampire that's good in the world so I doubt he(the protector) thought he'd find the one.

If there ever was a sequel to Angel, this would be a great episode to build it off of. The Chosen one being born to this woman would be a young woman now, a sort of Joan of Arc figure fighting Demons sort of like a Slayer but more magical.
"Imagine if Buffy saw Angel singing". A thought that didn't occur to me, but it might cool any desire she had for him.
Dude, stick with Angel to the end! You're in for a treat. Some good philosophy. The show is darker than Buffy, they both have their strengths. Both excellent shows.
Consider that the guardian demon saw a vampire near his charge. He made the same mistake Angel did.

It has been pointed out that Angel and Faith (who are both Irish) are from a Catholic background with its concepts of guilt and penance and redemption. This is a level at which they connect in a way that neither does to another character.

Fun fact, I did never hear Mandy before seeing this episode. So Angel singing it was my first impression of it and is the version I remember when the song is referenced. 😅
💜 I think the scene where Angel kills the protector did seem like a big accident/misunderstanding. It looked like the pregnant woman was running from something else, then the protector came in from the other direction and assumed she was running from Angel. Then Angel thought they were being attacked! lol
Also, loved seeing Faith doing so "well"... she may be in jail, living a hard life, but she is being more true to herself now.
Oh and I will love any time we get Angel singing! lol He should do that in every episode! JK, that would get old :D

"How did you come back?" You did watch the season 1 finale, where they (W&H) had the big ritual and summoned Darla, right? A LOT of mojo went into that ritual, including sacrificing several vampires...don't really need more explanation.
I think the defender demon was super aggressive in attacking Angel because it had probably fended off multiple attacks previously, and then look, a vampire shows up. If the demon could sense he was a vampire, well, all vampires are evil soulless monsters, right? Angel isn't, but that demon probably didn't know that. A tragedy of errors...
A lot of explanations are handwaved away as "Magic". In this case we actually and specifically saw the magic being done for the very purpose.
Yeah, I guess I was expecting a bit more of an explanation of that ritual. Can any vampire just be raised from the dead? Can Doyle be raised from the dead? But I might be overthinking the “magic logic” when bottom line we get to have a really cool villain back in the show.
And after editing this video and rewatching that scene, I agree I don’t think it was the defender or Angel’s fault, just unfortunate…

I love the idea that Angel is generally this super-skilled, handsome, brooding, badass champion of the downtrodden - but he absolutely SUCKS at singing and dancing (as seen in season 1). It's like his kryptonite.

I enjoy that Angel makes a lot of mistakes in this one to the point of the person he's intending to help doesn't want it. That's hard to pull of without making said MC unlikable. This show knows how to do it.
Sometimes Faith is still a surprise to me in this episode, almost like a blink and you'll forget she was even there type of situation.
Yeah I think starting off this season with Angel making mistakes/ not being wanted as a helper was a good reminder of his flaws (not to mention the singing 😂) which actually makes him a more relatable character in many ways. And the Faith appearance was brief, but so good and the perfect scene that shows where Angel really excels, in seeing the good in even the darkest places and offering a kind moment to another lost soul
It makes me so happy to see you appreciate seeing faith! She's my favorite slayer 😮. There's a book about faith's back story that isn't official, but is canon in my brain. Lol. The first buffy comic I ever stumbled upon was faith's appearance, I didn't even know there were buffy comics at the time. I was incredibly lucky to meet Eliza and have her autograph the comic. She's incredible and her sobriety story actually brings me a lot of hope. All around, character to actress, amazing. Even if she loves my least favorite football team. 😂😂
And as always thanks for uploading. It sucks how RUclips punishes for content that doesn't "perform well". Season 2 is my favorite season of angel so I hope you enjoy it!
That faith visit in prison is one of my favorite scenes ever from Angel - it is so subtle but beautifully written, the meaningfulness behind it. Just when you think the angel helping faith arc is over with five by five & sanctuary 2-parter, this scene shows he's there for her for the long haul. & it was so natural the implication that he had been visiting her on a regular basis. It also shows how faith is really in it for redemption & finally at peace with herself doing her time by choice. LOVE it.

This marks Faith's arc as one of my favorite of the Buffyverse. It really dawns on me in S4, when Faith breaks out of jail to save Angel from Angelus and she won't give up on him because he didn't give up on her.
Knowing that he visits Faith to keep her company so she doesn’t feel forgotten made me love Angel. Didn’t care for him much only seen him as Buffy’s Ex.
Buffy&Angel will always and forever be my OTP 💛🖤 but I *ADORE* Angel&Faith's friendship!🖤🤎

It's one of the only aspects of his character that I genuinely appreciate. Him helping Faith. If they got together I would fully support it, there's a connection there that they didn't have with anybody else. A deeper understanding.
SPOILER:
In S4, when Faith breaks out of prison to save Angel from Angelus, I find seeing how she won't give up on him just like he didn't give up on her overwhelming. Knowing that THIS is the result.
Granted, I don't like these two characters. But Faith's arc is just amazing and it's thanks to things like that.

If Angel hadn't killed the champion, there's a good chance the champion would have failed to win the trial. Angel only won because he's a vampire. I think the Powers knew what they were doing.

I think when it comes to Faith, like Riley she needs stability and leadership, she doesn't do well when left to her own devices.
I really think that she will be fine in prison, she handles taking orders well, knows how to protect herself, can stomach the food and she enjoys the downtime of not having the responsibility of the weight of the world on her shoulders.
There are many people in the world like Faith, some go into the army, some join religious groups and some go into care work like vet nurses or at home caretakers. People with her mindset seem to excel when given clear instructions and someone or something to take care of.

The pregnant woman in this episode is the same pregnant woman in the movie Final Destination 2 from around the same time as this.

Well.. about that unfortunate accident... There's a few thing I think we're supposed to induce... But I understand it may be hard on the first time watching :
When Angel suddenly appeared in front of the pregnant woman, she was surprised, yes, but also frightened and out of breath. She probably was running from assailant(s) when they bumped into each other. Then Angel barely had the time to say anything when her protector comes.... She was still out of breath, didn't know if the few words Angel had said could be trusted, so of course, she didn't say anything, and if she could have spoken earlier, she might have shouted something like "Come on ! Kill him !" encouraging her protector, and Angel would have thought she was cheering for him and kill the demon anyway.
Plus the "just running from an attack" hypothesis reinforce the fact that the protector also immediately supposed that Angel was here to kill the woman, and didn't try to ask any question either.

It's a guilty pleasure for me, and I'm wondering how you'll react to the many hilariously surreal moments this film will provide. The hotel lobby you see Angel and the woman he's protecting in is the first appearance of an important set for the future and features heavily in the next episode. The next episode is one of my all time favorite episodes and I'm looking forward to your reaction to it!

It honestly doesn’t bother me that you skip some episodes. For one thing, I appreciate you doing what’s best for your channel and yourself, especially if it keeps you from overworking yourself trying to get everything uploaded. For another, I’ve seen both Angel and Buffy multiple times before. It’s not like I’m missing out on anything.

There are some folks who seem to subscribe to reactors just for the purpose of putting them down, or putting down the show or film they are reacting to - or they want to change how the reactor reacts, like "you should pause when you talk" or "you shouldn't pause the show" or "turn on subtitles" or "turn off subtitles". Making respectful suggestions is all well and good, but don't do it every damn time when the reactor isn't taking them!
I saw one guy on a Firefly reaction that was just there to say Firefly sucks and was bad scifi - I'm like, dude, wtf are you doing watching a Firefly reaction if that's how you feel about the show? Me, I have tried some channels where the reactor's style just didn't appeal to me - I just left, no need to berate the reactor, they aren't going to change how they react, so that's fine, I don't need to spend my time watching something I'm not enjoying, but I don't have to yell at them for being who they are either.
A subscriber who has constructive criticism but also makes supportive comments and provides information the reactor might have missed is totally fine, and most reactors have no problem with that. Some actually take that criticism into consideration and may act on some of it, and everyone is better off.
