Billy Bob Thornton (the inmate here) years later goes on to direct a movie about a spanish-speaking white guy who gets stuck in an all Mexican prison (All The Pretty Horses).
Small thing about the guard at 5:08 The way he shouts "BACK UP" to who is probably a real inmamte, versus how he says it in a more calm, and gentle demeanor to Miklo and Popeye, who are actors/civilians.
Lot of great actors in this film, from Danny Trejo to Oscar Winner Billy Bob Thornton and Carlos Carrasco, Victor Rivers, Damian Chapa, Benjamin Bratt and others. While it may not have gotten awards hope someday it can be added to the National Film Registry in Congress.
It’s only after I watched this in 4K that I noticed Montana reading a very interesting book called “The Wretched of the Earth”. This book essentially is a playbook for the takeover they were planning for the the prison. Talk about attention to detail in this movie!
