    I’ve ran Cats all my life 25 years . I’ve spent the last 6 years running k series Cat and John Deere 700 and 6s . But the last 1 year I put 500 hrs on a komatsu 39 lgp that was brand new and I really liked the topcon equipped komatsu when I got it new . However when I got on the new 2021 Cat D 3 LGP equipped with the Trimble system… speechless as to how much more comfortable and stable the cat is . Undercarriage on the cat is so so smooth . And the seat is so much more comfortable. And I can’t even start on how much more screen you have in both the gps and standard screen equipped on cat .

      Yep i agree they are smooth as butter, and the built in trimble is awesome. You can literally make your own designs too!

      I have a 6k chops like a mother on loose A. The one thing you want it to be smooth on. My case 850k cleats heavy especially when the grousers were full length but never had a problem with skipping up and down several inches on loose A.

    I have spent many hours on a Komatsu D61PX and love it its got the ability to fine grade or hog dirt and the cab and controls are top notch.

    I agree when it comes to dealer support no one can even come close to Cat.

    I have a d51pxi and absolutely love it. Definitely a power house and grades so easily. I tried a John Deere 700k and the new d3. I felt the most comfortable in the d51. Better visibility of the blade

      It was a hard decision for us a lot harder than I thought it would be. Komatsu makes nice equipment. Deere is not that big in our area It took us a good two weeks to make the decision

    I have case 750m right now, I got a really good deal on it so I gave it a try. It's not bad but I demoed the d3 and I think that's what I'm going with now, just bought the new 420xe backhoe too, it'll be delivered soon, cat and jd are the only dealerships close to me. Case and Komatsu are 2 hrs plus away so service has been a pain. The cat salesman really earned my respect and business more than anyone else too.

    Just what you said about. The location of the 2 dealers is enough for me to go with a cat. I believe they're both good machines and they're both gonna break. So who's gonna support you the best when it's broken? That's the choice you make.

    With about 20k hrs under my belt 95% of that time on d6 and JD850j our
    Land man bought a new kd37n for me last year i put about 300hrs on it now and they only benefit I can tell to the Komatsu is the visibility is great, but it's ruff and rattles and squeaks like hell.
    My last 850j had 9987hrs on it and it was 10 times quieter than my new Komatsu.

    Imagine a dozer with a winch hitch thingy. The extra weight man would just be perfect for it to bite and grip. Well actually they already have that it's called the tractor with the rubber tracks for a road. Big CASE farm equipment.

    Both I bet are nice machines in my opinion it seemed to me the cat bogged and struggled more, jd700k newest machine I've run and I really wernt a fan of it tbh I guess I'm just stubborn havent ran much newer stuff really but like say not a real fan anyway I dont like payments and i dont need all the technology crap in my eyes it's just somthing else that can be worked on but anyway I've got a '98 d31p-20 with just hit 1000hrs with the 90hp 6d95l engine and for its compact size and specs with a 10' blade it's all around my favorite dozer to run and is really the perfect size machine specifically used for grading, it really is a little baddass dozer in my opinion and will Hogg dirt and doesnt bog at all, just spent 12k on it new tracks rails and rollers, the area where we're from is slightly wet and it can work in pretty bad conditions wheres most will sink out of sight it can be worked in wet marshy areas. I'd be willing to bet it would shove the d3 backward maybe not the new ones but for the year comparison I believe it would. Most dozers of its size class only have a 4 cylinder and we really like that its non turbocharged cause the oil stays clean like it just come out the bottle, My grandad bought in '83 a new d6 cat and we use it still for clearing and cutting in roads and it really is a boss ass dozer with the rootrake we can clear lots fairly quick with it. I agree with you on the cat change up wish they would just left numbers alone

  • @pszarek8

    I worked on both of these machines. The less reliable Komatsu Cat has broken down in this respect.

    I hate the small cat dozers what used to be the k series. The inside of the cats are very uncomfortable. I don’t like the way the controls are set up. Can’t seem to get the set and the controls to fit me. As far as small dozers go I would take a John deer , Komatsu or case over the cat hands down.

    What did you end up buying?
    I compared my d3k to the 39 and I feel my d3k has more low end torque and quicker response time going from forward to reverse with way less lag. I felt it pushed more dirt and back drug more dirt than the 39 even though the d3k is lighter and less track on the ground. I’m going to look at the new d2 when they can get one out to me.

    • @HardRockConstruction

      We went with the cat. We thought the Komatsu was a good machine but it just wasn’t for us. The blade size was to small and it just didn’t feel as comfortable operating. It also seemed a little undersized comparing it to the cat.

    GPS wise there’s no comparison ..the I machines for Komatsu are second to none. They have capabilities that other dozers simply don’t have.

    • @HardRockConstruction
      @HardRockConstruction  3 года назад +1

      I have never been on one. Most of the people I’ve talked to seem to like them but there’s a few that don’t care for them. Cost wise they seem to be higher than buying the machine and adding topcon. One negative I see with the I machine is only a komatsu dealer can work on it and our dealer does not have anyone in the state they keep there machine control techs in there Louisiana stores.

    • @lionelhollywood7275
      @lionelhollywood7275 3 года назад

      @@HardRockConstruction depends on what type of Topcon or Trimble system system you’re adding to the unit... pro control (blade control) on the Komatsu is a really great feature. If you add 3D to a dozer that’s not integrated compare to an already integrated Komatsu you’re saving money I promise ya.

    How are you liking the D3? Ive got a D39PX on demo currently. Definitely different feel than my D3G cat. Very strong and easy grading. The operstor station took a min to get used to but after i got the armrests, seat adjusted right it became very comfortable. Hope to demo a deere 650k next week and maybe a new D3 afterwards

      We haven’t took delivery of it yet it was supposed to have left the factory today headed to our dealer. So we’re hoping to have it by the end of this month. The komatsu was a great machine it just wasn’t for us. The new Cats are hard to beat other than the whole number change deal. And a plus the new Cats come from the factory with 2D grading.

    • @LAKarting
      @LAKarting 3 года назад

      @@HardRockConstruction The 2D is not very useful to me. How did the pushing power/grading compare? I'm not brand loyal by any means. None of them have ever made money based off color for me.

    • @HardRockConstruction
      @HardRockConstruction  3 года назад

      @@LAKarting pushing power to me was the same The blade on the komatsu was a little smaller grading wise the the Cat was just a little smoother functioning and faster to me. But if they where not right there together where I was get right off one onto the other I probably would have not noticed any difference.

    • @LAKarting

      @@HardRockConstruction You may have said it in the video, was the komatsu a 2021? There are a few creature comfort things added but I've put about 8 hours cutting and grading on it so far and Im start to really like it. My only complaint is Ive had to get used to dropping the blade at the end of a run since I cant shake it. Im waiting on deere and cat to bring me a demo but they are going to have to do some nice things to be better from what I can tell. The cat guy has given me a ballpark price on the d3 and its a pretty significant difference

Buy the CAT, invest in the quality, resale value, service, dealer partner. Komatsu makes cheap crap and if you need to see the blade better than operators have since the beginning of time you need to go back to being a laborer.
