#RoadTo90K🔥
Hey Drew you should check out Shadow of Intent, I think you'll really like them. The Heretic Prevails, The Catacombs and Malediction are all great introductions!
Road to 100k?
One of the best songs ever made imo
People often request BTBAM songs, when all us fans really know the only way to get someone into the band is to strap them into a chair in an empty black room, white strobe light flashing, and play the album Colors at 103.8db.
Pretty much. It took a fair few listens before it all came together for me, but god damn was it worth it.
WHITE WALLS
this is a great way to explain how I got into btbam. I just kept listening because everyone said they were great until one day, I was just like "holy fuck... these guys are legendary"
Same for me. I had several of their albums and skipped passed them on many occasions when my music was playing on random. One day I said, "I want something angry to listen to." while driving to work.
I started Colors from track 1. By the time I got to the parking lot, the silence and piano hit around the 1 minute mark of Ants Of The Sky. My mind was still trying to comprehend the part leading up to it. I was like, "Wait. This needs further review." I played it again on the way home and that time heard the breakdown in the same song.
After, took this new found thing and played it in the house. I remodeled my whole downstairs over the period of 2 months while listening to the album and broke Alaska out too. Now I love all of their stuff. The way it needs to grow on you because your brain can't decipher it at first, then the many listens it takes to finally not hear something new each time.
I meeeaaaannnnn, Colors is good and all, but I think Alaska is better. If we're looking at everything, I think Parallax: Hypersleep Dialogues is the best, the most true core progressive and openly composed BTBAM. I love it so much. The only song off Colors I think is on that level is Ants of the Sky.
oh man you've arrived at a slippery slope. these guys are incredible, and this is a great place to start. they're hard to get into until something in your brain audibly clicks, and then it's a 6 month between the buried and me bender...and then you start looking at the lyrics....
Everything about this is what happened to me in 2009 and they've been my favorite band ever since.
@@nickhaas9185 samesies
That is the perfect description for what happened to me when I discovered them.
I listened to 2 or 3 of their albums once or twice each before something finally clicked and I realized, yeah.... these guys are amazing.
At first I thought they were alright, but something told me to keep listening, and now they're easily one of my top 3 bands.
Its funny cause that's exactly how I got into them too. I heard some of their stuff when I was younger but was turned off by the intensity cause I wasn't into metal much at that point. Now they're my all time favorite band.
So true!
Yes!!!! Thanks so much for this. BTBAM is a huge rabbit hole to explore. I'd recommend the live studio performance of the song 'Extremophile Elite'. Also, anything by Haken is a must!!
Yes I agree with this, I love this band and to me it's as prog as you can get.
Haken would be awesome. I know he LOVED A Change of Seasons from DT so I figure he would love the track Crystallised. If he doesn't want to jump in on a 19 minute track I think Atlas Stone would be a good starting point too.
Extremophile Elite Live is a great recommendation. A live performance like that always helps me to get into a band.
Extremophile Elite would be an awesome step forward to BTBAM
Haken. Haken, Haken, for the love of music, Haken.
These guys are prog metal royalty. So many good albums.
Extremophile Elite, Voice of Trespass, The Coma Machine or Astral Body plis!
OMFG!!!!! it's on, you must react to the complete album COLORS!!!!! your welcome in advance🤘
I’d recommend ‘Between the Buried and me - Extremophile Elite’ Live in the studio, you’ll get more from seeing them performing it live in the studio
That Ross Shepherd guy seems like a right bawbag, good looking guy though.
Hahaha, what an intro. I'm a happy man indeed, mate.
Proof if proof were needed that dedication (annoying someone) does pay off.
Right, now to spam another suggestion for 3-5 months, religiously (don't worry, I'm joking).
Eluveitie - Ambiramus.
I love this because, being Scottish, I can relate to the instruments, you may be the same being Irish.
Anyway, enjoy, buddy.
🤣🤣🤣 realized mid way through the edit that my comments possibly came across quite harsh, apologies if there was any initial offence taken bro - appreciate the consistency 👌🏼👌🏼
@@DrewFortune97, not at all, I laughed my head off. Keep up the good work.
Between the buried and me - ``Voice of Trespass``
Its a fun song but it is deffinatley a one off for them
How many reaction channels do BTBAM? Drew I'm impressed. Mastodon and now BTBAM. Good going.
Btw Famine Wolf by these guys next if you wanna dive into em! It's a lot less chaotic and much better in tone and melody.
And you're absolutely right. Prog rock/prog metal reactions is what draws me in to your channel. Please keep doing these ♥️♥️♥️
Where. owls. Know. My. Name
Yes!!! Amazing track, plus the video is incredible
PLEASE.

I love BTBAM but I want reactors to watch some more less known songs too, so here goes: BTBAM - Lunar Wilderness. One of my favs.
Watching people experience Selkies for the first time gives me that chance to relive it again for myself. I'll take it to my grave that selkies has one the best guitar solos of all time.
Backwards Marathon from the same album. God I love Alaska. Also, as a lot of other people have commented, this is a deeeeeeeep rabbit you've gotten yourself into by listening to this!
Thank you for doing this Drew. I appreciate how genuine you are. Can't wait until you hit 100k
Between the Buried and Me - Extremophile Elite. Live at the Fidelitorium. You will not regret it. Btbam albums are meant to be listened to in full. I suggest Parallax II: Future Sequence.
I’ve been listening to metal for 30+ years and this one of the most beautifully composed tracks I have ever heard. These guys are true musicians and understand how to put together a song with such complex styles melodies syncopations and straight up composition. It really is a masterpiece
Best solo ever, one of my favorite songs to play on drums. You're rad, I'm subscribing.
Was not expecting to see you react to this already. Hell yeah!
RAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! Anyone else automatically expect Roboturner after the end of this track?
Man this is some classic prog metal. I haven't listened to BTBAM in a while, gonna have to go back and do so.
I think you'd enjoy "Disease, injury, madness" ...really, anything off "the great misdirect"
PLEASE get into Soen. It's an awesome band that has Opeths ex drummer. Can't go wrong with the Lykaia album. It has such a perfect combination of mellow and heaviness.
And a bit of Tool sound too! He might like it!
@@rosariocardoso877 Its like Tool and Dream Theater had a child.
I might have been the anonymous "patron" whose been requesting this ... though not nearly as consistently as Ross. And Drew, I'd say follow the music that interests you. Prog and prog metal are one rabbit hole after another, and it's fun to see you go through the journey we've all gone through ourselves. BTBAM has a lot of songs you'll like more than this, but this always seemed like the natural place to start. Cheers!
Thumbs up for realizing that this type of music needs a couple of listens to be fully absorbed.
I'm seeing a lot of Extremophile Elite in the comments, and I'd say that's a natural progression. BTBAM are legends of prog, and probably THE legends of 2010s prog. They're heavy, though, so it can be off-putting if that's not your thing, but they're worth it. We'll butter you up to Swim to the Moon. In the meantime, I see some Tesseract and The Contortionist in your future.
You would honestly be surprised how much of a crossover there can be between Prog rock fans and Prog metal fans.
My favorite band is The Dear Hunter and my second favorite is BTBAM. Completely different levels of intensity, but the prog is always the common thread.
That slooooow zoom got me lol
Well done. Great song, keep it up!
One of the best metal songs ever! The ending I just want to put on repeat for days.
Trust me. These guys are fantastic. Especially live.
BTBAM
Ants of the Sky
Voice of Trespass, Extremophile Elite, and Silent Flight Parliament would be great follow ups to see the more modern proggier version of Between the Buried and Me. You also notice that Blake Richardson is one of the nastiest drummers alive on these songs.
Do the entire Colors and The Great Misdirect albums
Slammed that like button before you even started talking 😂
BTBAM are my homies! Ants of the Sky is a fun one. White Walls, too. Anything BTBAM. And SLEEP TOKEN...
Worth mentioning most songs off Colors start and end abruptly since the whole album plays as one big song
If he does White Walls, he needs to do Viridian as well to lead into it.
I’ve seen BTBAM 2X’s live. They’re just as great in person as the studio albums. Great band great reaction. Keep Rockin’!!!🤘🤘
Between the Buried and Me- swim to the moon is their equivalent of DT- Dance of Eternity
BTBAM- White Walls is probably their most iconic song but i would check out a few more tracks before white walls and be sure to do Veridian/White Walls thats the short intro song before White Walls that really gives you a fuller experience
Hail Ross! This is one of the best songs ever composed. Literally timeless.
Sleep Token - Higher
Thornhill - Coven
Periphery - Reptile
Tesseract - Smile
Architects - Holy Hell
Loathe - I let it in and it took everything
Reptile 🐐
@@slamdmkv didn't like periphery until Stan and this track in particular
First song I've listened by them in 08 and I was sold.
More Between The Buried And Me please! Extremophile Elite, Swim to the Moon are 2 worth checking out, among many others that I’m sure will also get mentioned lol
This is one of my all time favorites since I started dating my husband. He played a song from Alaska......I found selkies on my own.....this is my fav song because I can understand it in the beginning, the middle to end is why I hooked on. This band has become my favorite band.
Allegaeon “Proponent for Sentience III”
Allegaeon “Gray Matter Mechanics”
Allegaeon “1.618”
Pleeeease react to something by Protest the Hero. That'd be swell, I'd probably wee a little it'd be so exciting. Something from Fortress preferably (mathmetal). Or from Scurrilous (more progmetal).
I've always thought Kezia was the superiour album. Then again, I do have a soft spot for great choruses and harmonies.
@@FrttMs Kezia is an excellent album as well! Still listen to it on a regular rotation.
Between The Buried And Me, Extremophile Elite Live
Happy to see this!
Cannot recommend Extremophile Elite by BTBAM more, and please do the live recording, I can guarantee you'll be at the very least very much entertained. Though, I think you'll enjoy it :)
At first I loved this song in spite of the growls. Now I listen to growls all the live long day. Thanks BtBaM!
I don't see you show up for a few weeks and you finally play some BTBAM while I'm away!!?? Yes! ...
Dude, there's such a huge BTBAM library of amazing songs! Selkies was an aggressive start... Newer stuff is WAY more down your alley.
Next: BTBAM, Silent Flight Parliament
Echoing other comments to do something from Haken. For something a little less heavy and extremely proggy: Cockroach King -- for something with heavier elements and not too long: Invasion. No growls anywhere in sight, either.
Except for the Architect. Sort of haha
I call these guys the Rush of Metal
When I was a kid Dream Theater was my favorite band. Then as a grew up, BTBAM became my favorite. Nice work bud. Other songs I suggest by them are: Memory Palace; Astral Body; Blot; Disease, Injury, Madness; The Grid; All Bodies; Extremophile Elite.
I would love to see a full album review of BTBAM's the Great Misdirect.
Bro the guitar sweeps alone got me addicted to this f****** song. Years ago
This song is a masterpiece
Leprous - From the Flame ..Surprised you aren't getting more requests for Leprous being not into growl vocals and all.. Einar is seriously the most unique clean singer in prog metal.
Leprous are absolutely phenomenal
Between the buried and me is one of my faves! Listen to extremeophile elite live In studio so sick or the silent parliament
BTBAM are amazing musicians. Great songs all over the place in their discography. A lot to discover although it may take some time to get into some of the more complex songs. Voice of Trespass would be a great follow-up to this track :) !
This is a great reaction! This band is so underrated and they are truly one of the most talented and all around true musicians currently in prog metal. At first it can be a bit jarring getting past the deeth metal vocals, but once you take a deep dive into this band it will really put a smile on your face. Their latest 4 song ablum Automata II is a great starting point as they have cut back on the growls quite a bit. The first song The Proverbial Blow is an amazing track.
You should definitely do Between The Buried And Me - White Walls......Masterpiece song from One of THE BEST Prog metal albums if all time, Colors
The Great Misdirect and Colors are basically perfect albums, dubbing for more BTBAM reactions
Hey man, idk if you've covered them yet, but Primus would be a great band to delve into that have a cult following I'm sure would jump to see a react video. Proggy elements, kinda funny/weird, and filthy instrumentals. Tommy the Cat, Laquer Head, and John the Fisherman are usually the classic ones people use to introduce people to them. For background, they made the South Park theme song and John the Fisherman you might recognize from guitar hero
Nice
You absolutely have to do The Contortionist - Language Pt.1-2. They blend into each other and should always be listened to together
BTBAM - Sun of Nothing and then one of my all time favorite bands Isis-Dulcinea.
Please react to Between the Buried and Me - Extremophile Elite (LIVE). It's a live studio session, and an absolute masterpiece!
Check out limb from limb by Protest the hero
You'd really dig 'Haken - Veil'. It has clear vocals and is really progressive!
Couple songs I've been chiming in about: Ayreon - Age of Shadows/We Are Forever (Taycott version), and Storm Corrosion - Drag Ropes. Both prog rock (no growls) you have not covered before, though there is a lot of inbreeding these days.
I'm on the same boat as you. BTBAM's prog elements are brilliant and I really enjoy them, but when they get that heavy, they start losing me a little, so it's heartbreaking because they are an amazing band otherwise.
Same here. Some of the heavier, growlier stuff just sounds too disjointed and chaotic to me. With that said, Coma Ecliptic is one of my favorite albums of all time.
@@segfault_000 Ha same, Coma Ecliptic is the album by them that really grabs me. It feels a lot more grounded.
Golden rule - biffy clyro
One of my favorite songs from one of my favorite bands. You rock, sir.
Thank you so much please, purdy-please... PLEASE do Colors and i will love you forever&ever💞💞
Fair play to ya with yer statements at the end o'the video, brotha. Honest as always. Theres a ton of different genres regarding rock music to react to. And ultimately, various charters of yer viewers will either look into instantly, or check it out later, if said band aint their cupán tae. Im not really a BTBAM fan meself, but this was the first time Ive heard this track here. The intro reminded me of Dream Theater and some of the twists n' mellow turns caught me out and kept me guessin where it was goin'. With this style of tech prog, the vocals usually hit the growl factor. Which, yup, can be polarising, depending if you like that sorta vocal approach. Id prefer to hear more singing, melodic shouting meself but hey, I respect the band regardless. Im gonna go again for Trivium to suggest to ya- What the Dead men Say. Cracking song.
Saw these guys open for Devin Townsend, great show!
I will always watch a BTBAM reaction!
Honestly, do the entirety of Colors. All the tracks lead into the next to make it one long song. It's a masterpiece.
Each song is almost an albums worth of content from other bands.
Every time I check your channel now, I'm looking for another Mastodon song:) But BTBAM is great as well. Kudos!
Between the Buried and Me - Extremophile Elite (live)
So good!
More of this!
Caligula's Horse - Dream the Dead
for real
Now do Extremophile Elite or Voice of Trespass :D
Extremophile elite but the live studio version
If you ever want to do another one. Check out INFORMAL GLUTTONY. You seemed to enjoy this
Disease, Injury, Madness. Best BTBAM track in my opinion.
Opeth A fair judgement/burden
This. Needs. To. Happen.
BTBAM is the most complete progressive metal band I ever listened, I recommend you to listen all their albums a few times. They are the "Mozart" of Progressive Metal.
Valid points on the vocals.
BTBAM is in a league of their own
React to between the buried and me "white walls".
Plsss moreeee btbaaaaaammmm!!!!! 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
you should do Coma Machine by them, along with the vido!
Between the Buried and Me- Extremophile Elite
Please do some more between the buried and me dude
Great Band! Mordecai is awesome but i think extremophile elite you will enjoy
Amon Amarth - War of the Gods
Amon Amarth - Guardians of Asgaard
Amon Amarth - Valhall Awaits Me
Fossil Genera!
