In this video I show how I was able to get the rear bumper removed when my bracket bolts broke off. This should work for Volvo 850, S70, V70, C70 and other Volvo cars.

great idea-my bumper needs your expertise a cutting torch, welder, and a power pac or comealong. you r lucky yours aint like mine,crunched down-bent metal- the car runs fine.

why not just cut the old bumper off which would leave the brackets workable
cut it off with scissors?
No Rob a disc cutter or electric saw ,I take it the old bumper wasn't needed,so destroy it

That's the best way to do it. Back when I did that video I did not have a tool that could cut that bracket. I was in such a bad place financially I couldn't afford one. However, I would have found a way to do it this way.
