You're quite right. Texas as a mythical "better place" as you put it, came into existence when the "Dallas" TV show was first aired in the former Eastern Bloc.
@@IGLArocknroll People have dreamed about Texas since the 1820's. Americans left the United States to become Mexican citizens of Texas.
When David Crockett lost his seat as a Congressman representing Tennessee he gave quite a speech to his constituents, saying "As you have chosen to replace me with a man with a timber toe (wooden leg) you may all go to Hell, and I shall go to Texas!"

I heard this song for the first time on 10/5/18 and couldn't believe it was from the 80s because it seems so timeless. Makes me want to road trip through Texas, and reminds me of a great film called "Paris, Texas".
Soundtrack of that film was awesome
Harry Dean Stanton was awesome. How much he conveyed with just a look.

It’s a great homage to Chris Rea’s influences ! Sad some folk can’t see that and at same time think they know everything ! Well they do know everything in their box ! 😂. If only they could get out on one of those big long roads out there ! 🖖🏴
I love Texas.
I served ,proudly in the Texas Army National Guard & I have to say, This is a very fair representation of the local military here, helping others out.
Thats what the True military Is about!
The evil media will make you think otherwise however
The people who serve ARE about loyalty,Respect & Honor.
Thank You Chris for making a solid video about my great home State!
