- It is done! Well, it's about 95% done, still have five of the forty or so boxes I moved in with that still need unpacking. But all the furniture is here and built and the temporary Mancave is now a permanent Mancave. Let's take a look.

about the buzzing noise from the bathroom socket, It's probably just a loose contact from the wiring inside of it and pretty easy to fix. FIRST TURN OFF THE POWER AND MAKE SURE IT'S TURNED OFF!!! then take out the socket (should be 1 or 2 screws holding it in place) and gently pull the wires to see iff the screws holding the wiring are loose. If there is a bit of wiggle room, tighten them up and put the whole assembly back together. The buzzing sound should be gone, if not, just replace the whole socket with a new one. But always remember, elctricity can kill you so if you're not 110% sure about what you are doing, don't do it and call an Electrician.

Edit: You guys are laughing about people not checking for zero voltage on the wires but my old boss was that kind of guy who thought turning off the power is for wimps. There are no excuses for not making sure the power is really off. BTW, my old boss died because he fell from a ladder after getting electrocuted by a ceiling lamp cause he didn't turn off the power. He probably survived the electrocution but didn't stick the landing. So again be safe!

@@hiorka There are non-contact voltage testers. Every modern electrician has 5 of them, and I highly recommend every homeowner get 1 for the toolbox.
Put the battery inside, turn on, put near the wires/plugs/sockets, if it beeps, its live, keep flipping breakers until it stops beeping.
Don't unplug it.... This will only take a minute.... hold my beer :)
Forgetting to switch off the fuses would be like forgetting to equip granades - basically imposs... oh wait... :D ;)
in canada we tape the socket all around the side to secure the wires and protect from unwanted contacts. Also the electricien is sooo right on this one TURN OFF THE POWER !!!! just put the breaker off. please

I was very fortunate to use my VA home loan to purchase my first house out in Oregon USA at the age of 24 just a couple years ago and man it is truly a liberating experience! All the best Jingles!

Tip: Don't leave the model paint in front of the window, and over the heat radiator. Heat and sunlight are both enemies of chemicals. Its no problem for the duration when you paint, but overexposure to heat and light can mess things up.
Amazing end-result otherwise!
he shouldn't be painting in the same room that you have computers in... airborne metallic dust hanging in the air will torch a PC
That's why I have a booth with an extractor fan.

Paul, you might consider cutting an access opening in your cabinet for the power strip. This way you will be able to slide the unit over the remaining couple of feet allowing the door to be fully opened. This might be helpful for egress if you had a fire in the space. Something to consider.

Father was USAF for 24 yrs and I was USCG for 26yrs. Moved a time or two. Making a bunch of rooms a home is a challenge. Well done. Fair winds and following seas.

Always good to see a house with cats that has random cardboard boxes in the living room. It's always a fight to get amazon delivery boxes away from our two. Also, Jingles, maybe consider adding clear fronts to the hallway display cupboards or else you'll be bringing shopping or luggage in and taking out half of Oorai Highschool by accident!
Plus it will stop the models becoming dust magnets.

Jingles for the spare bedroom get a flat head extension cord for behind the big wardrobe. That way you will be able to slide the wardrobe and open the room door all the way
That wardrobe in the spare bedroom really brings back the barracks room look for me - the whole room isn't far off from a cabin I had whilst at a naval station here in Canada.
Jingles I've watched you for around 8 years now, since back in the Bohemian Eagle days. I'm so glad to see you're still kicking and have a wicked home!

As a veteran with 20+ years in the US Army. I know what a pain it is to move. In fact it has become my number 1 pet peeve. I live in an old Victorian house in Atchison, KS. It is WAY too much house for a single man. But I’ll be plucked if I move. Congratulations Jingles, your on the back stretch heading home.
Those ice machines are awesome. My 3 week old baby was crying and I held her while watching this and immediately when you started talking, she quieted down and went to sleep.

Great place you have. If you want the spare bedroom wardrobe moved all the way into the corner to be able to open the door and have a little bit of extra space beside the door you could put some holes for an opening to the socket in the back of the wardrobe. Only if there aren't going to be any more of those drawers in front of it ofcourse. 😉

Had to put a closet together for my wife just like urs in the spare room, but it wasnt "just" 2,5m long. It is 6m long and took me 16h to put it together, but now my wife is happy and u know what they say ... happy wife happy life :)

Yay! That awful mirror has gone. The 'office' looks like a nice place to be now. All you need is a garage or shed in which to put all those bits and pieces that are too good to throw away, and that you may use one day for something or other.

I've always been an advocate of saving for GOOD wooden furniture instead of buying cheaper alternatives, we've had the same solid wooden tables and bookshelves for over 40 years now and they're still almost as good as the day we bought them, if we'd spent less on cheaper alternatives we probably would have had to replace them several times by now, so it actually saved us money in the long run.
It's definitely your home now, enjoy Jingles. Thanks.

What a lovely home Jingles! I had to give up my action figure and models collection, way to many dust to handle. The models i just build them and give to my father or as a gift for friends.

Love the deacons bench, that's fab, you've one cozy crib there, also love the office den, many would kill to have such a setup.
We had the same thing with plug sockets as you have in the "spare room"; we put a switched 3 way extension in and built the cupboard in front of the plug. You need to get a slim plug fitted to the end of the extension but it worked for us...

The residue on walls is why i recommended egg carton soundproofing 🤣 get some padding for window shutters to help insulate and soundproofing especially in months with more weather .
