  • Markets never change - they're controlled by crooks and swindlers and are not there to benefit the likes of me and you.
    The retro gaming market is no different and you are being lied to by resellers (and that includes 2nd hand gaming companies like CeX).
    Learn how to beat the system by not falling for their shenanigans.

    I'm quite surprised by the 360 price increases, I didn't anticipate we'd see £100 games so soon. I've got the majority of the expensive games and paid nothing like their current value - and that wasn't that long ago. Hey Donald, great video dude. A great topic of discussion cause I can definitely say I have fallen into the "FOMO" trap in the past, rushing to an offer/deal for a product thinking it's the best I'm going to get when in reality (as I've learnt overtime) there's always a better deal out there. People always need to check alternative distribution sites because there is always someone willing to give the same product away, perhaps in the same condition but for a way better price. You've earnt a follower in me! Keep up the great work 😎

    At least here in Seattle where I live,
    My local game stores don’t do the shady change price model at checkout. I did a trade in of some GBA games I had to get some 360 games and got Bullet Witch CIB with poster in excellent shape and PriceCharting had it at 120.00’at time of purchase but it was priced at 36.00. I also got Velvet Assassin CIB for 16.00 and was worth 50.00. They honored their price and sold it and told me I got a good deal.

    You don´t even need that high end of a PC for the Emulation route. I played a couple of PS3 games as perfectly fine as they can be emulated as of now on a PC that would have been high end maybe 9 years ago. Sure, some games will need a much beefier PC for emulation, but I played stuff like Afrika, that stupidly expensive 50 Cent Shooter and the Gran Turismo HD Demo thing without noteworthy problems.
    That being said, what also helps is being fine with less desirable editions of a game, often these Greatest Hits, Platinum, Essentials, Players Choice and whatever they might be called versions, if available for a title, are the cheaper option because most people want the original variant.

    Quality video mate.
    FOMO is real. I usually don't mind paying around 20ish for something, but it usually depends what it actually is. Like for example the Dead Space remake was on sale at Argos, £22.99, I snapped that up, since the price of that game has been quite steady since it released. Other than that though, I don't mind paying a couple of quid in CEX, other times I've payed about a 10er for some PS4 stuff, but like you said mate, no way am I paying £80-£90, or even £100+ for SNES cardboard and all that type of stuff.
    I don't even own a SNES and I doubt I ever will, I'm not exactly leaping over fences to have one, plus emulation is also a thing. I'm not a massive lover of pirating or illegally obtaining games, but sometimes I don't really care.
    Love the video anyways, don't give into FOMO, that's the slogan!
    Quick edit: I passed someone's channel the other day, they had a comment saying why don't you save cash instead of doing the usual weekly spend on games, the guy said it is impossible for him to do it in the reply. People are moving like addicts nowadays. Disgusts me, because I know how hard it is to stop and I don't always follow my own moral compass, but I do despise the collecting behaviour funnily enough lol.

      @DD93AFC 100% I'm no criminal, but I'll be buggered if I'm going to pay ludicrously high prices for ancient games just because some chin-stroker wants to inflate their value. The amount of videos on here that seem to solely exist just to do this is unreal.
      On a side note, I know it's the same as pirating but somehow it is a little more legal in my eyes - I bought a Retroboss and it's got loooooads of retro games on from the Atari 2600 all the way up to the Wii U!

    • @DD93AFC
      @DD93AFC 3 месяца назад +1

      @@donaldmackerel The collection can only expand so much anyways 😄.
      I think the Retroboss you bought isn't a bad idea. At some point, and I always tell myself this, I'll probably be getting rid of alot of the backlog once I've played stuff, but the fun thing is, I hardly play alot of it at all 😂.
      Another reason above why I won't spend extortionate amounts. Back in the days I was okay with day 1 £40 prices, and one of my mates says the same thing to me whenever we talk about it, but now it's become £70 a generation later. Why pay that when in a years time, it could potentially be 50% off that? Make it make sense 😂.
