      I like Mike, buuut he is pretty wrong here….you do not train at above 90% consistently in training for power. Any power lifter, runner, swimmer, decent coach knows this. Training in sub-maximal effort is an extremely important part of training.

    • @edwardlenovo3240
      @edwardlenovo3240 8 дней назад +1

      @@jimbro6539 except he was specifically referencing the parts when this charlatan was saying, we are doing this bs move for "power", except what they were doing was no where near maximal effort. If you are training for power then yes you are going to be 80-90% of your max effort. Powerlifters DO know this, and why their training is mostly made up of singles, doubles, triples.

    • @edwardlenovo3240
      @edwardlenovo3240 8 дней назад

    • @jimbro6539
      @jimbro6539 8 дней назад

      @@edwardlenovo3240 I don’t agree with much of what his trainer is saying. However I don’t agree with Mike on training for power you are in the 90% range that is what I’m referring too. I would agree, just put your arms down lol and run at that same pace, because the arms up form is wack. But As a sprinter, swimmer, and powerlifter. You do not go to the gym 6 days a week and hit 90% each day. A lot of the singles are in the 70-80 range. Even the back down sets are in that range. Being in that range can last for weeks until you have certain weeks you absolutely go to the 90 percent range but that is a small portion of a training block.

    One of the underlying themes that I take away from Dr Mike's videos is that convincing the body that it needs to adapt requires substantial effort beyond what it normally does, particularly if it's a trained body. Things that are difficult just because they are new are unlikely to create adaptations at meaningful level. The body needs to be persistently challenged to consistently adapt.
