Meanwhile, companies that keep profiting off of cheap plastics will continue to dump their trash into the oceans regardless. Looking forward to next years $60million ocean cleanup since you aren't holding the correct parties responsible. Might as well delete these comments since nobody seems to care about the truth. Companies are responsible for the plastic waste everywhere. Before plastics we had glass. Glass is recyclable while most plastics aren't regardless of those blue bins they put out for your posterity. In other words, most of those numbered plastics go in a land field. About 80% to be precise.

@@SweetCandyDragon First, I see that you are using the antiquated Imperial system while the rest of us are using Metric and SI. If you have one thousand tons you are allowed to call that a kiloton. There, first Metric lesson is free. Secondly if you think the Rivers are the primary source of garbage in the Oceans then you are absolutely and completely wrong. The primary source is straight up dumping garbage in the Ocean...from a ship....just bags into the water. And this whole campaign is just a scam.

@@cap321 Yes, he's had scammers arrested, call centers shut down and he's got scam bosses on the run. He even phoned the Cybercrime Department in India on a livestream the other week to report a call center. If he finds victim lists on scammers' computers, he will spend hours and hours phoning victims. Not all will have fallen for the scam but for those that have, he will give them back the money they lost, he calls it 'making them whole again', using funds from The Force. This guy is a legend.

What they're doing is taking a big first step. 30 million pounds is a big dent that's sure to make some kind of impact. And when the charity is over, the equipment they're using to do it will still exist and will still be able to be used to keep cleaning up trash. Rome wasn't built in a day. And the ocean isn't gonna get cleaned in a single year. So, rather than skeptically telling people that it won't matter, maybe try a little optimism once in a while.

They're targeting the large patches of garbage in the ocean, which will make life for marine life a bit less dangerous. Sure, that's still only a fraction of a percent in the big picture. But, in hard numbers, that's still a lot in the grand scheme of things. It's like how Texas is only a tiny fraction of a percent of the surface area of Earth, but it's still used to compare things that are massive. Because when you actually look at it, it IS massive. And even if you're still skeptical and still think 30,000,000lbs of trash won't do anything, keep in mind that this will have a societal impact, as it will motivate people to believe that with enough effort, the oceans can be cleaned up. Most people agree that huge patches that might as well be islands of trash in the ocean are bad. But, up to this point, most people have thrown their arms up and basically agreed that they can't fix it. Yet, just an engineer and some RUclipsrs are aiming to take out millions of pounds of it.

My grandmother was scammed out of $30,000 earlier this week via a “Microsoft” scam. The number they are calling with is STILL answering. Would love to share more information with you to try to shut them down!
