    Thank you so much for this video! My dream job and I'm doing as much research as a senior in highschool since I don't really have anyone to guide me 😅
    Quick question! Did you have to go through Nursing school after college or can I just go straight in with a BSN?

    • @beingsalinya
      @beingsalinya  Год назад +2

      Hi there! Great job doing your research to get yourself where you want to be! You can get your nursing degree in college and achieve your BSN. I just took a different and longer route! Hope this helps 😇

    Hi!
    Do you have any tips to help get into Nicu nursing as a new grad ? I graduated nursing last month, and I’m really interested in going this route. I get really discouraged because most people make you feel like you have to start in medsurg etc.
    Also how long was your residency? I have a lot of anxiety because sometimes I feel like I don’t know anything, and to be basically thrown out by yourself scares me.
    Any advice ?
    You are so beautiful by the way!

      Hi girlie. Thank you so much 🥰 I actually have a video on my channel already that I think would be perfect CHIT CHAT| How I Landed My NICU Nurse Job Straight Out of College! 👩🏽‍⚕️ruclips.net/video/MzHrH3XqZ3k/видео.html. Please feel free to check it out. I also have other videos on my channel that have been filmed since I began my first job as a NICU nurse.
      For advice I can say do not give up and trust yourself. If it was easy everyone would do it. Have a pep talk with yourself and remind yourself why you deserve this! When people say you have to go to med surg that is not true. Just because they had to does not mean you have to follow in their footsteps. Try your best and things will land where they should. Thanks for your comment love ❤️

    • @beingsalinya

      Hi. I didn't have to take any specific courses to get into my Level 4 NICU nor Level 3 NICU. I am sure my Level 3 experience did help with getting into Level 4, but new hires can also be hired. Hope this helps.🙂

    Heyy salinya Question… I want to
    Work in the NICU but I don’t want to be supper hands on with the more severe things.. I want to help with the babies feeding babies, preparing milk, vitals, I don’t want to work with super sick babies. Can you please help… what position would best fit this ? What schooling degree do I need? Hope this makes sense

    • @beingsalinya
      @beingsalinya  Год назад +2

      Hi Divine. The level 4 NICU is where the most critical babies are. Maybe a level II would be a good fit for you or even a mother baby unit until you become comfortable. The babies on a mother baby unit are mostly healthy infants who are just awaiting discharge. To become a nurse in either one of those specialities you need a nursing degree such as your BSN. Hope this helps. ❤️

      take it as a failure but see it as a learning opportunity. There is a lot of power in "Yet"; you are telling yourself that you will get there and that your eyes and heart are still fixed on your goal.

      @caitlin Heyy I’m actually a nicu tech in a level 4 nicu. We are basically there to help the nurses with the babies, we do feeds and vitals every 3 hours, document, change diapers, we stock the rooms and cribs with diapers, chucks, blankets, hats, shirts. We send labs for the nurses, comfort the crying munchkins, bring the babies out the hospital for discharge. Inform the nurses of any changes we may notice, bringing new milk to milk bank and dispose of old milk. And basically just be available if any nurses need you. I also have a RUclips video of a day as a nicu tech that I’ll be putting out in the next week or two if you wanted to check it out. Hope this info helps! And congratulations on getting the position! ☺️

    Do you take care of full vent babies often?... what type of diseases do the babies have on your unit?. Is nicu nursing easy??

    • @beingsalinya
      @beingsalinya  2 года назад +2

      Hi! At my hospital, I feel like we do not get full vent babies frequently. They do come in our unit, but thankfully they are not on it for the long term. They either just need a boost start in life or need it for them being so premature.
      We have a little bit of everything at my level 3 though... Hypoglycemia, prematurity, respiratory distress syndrome, feeding intolerance, anemia, heart murmurs, hyperbilirubinemia, hernias, IUGR, etc.
      To me no nursing specialty is easy. I think there are definitely hard times of being a NICU nurse. I feel like it becomes a little easier once you have gained a little bit of experience in the field, but every assignment is different, every day is different so you never know how your day will go. Hope this helps. 😇

    Do you have any tips on how to study in nursing school ?

    • @beingsalinya
      @beingsalinya  2 года назад +2

      My best advice for that would to know how you study best. When I was in nursing school I was sure to take my notes on my laptop in order to keep up in class and get all of the information. Then I write it again by hand on notecards to help me study. I think studying in groups help as well as going to review sessions with your professor because they are the ones creating the exam. I hope this helped ❤️

    hi!! im interested in being a NICU nurse. I was curious what if a baby stop breathing what happens? What if no nurse is in the room? Or is there always someone in the room with the premature babies

    • @beingsalinya
      @beingsalinya  2 года назад +1

      We never leave any babies in the room alone whether they are preemies or term babies. We have pod styles so a nurse or RT is in there at all times. If you need help with a situation there is a code button by each baby's bedside. I hope this helps 😇
