The singing voice of Jack is Danny Elfman, the music composer for most Tim Burton movies and the Tobey Maguire Spider-man movies (also The Simpson's theme song). Sally is voiced by Catherine O'Hara, the mom from Home Alone and Beetlejuice.
And Catherine O'Hara did the voice for Shock she just changed her voice for that part, Danny Elfman was the Voice of Barrel, and Paul Reubins was the voice of Lock and Pee Wee Herman movies. Not the voice Paul Reubins was actually in all of Pee Wee movies.

There was a TV show back in the 90's that listed the top 10 movies of the week. When this came out it was #1 for a while and the host would give the audience a hint by saying, "It gives new meaning to the phrase 'Holiday Spirit.'" :)
They made a rock/alternative/experimental album of these songs with a bunch of different artists to cover the songs from the film. So good. It's called Nightmare Revisited. Check it out.
Most movies are filmed at 24 frames per second, so they had to pose and shoot 24 separate photos to get one second of footage. It takes a year to get a movie done this way but can't argue with the results.
"The Nightmare Before Christmas" is my favorite Halloween & Christmas movie from my childhood! It's also one of my favorite Tim Burton films. 😁 I really want to see the Homies react to my other favorite Tim Burton film "The Corpse Bride." 😊
My girlfriend and I have a tradition of binging Christmas movies a week before Christmas. Basically, our playlist is: Christmas Vacation, A Christmas Story, Home Alone 1 & 2 (not 3), Elf, Nightmare Before Christmas, The Grinch (with Jim Carey), A Christmas Carol (with Jim Carey), and the Santa Claus (with Tim Allen). Never in anybparticular order, except for the Nightmare Before Christmas, this is a Chriatmas Eve tradition.
MERRY CHRISTMAS ☃️🎄 This is my sister's favorite movie! It was nominated for Best Visual Effects but lost to JURASSIC PARK. It made $90 million dollars at the box office against a $13 Million dollar budget. It's a cult classic for Halloween and Christmas enthusiasts.
I think the expressions for Jack's face were done by changing heads. Unlike claymation were they might re-sculpt the face for each movement, here they had dozens of heads pre-made with different expressions to swap in. Least that's how I remember it from a behind-the-scenes video I saw 20 years ago.
Technically it is claymation. They sculpted hundreds of expressions to match up to the dialogue of the different characters. They just made it so it is easier to pop on and off quickly to shoot a scene.
It may not be clear to people outside of America what the doors are: Heart, Valentine's Day; Four-leaf clover, St. Patrick's Day; Easter egg, Easter; Firecracker, American Independence Day; Jack-o'-lantern pumpkin, Halloween; Turkey, Thanksgiving; Christmas (fir) tree, Christmas
If you ladies want to see Jack bring his unique take on Christmas to those who'd appreciate it, I suggest watching a video of the Haunted Mansion Holiday at Disneyland.
Ah, this movie. I remember when this movie came out when I was 10 years old. I was already into Tim Burton's style thanks to his work on Batman, Batman Returns, Beetlejuice, and Edward Scissorhands, but this one. It was life changing. It was that final catalyst that turned a 10 year old boy into that 90's gothic kid by the time high school rolled around. At age 38, not much as changed lol. Thank you for the nostalgia trip.
Girls, I recommend you to watch the movie "The Elephant Man" (1980) by David Lynch, with Anthony Hopkins. The story is real about Joseph Merrick. It's a tearful film.
Oh they would love that classic...amazing movie. I showed my 15 year old nephew and 11 year old niece and they absolutely loved it and they got emotional watching it.

I think you may like "James and the Giant Peach" which is the same stop motion company as Nightmare. Also can I suggest for a smart 80's comedy, "Ferris Buellers Day Off" for your group reaction👍👍
Patchwork Sally is so endearing. She tries her best to thwart Jack and his disastrous Christmas take-over idea. But Jack Skeleton is determined like no other. I guess that's why he's the Pumpkin King.

Merry Xmas girls Did you girls ever watched: The Never ending story? or The addams family (1991) I requested many movies. but u never do them. i wonder why.

Actions can't be faked. This Steve Burton psychosis play was made for all the nerds, freaks, weirdos and Goth bad girls all of who I love and enjoy extensive 'play' with. I quickly explain the Joy's of God Blessed pain, Oxytocin explosions back and forth as I drain them only to build it back up again. Obviously this isn't a Christian Movie, but you brought back memories that will make my 3 girls and this Christmas an extravaganza of delightful hot wet swollen over and over again. Why this show on Christmas? Telling the Christians to screw off or just clueless, without 'thought'. Merry Christmas, now over my knee!

Thanks for the info.
@DrD000M the actor who voiced Jack Skellington was also the vampire in the 80s horror movie Fright Night
Danny Elfman's resume is long as hell.

The turkey door is very American centered. It is for the holiday Thanksgiving. The shamrock is for St. Patrick Day.
Thanks, because as a french, I never understood what celebration they represents
St Patrick Day world must be wild. Pubs everywhere and brawls with everyone wearing green happening every 2 hours.

There were more than 400 heads for Jack Skellington alone that were used for his facial expressions and words/syllables.
Fun fact: the voice actor who did Jack Skellington’s voice was Chris Surandon who also played the vampire in Fright Night 1985
"He didn't did it with bad intentions. This is just how he show his love." So the problem here is people don't understand Jack's love language! 😝
Cultural differences
He has a good heart, he's just misguided.
The "hen" was a turkey for Thanksgiving. The shamrock was for St. Patricks Day. The heart was for Valentine's Day. Each door represents a holiday.
Oh, thanks for the explication because I never understood what celebration the bird represents (I'm french)
@@a.g.demada5263 sometimes I forget only Americans celebrate thanksgiving

Yes. The theater I saw it at had a display of props from the movie including some of the pre-made heads.
it's not a hen, it's a Turkey, it represents the american Thanksgiving holiday..
It's a wonderful life- Frank Capra (1946)

The hen was a turkey to signify Thanksgiving Day in the U.S. Americans usually dine on a turkey dinner for that day.
The interesting thing, if you think about it, is this "animated movie" is technically live-action. That's what makes it so visually captivating.
