Thank you. I have a pacemaker and am young like you. I was afraid to lift and I'm not afraid anymore. Thank you for sharing. There's not enough of us out there showing others that this is possible.
Thanks for sharing your story. I just joined the pacemaker club three weeks ago, at 57, from severe arythmia. And I have a lot of unanswered questions. One of them was about weight training. The doctors tell me i can and should do it, but with small weights at high reps. I see here that it is at least possible to push heavier weights. And, as you were, i am worried too about stretching to much or doing something that could unplug the cables from the device or pull them out of the artery they are incerted in.
I feel the same way. I am a bodybuilder with an ICD. I also take daily meds due to genetic heart disease. Dilated cardiomyopathy with low EF. I have gone back to high intensity training because I cannot live as a prisoner of the device in my chest but I too with every workout think, is this the last. But I listen to the EP who installed the ICD, I would be living for the sake of the device. I have told not to do most of what I am now doing in terms of weight training. Every day is spin of the wheel or a throw of the dice for me and one day my number will come up.
