You ain't lying! I've been playing guitar (or attempting to) for over 50 years - and I get paid to do it now, to the tune of 50-100 gigs a year - and I'd have to walk away if I had to follow this kid in a show!
Josh is an unbelievably complete musician, but can we appreciate Carson's vocal adaptability and the magic that happens when the lads get together to create actual music. Nothing but gold from these boys.
I've discovered a method to learn how to do stuff like this. You first off get away from all critics including the one in your head. It's nice to have a soundproof room, or some other place. Then, record yourself, just go ahead and sing like people do in the shower. Usually your internal critic will let you do that much. Then listen to the recording. Take note of the stuff that sounds good and what doesn't. Repeat, leaning into the stuff that sounds good. Thing is, you have ears, so you can tell what that is. Gradually you build up a repetoir of tricks that work.
@@pappyfiddle Almost everybody can sing at least OK if they turn off their internal critic and loosen up. However, few people can sing well in all keys. It is important to find the right key for your voice. That's why it helps to play an instrument like a guitar or piano and understand how to transpose keys. BTW, the right key for your voice will be different for different songs. The determining factor is the range of the melody (lowest tone to highest tone) and the range of your voice. Find the key that fits both. Some songs have ranges that are to wide for some voices.
I know this video was a year ago, but I stumbled on it on youtube, I'm 58 years old and have played professionally with Stevie nicks, and prince, and a few others, and this is just so pure!! out standing !!!

Hey Josh, So I watch an interview about how you read your comments, so I wanted to comment. I saw this video back in February, and it blew my mind. I’ve only hear the Cream version before this, and I was mind blown when I saw your take. I loved it so much I decided to learn how to fingerpick so I could play it myself. 7 years playing guitar and I’ve never bothered to try. Everyday I would drive into work, the last song I would put on before I went in was this song, and I would sing along. It always made me so happy and relaxed. Now it’s May and I can actually play the whole song, and I’m currently teaching my dad the vocal part so we can play and record it together. Thanks, Emma
