    Well done James /Ian great job lads...Very good with the Narration of the video Rodger.. Watch you do not cut your leg off with that saw cutting the pipe you need another arm or leg or tail. With regards chipboard years ago when V1313 chipboard came out (think that it what it was called - Waterproof to you and me). we had just put down a Chipboard floor on a timber frame first floor and it rained /snowed for approx 8 weeks. Had to bore holes in chipboard to let the water soak away we swept the floor nearly every day to get puddles /rain off. Thought that floor is gone no good with so much rain etc. .. Sent away small cuttings of chipboard to a lab who tested the chipboard floor and low and behold it passed the test. I was knocked back "Waterproof Chipboard " a new dawn in the building game. Ian will take all the Skill Builder Subscribers for pub crawl back in Cumbria /Lake District to "Top out the Job" (get a drink) start at Far/Near Sawrey and make our way from there (Ian will know) ...Get you orders in before the beer goes missing bring your own door stop. Well done one and all....

    Great vid Rog. I'd love to hear your thoughts on the price increases, saw one earlier this month from Jewson - almost every category has gone up about 10% (some 15%) and the ONS says inflation is at 2.5%!

    • @jimichip
      @jimichip 3 года назад

      If you’re talking about a countersink bit then yes they are good and really help to stop timber splitting when you drive a screw in especially when it’s near to the end of the piece. If that’s not what you’re talking about, I have no idea.

    I noticed the socket heights in the room that James was rolling the floor.
    I thought, and probably wrongly, that sockets had to be 1000mm or something from FFL.
    What's your thoughts please?

    • @becton98
      @becton98 3 года назад +1

      I think that in an extension the new sockets are allowed to follow the existing height in the house, something to do with the heights being apart of building regs and not electrical regs

    • @HowdyPartner2023
      @HowdyPartner2023 3 года назад +5

      Minimum recommended height is 450mm from FFL.
      However as this is an extension and the original house would not comply with current building regulations (part M I believe) the extension can match the existing house which is probably why they have installed the sockets slightly lower than modern regs.

    • @Tommy-on6sl
      @Tommy-on6sl 3 года назад

      Definitely not 1 meter above FFL, imagine how messy that would be with electrical cords

    I heard secondhand today that one of the big developers has been essentially panic buying to keep big sites going, £10m of bricks, blocks, cement and timber all sat for the next phase of a local estate development. No idea if it's true but it sort of makes sense of some of the madness.

    • @benthompson8256
      @benthompson8256 3 года назад

      To spend 10 million on materials for a estate the overall cost of the estate must be at least 30 million. How many housing estates cost 30 million??
