      Cheers mate, Especially since ive just left them in the pot. Im on the mend very slowly, all physio and being told not to do anything. Bloody boring tbh. Especially when all it does is rain. My fault its not stopped since me op

    They are looking really good! I really like your Musa sikkimensis bananas! Have you always kept them in containers, or have they been in the ground in previous years?
    This year has not been the best for growing bananas, all of mine are behind where they were last year. Hopefully, we get a warmer summer next year and they all take off 🤞

      Hi mate last year they were in the ground, over wintered them in the pots they are in, inside the garage, left them in there this year and just feeded as and when. I totally agree with you the bananas that were taken back to the ground after winter have been really slow to get growing this year but have put some size on

      🤣🤣🤣😁😁 it only takes my husband 2 minutes now to mow the lawn 🤣🤣🤣 so he's happy, all the other work I do, he just likes the final result, I can have the garden as long as I dig it out myself.....so I did 🤣

    My banana tree was growing fantastic (around 2' in three months to make it 3' overall )....so decided to move to a bigger pot and then this heat wave came along in September...now it's drooping and lower leaves have died off (top 3 leaves still look healthy tho)...is it dieing???

    • @mattsuktropicalgarden
      @mattsuktropicalgarden  Год назад +1

      No it's not dying at all. Probably in shock, 1 due to re pit and other is the heat. Just make sure it doesn't dry out keep it well watered and it will re cover in a few weeks. Just make sure you don't over winter it outside since it's in a pot 🌴

      @@mattsuktropicalgarden thanks for the advice 👍...I'm investing in a poly tunnel in the coming months after losing some home grown washys and a few other plants at the beginning of this year...(bad frost we had)....I now have 25 new washys (approx 7" tall and under cover this time)...3 dicksonias..the banana plant ...a 3' washy and a few chamerops of good size..(everything in pots)...and I'm hoping by wrapping them and placing them under cover they should all be alright and prepared for a frost if we have one again... would you agree with what I have planned or could you offer any further advice...👍

    • @mattsuktropicalgarden
      @mattsuktropicalgarden  Год назад +1

      Sounds like a good plan, if we have a hard freeze like last year be prepared to fleece or even add some kind of heat source just to keep pots from freezing through

      @@mattsuktropicalgarden Cheers...it was a nightmare lol... I've never had any issues over the years with the plant's I have but this time the frost just seemed to last forever...and it was too late for me to act...can only blame myself...so started again from scratch but this time I'll be more prepared...the banana plant id never had before so was just wondering why it had started to droop after doing so well... luckily it's still nice and warm for recovery... thanks for the advice 👍

      No problem lost loads last winter as well. Learn from our mistakes or not cus sometimes our climate is just to cold for some tropical plants to survive. But we all keep trying good luck mate
