    The parts that you think need work is because you see it every day. I’m sure anyone who visits thinks the same way your subscribers do- that it’s a beautiful garden. I know this because it’s the way I think about my garden too.

      Hi and thank you. Unfortunately I do tend to spend way to much time looking at what needs doing when I should learn to relax with it but for me that’s all part of the fun.

    • @regalportraits3921
      @regalportraits3921 Год назад +1

      I'm on the southern part of Vancouver Island which provides very similar temps to you.
      Summer averages around 20 to 30 Celsius. Winter coldest is around 0 to 10. We may get a handful of days down to -5.

    Hi. I love your garden and fell in love with your schefflera rhododendrium on a video a while back. You seemed to skip over it this time and said you disappointed 😮 Can you tell me what happened, please. I've been searching for one 😊

    • @tikitropicals65
      @tikitropicals65  Год назад

      Hi. I have 2 quite large Schefflera Rhododendrifolias and both are fine. They both got a little winter damage but that has promoted lots of new growth so they should look better than ever. Plus I can now try taking a few cuttings.
      In the video it wasn’t the Schefflera Rhododendrufolia I was disappointed with it was my Rhododendron in my acidic bed that wasn’t doing well.
      I will try to fit in a future video.
      Thank You.

    Awesome garden. Even your so-called worst bits look great! Was wondering where all your colocasia were though. Are all the ones you overwintered outside now? I just bought a Pink china and a Redemption this year. They are in a fairly shady spot, do you think they need more sun?

    • @tikitropicals65
      @tikitropicals65  Год назад

      Hi Dave. Well spotted on the Colocasia. Lots of my Colocasia are in my greenhouse as it’s not been a really warm summer and I can keep the heat and humidity higher to try and get them bigger. I have had them out but they were getting messed up by the wind.
      The Redemption wants to be adjusted slowly into a full sun spot to get the best growth and colour out of it. Pink China would do better with more sun. It doesn’t have to be full sun but if watered well during warm spells should help with growth.

    Really love your schlefferas, I bought a Needhams Form and Taiwaniana after watching your video and so happy with them. Do you ever take cuttings from them? Am on the hunt for a rhodifolia now, not easy finding them in stock anywhere.

    • @tikitropicals65
      @tikitropicals65  Год назад

      I have Needham that I’ve grown from seed last year but they are very slow.
      My Rhododendrifolia has put out loads of side shoots this year so I’m going to try some cuttings in the next few weeks. Hopefully I have some success.

    Hi! Would you mind maybe writing down the plant names you're talking about, or even subtitles? I love your videos, but for a non-native speaker, it's sometimes hard to understand specific words like plant names. Thanks.

    • @tikitropicals65
      @tikitropicals65  Год назад +2

      Hi. I will try to add names where possible to help. If you need any plant names let me know the time it was on the video and I can let you know.
      Where are you from?
      Cheers.

    have you considered nematodes for your slug problem? no pellets etc for dogs and other pets to pick up. and in my experience, have helped control slug populations massively

    • @tikitropicals65
      @tikitropicals65  Год назад

      Hi. I have heard of them but not used them before. I don’t usually have the problem this bad as I have lots of frogs and toads in the garden and usually a neighbouring hedgehog. I may have to try new methods to control them.
      Cheers

    Do you protect any of your Chamrops?

    • @tikitropicals65
      @tikitropicals65  Год назад

      No. I’ve never protected any of my Chamaerops but a lot of people in the U.K. this last winter did get severe damage to them so it’s not to say in some locations in bad winter that they wouldn’t need some protection but in general they are quite hardy.

      Hi. What about Magnolia Grandiflora it’s evergreen but not the fastest growing.
      Maybe a Loquat. (Eriobotrya Japonica) also evergreen.
      In your climate you can also grow many palms would they not work if you planted in groups.
