Tips.
Water the border often during the growing season.
If possible find a way to leave the plants in situ over winter so that the roots are undisturbed.
Cut back all foliage in autumn before the first frost and shred then leave on soil surface.
Top dress whole border before winter with 6 inches of horse manure, it doesn't need to be well rotted in my opinion.
Cover manure in weed control membrane to encourage run off of water during cold season.
Create as much shelter as possible with house walls and other hardy evergreen planting to protect from frost.
aply a layer of straw around the stem or stalk of plants which are exposed.

really inspiring!! i live in Italy (N/E) and the weather unfortunately got much drier (which is a cons) and hotter (which is a pros).. i will follow your videos in order to try to have my personal jungle garden next year :)

I bought taro bulbs from the grocery store a few years back that I believe are Colocasia esculenta and grew them in pots and my garden. I’m in a USDA zone 8b, lowest temp usually around -10C. The one that I left in my garden with minimal mulch and our exceedingly wet winters is the only one that survived. It never gets very big because our springs are quite cold and wet. By the time it emerges it’s being shaded by other plants. But this was its 3rd year returning. I’m quite amazed and will probably move it next year so it gets more sun and hopefully grows a bit bigger
