The reason I keep coming back to this channel: Your videos cover all aspects of the particular retouching technique rather than getting stuck in one way to do things, helped me a lot!
Wish I had time to go through all your videos right now! After a summer of intense learning in Photoshop with this and the dodge and burn video, you've not only simplified, but de-mystified, much! Thank you again...back to work, I'll be back soon!
Amazing! I especially loved the ending portion where you added the color cast to specific parts of the image. Will definitely be trying that! Thank you, as always
Thank u so much! I'm new at all of photoshop CC but realized I have to learn it all, if possible, and trying to find the best ways to adjust skin tones, this is a Great tutorial and opened up so many more options to narrow it down! THANKS AGAIN!
Nice to see somebody that uses PS to manipulate images rather than LR. Not many users seem to know that you can use PS to create masks from Apply Image / Channels or Calculations to proportion the effect of adjustments and be able to create actions to quicken their workflow. My actions normally always include putting the adjustment inside a group and add a Black mask to the group and then brush in the effect. The "Blend If" command is also extremely useful in controlling whether the Highlights / Midtones or Shadows are effected by the adjustment. Your last method could also be achieved by using a Solid Colour Adjustment Layer and adding the Apply Image Mask. Alternatively the Mask could be made first via Channels or Calculations and then add a Solid Colour Adjustment layer. Anyway thanks for explaining the method of FS so well in your tutorials.
Apply image is a great way to make vignetes look much more natural and "blended" together with suroundings. Just use darkening curve and on her mask use apply image-background-invert. This will protect your higlights from darkening. Put it in a group, apply another mask and paint the vignete.
No sorry, I don't at the moment. Basically the most common use is if you want to selectively apply a layer or adjustment layer to a specific luminosity level of your image. You can also use Blend-If but this just gives you a bit more control.
Anychance to have a tut' (or a quick overview) of the most common uses you have with it ? anyway, thank you again for your kindness and community work dude :)
thank you for nice video. For hue/sat, you can stretch it when dragging the frame boarders, so you can do precise tweaking and not changing the pic so fast :)
Thanks for this great tutorial Michael! Could you answer me the question why everyone is using a blank layer filled with a color (like in scene 11:24) instead of using the adjustment layer "Solid Color" ist there any difference? Advantage would be that you can easily change the color without the need of Hue/Sat or whatever other tool.
I think the explanation is fantastic, but it would have been nice to work with an image that wasn't color graded so the effect is easy to see. As it stands, adding blue to shadows that are already significantly blue is counter intuitive...a neutral image would have really given a visual representation that is easy to understand...just something to think about...Great videos btw

The results are barely noticeable.
Exactly! Barely is all it takes.
That's where the difference between a shitty and a good craftsman lie.
