  • Authorities released the full interview with Alec Baldwin showing them questioning him about the Rust movie shooting incident. During this interview, Baldwin is told that Halyna Hutchins succumbed to her injuries. I get it's safest to use an attourney, but being a Norwegian, the trust in society is pretty strong and I think most here would not have that much problem relaying events to the police as they experienced them. Besides, they are loaded with blanks, which is a primer, powder, a casing, minus the projectile. What could have happened is like what happened to Brandon Lee, where a revolver had a squib load, which is pop and no kick. The round doesn't have enough force behind it to exit the barrel, so it gets stuck. Then when a blank is loaded, it ejects the round like a regular round being shot. That's what killed Brandon.

Ex-cop and soldier here. I have never fired that particular weapon. But I did once own a S&W 44 mag. It had hardly any recoil at all with the ammo I used (target practice). I had several privately owned weapons while in the Army.
I once brought my weapons to my parents house while on vacation. My Mom never fired a weapon in her life. That 44 mag was the only one of them that she liked. Only because it hardly had any recoil. So it's certainly possible that colt 45 had very low recoil (depends on the round). But tbh that's probably the last thing on his mind when he's filming. The most basic rules of gun safety is to always clear the gun for yourself, even if you trust the person who hands it to you. You always always render the gun safe, or at least check it. Alec Baldwin was required to check the firarm himself (Screen actors Guild Safety Bulletin page 4 paragraph 1) or have it checked for him in his presence. He was never to aim a firearm at an individual (Course S of Contracts and services). He had verbal instructions to never aim a firearm at an individual; he admitted that in his ABC interview. Alec Baldwin ignored the movie, industry safety protocols; that was not an accident, that was a choice. He aimed the revolver, pulled the trigger, shot and killed Halyna Hutchins. @@dangerous8333 yeah I assumed the people reading it would be smart enough to infer what I meant, but apparently Dan wasn’t. So I’ll go ahead and enlighten and educate ya.
Often when police question people they will start with a friendly approach. “Hey we’re just tryin to figure this thing out, it’s not a big deal. It’ll be easier for everyone if you just tell us what you know and we don’t need to get a lawyer involved.” And a lot of people assume if they’ve done nothing wrong then of course the police will know that and nothing will happen to them. But the police often are lied to, almost always. So they work on the assumption that you’re hiding something and lying. They let you talk, then start trying to catch you. They twist around words and things you say to try to make you feel like even being confused about an exact time or date is tantamount to guilt. And then they tell you if you admit to a crime they can “see what they can do to help you.” Which usually is absolutely nothing. They say “but if you talk to a lawyer, there’s nothing we can do for you, we’re gonna have to charge you.”
And they will say all of that even when they have absolutely zero evidence against you. They just want to see if you’ll admit to it and have no other leads

Wow that first phone call says a lot about how Alec is and was feeling about the killing. He is upset and saying he doesn't want to be a puppet while he was holding the gun. Kind of tells you his state of mind right before the shooting. He was not happy with the Director telling him what to do on set. He also admits to not checking the gun like he should have, with the statement that everyone hands him a cold gun. This is also a good example to never talk on your phone in an interrogation room because they are recording even if they are not in there. Just sit there quiet until your Attorney gets there.

It's easy to say he shouldn't have talked to them without a lawyer, but remember he did not know she had died at this point and I guess his concern for the people he thought were just wounded was greater than his concern for himself as he did not even realise there was a manslaughter involved. You can tell he's trying to figure out what happened and wants to work with the police.

That is a myth that having a lawyer makes one look guilty. Guilty to whom? The detectives? Who cares what they "think". Their opinion doesnt matter as far as some made up idea that you are guilty if you arent. But everything is recorded and without a lawyer it is much much more risky that ones minimal knowledge of the law could entrap them with their own words.

However, he was negligent on scene but after watching the Hannah trial thus far and all the interviews with everyone…it’s just not a qualification of an actor to check the gun. He is right that this is what the other people are for. Jensen checks because that’s his deal, but he was honest about could you imagine if the actors had the last say? No. I don’t think this is his fault. Whether you like him or not, but he had been negligent on the set.
