- We've talked about the green scream effect and how to set it up but how about where to place it for the best lead boost? So for this edition of "Kemper Tips and Tricks", Hw discusses placing your green scream for the Kemper (or any Tube Screamer) before and after a gain stage. Before adds fullness and a more cascading 80's gain type tone where after provides less gain and a more dramatic eq shift.

I've watched this video and a couple others a few times to figure out this issue for my situation. I believe that while this method certainly makes sense in a worship setting, in which HW has often mentioned doing a lot of work, it isn't effective enough for cover band/club settings. If you're playing in a place with an attentive sound man and a strong focus on good sound at lower volume, like a church, this theory works fine. the reality of clubs is the volume is much louder, the room is smaller with poorer acoustics, the PA quality is often less than desirable, and the sound guys often set up the mix and then passively adjust if something really gets weird. they don't know your set and raise your volume halfway through your solo when they notice the singer stopped. stacking drives, even with the new Kemper drives (and at low level settings so you're not overly compressing the signal) doesn't get your solo loud enough to cut through the mix in these conditions. I've worked with IEM's for a while now, and the result is also the same in your own ears: the solos just don't stand out any other way. So I see the value in what he's saying here for more ideal conditions, but if you're slugging it out for your spots in a bar, a post-stack boost of your choice is going to get you there more effectively.
why do you never have a high gain video ? …
From what I gather watching his videos, he's mostly a "Worship" player. You might get results you're looking for searching Ola Englund videos with the Kemper.
Will this performance set up available with that profile ? I would love the settings on that Soft Shaping / Green Scream .....Super awesome Job on this ....I love the fact that you guys started using also Humbucker based guitar instead the P-90 rig that I love btw just don't have anything with p-90's :( .....
I can make it available on the website. Give me a day or two.
ToneJunkie TV please please I’m going def get it I love the AC15 rig from you guys with that detune affect:) use it a lot ...another thought you have amazing ear and practical approach you guys should offer performances for sale custom build for different needs :)
How can l get the tone(s)? - I own the Powerhead KPA - Please let me know some details (all those numbers, slots, where, etc etc...) because l like it a lot... Could you please send me some (any) of your Rigs, or any help, on how to get and to build some incredible tones/sounds/Rigs...? Thank you.
I have a feeling this will be my new favorite profile, I used to own this amp, favorite amp ever! RELEASE IT ALREADY!!!!
Only problem with this tip is that it doesn't really work when using a distorted rhythm sound that doesn't use a drive pedal. You can never put a tube screamer after the stack section.
I play in a coverband playing about 55 songs a night. It would be far too complicated for me to make a patch for every song. I need to be able to switch in a secondary master volume to jump in front of the band for leads. I get needing a little 3-5k boost as well. Is there a way to program a volume boost + an eq boost to a single button on the remote that can be used on any amp profile?
Well that’s a very interesting thought on eq boost. Can’t believe that approach is overlooked, by myself included. It’s like the obvious elephant in the room.
HW, is it possible and practical to use a simple midi pedal (midi mouse) in performance mode instead of the big kemper pedalboard to switch sounds when playing live? Cheers!
Great points made in this video! Looking forward to you exploring this more and coming out with a Kemper effect setting to match!
FIRST LIIIIIIIKE!!!!! Bro! Hit ME UP
What's up dude!
Cee and I will be in the area next month!!!
Love the matching shirt and cap - well done!
Good information
Except vocals don't live anywhere near 3-5K. The pure sibilant sounds might, but the meat of both male and female vocals (which are in different frequency ranges) range from 450 to 2K, which is where the mids are. 3-5K is pure treble.
