    Thank you....i just installed the passenger side today due to back order and did driver side few weeks ago. Simple and effective addition. Just got my shelby gt350 last month and it is a great peace of mind catching that oil before enters intake. Havent had too clean yet but looking forward to this keeping me on track for such a beautiful machine.

    Great video! Installed the passenger side on my GT350. Have you noticed your coolant return house rubbing the top of that 4th bolt on the right of the separator? Mine is rubbing and causing the rubber hose to degrade. Curious if you have seen that on yours?

    On my 2019 GT350 I don't need to release coolant expansion tank to get access for the oil separator. I just need to move a hose inward only a little. No problem for me. Also, I use plastic syringe to extract an oil from oil separator can, so much easier.

      These were pretty much designed for latter S197 models, so probably why fitment issues occur in S550s. They were designed to be disconnected from lines and push pins pushed up to take it out and pour oil out of the bottom. No where on Ford Performance instructions is there anything about taking the tiny allen screws out. Taking screws out can lead to losing them and eventually stripping them easily (along with not being able to torque them enough).

    Allow me to thank you for all of the great information you have shared with this novice collectible car owner. A year ago I picked up my own Shelby GT350 and soon after found and began watching your channel. You have made it possible for me to engage in projects I would have never taken on in the recent past. So with that said I recently took your advice concerning the “Ford Performance” oil separators driver and passenger side, and installed them yesterday. I got to thinking is there any need or is it necessary to clean out the intake manifold to remove anything that may have made its way there prior to installing these separators?
    Thanks again and keep the info coming!! Next project for sure will be dampening the interior.

    I put one on my 2012 F150 3.5 twin turbo at about 80k miles. It would spit and sputter. I’d have the intake cleaned/fogged and it cleared up. Before the next oil change it started spit, sputtering again. My mechanic recommended the oil separator. I installed an oil separator and it hasn’t happened since. Now it has 140k miles and it’s “not for sale”. They should have installed these at the factory, but then not everyone knows what to do with them. Lesser of two evils I’m sure.

    I put one on the passenger side of my 17 f150 5.0 with normal driving. Check it about every 2 months and suck it out in a suction bulb. I’ve put all the oil in a glass jar to see how much oil would’ve gone back in the intake. Many argue that these are only needed on direct injection motors.

    Nice video. I ran both of these on my 2014 Mustang GT for awhile. My driver's side never had oil in it but the passenger side one always had a good amount of oil in it. Have you checked your outlet lines on yours? When I checked mine, the passenger side had liquid oil in the fittings that attach to the intake. Every time I checked it, it would have more oil in it, even after I used a paper towel to dry it out. I went back to using my Bob's Auto Sports cans where it only leaves a slight oil film in the outlet fitting at the intake. I love how the FP ones look factory but they don't work as well as others that are out there.

    I am really loving your videos, thank you for all the hard work and great information! Did you run the catch cans all winter? I had a catch can freeze on another car which caused massive damage and headaches unfortunately. The vapor often contains water (moisture) with the oil and can turn in to a popsicle which prevents your PCV system from breathing. Pressure builds and starts popping seals! Is there something special about these Ford Motorsports parts that prevents that somehow? I personally will not run the car in the winter with these and if I need to run the car in sub freezing temps I will remove them. What are your thoughts?

  • @jamestone265
    @jamestone265 5 лет назад +1

    You've got to be reving the hell out these engines continually to get that much oil in the separators. The drivers side is the suction side of the PVC system and should have little to oil in it. I have run one for almost 2 yrs and always find oil but not to that amount and no evidence in the suction side line.
    After Talking to a Ford performance engineer concerning these he told me only continued racing only use needed a driver side. The supercharged engines definately needed the passenger side.

    • @jdigitalseven7
      @jdigitalseven7 2 года назад +1

      Its not burning oil. It is vapor blow by..a mixture of oil and gas that gets past piston rings. Every car ever made does this. Used to be blown back into the atmosphere, now they force you to have a PCV system that recycles it into intake. This oil/air separator collects it, so it doesn't go back into the intake.
