I'm 6'2 but I still value having a bike where I can get both feet firmly planted if I need to. The 1050XT felt a bit tall and top heavy to me whereas I found the 800DE about perfect, really interested to see how the 800RE feels - I personally prefer cast wheels to spoked so it may be the one for me if it doesn't cramp up my knees.
Looks a great bike, and the roads awesome. Passed my A licence test Thursday, which means when there is a reasonable day I can finally ride my VFR 800 Rich!
I have a 2019 650 vstrom, looking for a little more poke. This may be my new bike. I suffer from short leg syndrome, so the lower seat height may be perfect. Thanks for the great intro Rich. Hello form a snowy northern Ontario Canada 🇨🇦 😀
Fantastic review there 👍 so far all the press reviews are very positive I’m very tempted, I’ll have to get a spin on one when the hit the shops here in Ireland Thanks Tony
New V Stroms looking really good... only downside for me is its chain driven last couple of bikes ive had have been shaft and its made me lazy lol No cruise control seems a bit of a over sight on suzukis part being a road bike
It’s a massive shame they didn’t include it. It’s to do with price point I guess. The tech is there, so a bit silly not to include it when *everyone* would want it in, esp on a road bike.
Exactly Dave. Things are getting silly with today’s “big players”. 170hp, 150+ mph… we don’t need it, can’t use it, and, I think, can feel a shift coming to the smaller, lighter, more mid-range bikes.
For me it hits the sweet spot between the road and off road versions. Lack of cruise seems a huge ommission. I expect Honda will do something similar with the Hornet/Transalp.
Not sure what roads were used, but it reminds me of the best road in France, the N106 to Ales...near where you were? Good upgrade from my Tracer7, more my seat height compared to the DE800!
Great review! Did you notice any excessive heat being thrown on your legs? That was a criticism of the 800DE but some reviewers report that the RE runs cooler. Thank you~
Very impressive!!! IMO, this is a Great/ do-it-all/ pragmatic motorcycle, which is about 50% less the price of BMW's R13GS, and IMO "will/ should" provide 85% +/- of riding experience & fun factor - YMMV
Strange that my US model 2024 Suzuki Vstrom 800 has different style blinkers. All else looks the same and I think Suzuki hit the target on this bike. I like it so much, I am selling my Triumph Tiger 850s.
Hello friend. I want to make you one question please. ¿What do you think is better v strom 800 or tiger 850 sport?. If you cant write any advantages or disadvantages in this sense you help me too much. I'm looking for both bikes. A friendly hug from Canary Island, Spain.
I think my Suzuki is much smoother. Has better electronics. Quick shifter works flawlessly. Seat and ergonomics is far better. I did sell my Tiger as it just wasn't being ridden after I got the new Vstrom.
Richy, some people complain about small and inefficient headlamps, vibrations between 4000-5000 rpm and annoying heat from engine on your right leg. Did you notice such features? And watching on your movie I noticed very small clearence between brake pedal and the road. Could you comment?
Looks really good, shame it doesn't have cruse control mind 😢 can never understand why manufacturers can't seem to get it right on the comfort of seats they give us which is really important
I love my 1050xt although it certainly is top heavy. I would seriously have considered trading it for a new 800 if only it had cruise control. I use c.c. a lot and riding without it now, nah. Don’t understand Suzuki’s logic here for a road bike, they will live to regret it I’m sure.
Must admit quickshifter is a deal breaker for me. Really don’t like them and most bikes with them fitted are not nice when using the clutch. Will give it a test ride to see but not in high hopes.
@@RichyVida I much prefer using a clutch. I prefer the mechanical feel of bikes rather than electronic assist etc. I have found many bikes with quickshifters even when switched off can feel quite lumpy when changing gear using the clutch. Purely personal preference but enough to put me off buying a bike. I’m a bit of a Luddite when it comes to tech on bikes. Prefer analogue dash to tft and cable throttles. It’s just something in the way the bike feels the more tech on a bike I find it less involving and it numbs the experience. It’s a shame as bikes are getting more tech laden as standard. Fully realise I’m in the minority. Part of the reason i love my vstrom 650 was the lack of technology. Same reason I love the Himalayan.
@@AGardenShed that makes sense, the quick shifter should have been an option, and I wouldn't opt for it either, factory cruise as an option would have been good, maybe they'll include both these as options on Gen 2 of the 800 RE. Have to say the air filter location on this model is a big plus for me, so easy to change, compare it to the nightmare of changing the air filter on the new Transalp for instance.
How about another $600 can you buy the CF Moto HIPEXT sky cruise control it’s got a lot of stuff on it take a look at that road focus no cruise control that’s a no no
I’m didn’t get to ride or test the Transalp properly when I had it in over the summer so I can’t comment on that. Heard a lot of good things about it though.
Only had cruise control on one bike in 45 years of riding. Used it once in France and turned it off again. A pointless gimmick I think, we’re not driving cars.
I took the 800 off roading at ABR this year. What a fun bike, I absolutely loved it off road. Awesome vid Rich
Cheers mate. Yep, it’s a great bike, for sure 👍

Yes I understand. Like you say, if the found the DE about spot on, you’ll love the RE
a good combination for you, would be the re with the tall seat.thats what i m thinking for me and i m 5.11
I'm 6'6 and very confortable on thé 800 SE.
Thanks for your vidéo 👍🏿
I tried this bike and loved her so much ❤
I will receive my Vstrom 800 se (France) next tuesday !🤪
✌️

Defo a step up from the 650. Defo give one a shot!
Spot on that rich. I liked that angle from the foot peg side. That has given me an idea 🤜🤛
Fantastic review there 👍 so far all the press reviews are very positive I’m very tempted, I’ll have to get a spin on one when the hit the shops here in Ireland

There’s nothing to dislike, really. Well, apart from the lack of cruise.
what a great looking bike and some beautiful roads only been south of france once and roads are lovly defo need to adventure there again i think
Thank you for another lovely vid Richy, always informative, but I just love my AT to much.
Nice vid Richy, some cracking riding there mate,,, ;-)

Looks a cracking mid range bike 👌
Surprisingly good, Dale 👍
Nice one,good review.👍Manxman 🇮🇲

Great roads Rich to test that bike. Looks like it really suited them. Why do you need 160hp on an adventure bike? Looked great! Thank you👍

What I mean is the 2024 CF Moto
IBEC Turing 790 it has cruise control
Great video though Richy, I now have the 8 and it’s brilliant!
For me it hits the sweet spot between the road and off road versions. Lack of cruise seems a huge ommission. I expect Honda will do something similar with the Hornet/Transalp.
Lets hope so! If only they made a honuki transtrom 775

Can’t say I noticed anything 👍
I love this colour. It's a pity, the DE was not available with it, would have bought it.
But no need to swap - love my DE.

What do recon Rich, I have a vfr1200. It's getting a bit to heavy Fancy something different
It’s not a tall bike, nor is it particularly heavy. You’d be grand!
Just changed VFR1200X to Suzuki. Riding position is almost identical.
Nice review suzuki vstorm 800 motorcycle.i am interested in it🎉
Beautiful garden/playground it's a shame they don't think about the shorter people when building these bikes because they look such fun.
At 825mm it’s not overly tall. 👍

No issues with lean angles at all. Re the headlights; we didn’t ride at night so I can’t really comment, but, I’m not convinced they’d be much good..
It’s a lovely looking bike. It’s a shame about no cruise control.
It must take weeks to film these videos
How's high speed wind protection?
Very good. Not a fan of that screen, though.
Thanks for this review Richy. The lack of cruise control is a deal breaker for me.
Suzuki need to sharpen up.
Cheers👍
Yes I think this will resonate with many. Shame they didn’t include it.
£20Grand cheaper than a loaded GS1300,and you wouldn't spend a few hundred Quid on C/C...talk about being mi£erable?
Looks pretty good, hopefully it's not going tobe a blue day ,no other colours available,
3 colours. All listed in description 👍
VSTROM 800RE or Transalp 750?
Not ridden the latter enough to make a suggestion, unfortunately
@@RichyVida there you go, a suggestion for another review then :)
Not sure why but I keep seeing the little 250 Strom every time.

For 175cm its not to high ??🤔
175cm? What are you referring to?
@@RichyVida Will be able to support myself with my feet on the ground ?
Aah, got ya! I’m 5ft 10 (178cm) and it’s a perfect height for me. 👍
@@RichyVida ok thanx 😁🖐️
BMW obviously used the same stylists for the new GS.
It must be an awesome bike.but, this design at the frond...i dont know...i think i ll go for the transalp just for this

Agreed
No cruise cont. Is a dealbreaker for me with aging hands and arms , otherwise I would have been very interested.
I fear this may be the consensus for most. Such a shame though, as it’s a bloody great bike otherwise.
aa I've only got little legs
I clicked to find out about the bike, not listen to music, just saying.
Read the description. Just sayin’
First
How can they make a lovley bike and kill it with no CC, mad, plus i bought the last Suzuki you launched, not buying another lol
The GT? Are you not getting in with it?
yes mate, got the GT and love it@@RichyVida
Must admit quickshifter is a deal breaker for me. Really don’t like them and most bikes with them fitted are not nice when using the clutch. Will give it a test ride to see but not in high hopes.
Why don’t you like them? Smooth as butter? It can be switched off in the settings if you want to. Not sure why anyone would, though 🤷♂️
