To think as a teenager who lived there from 1964 to 1971, found it boring and could not wait to get away, which I did to London, the RAF, back to London, Nottingham and then many places around the world. Now 70 and living on one of UK islands which is quite nice, I wish I could go back, sit on the steps around the statue with my school friends from Icknield Secondary, disco nights at the Swan Inn and so many other memories especially the near by towns Abingdon, Wallingford and Oxford City plus the fantastic country side. They say youth is wasted on the young, even more so when you are lucking enough to have your formative years living in such a place as Wantage, especially in the 1970s as a teenager, which only when old and much wiser you realize much how lucky you were. Special thanks and a memory I will never forget, gorgeous Linda H**e, where are you now, who I had such a crush on, allowed me to walk her back home one night after our school disco to Charlton Heights estate where we both live and let me give her a good night kiss and then a person I have hated all my life, as her dad came out and called her in. I floated home and Linda you never knew what a wonder present you gave me, because you doing so gave me so much confidence that I did not have with girls before, but afterwards I certainly did and had a life time of being very successful with women. .
One of the best walks. Amazingly maintained town. Only difference is like the cars have replaced the chariots. And the tents out there. Hope you spotted the antennas. Thank you Alex for the choice. This walk would have been better if longer😊
Sad that our king unveiled that statue but is so far from being what Alfred was. Those lines are as apt today and we need a leader who will fight back.
A very enjoyable video showcasing a very historic town -- sadly with less pubs than before . Wantage had some colourful characters . RIP the late Terry Newton. Is Mike Boyce still in the area ? I don't think I noticed so many flags up during previous visits. What was the occasion ?
Great little town to grow up in.
Much more busy nowadays.
Yes. I've lived here since I was born, 20 years. The place is a shell of it's former self. I see it going downhill very, very quickly.

I have visited all the little corners of England thanks to you
I was over there playing in a football tournament (under 16’s) back in 1990.
Being from Northern Ireland, this was a big adventure back then for me.
OMG! So wonderful! I really love this! Thank you so much!!!!

Thanks! Afraid I'm not familiar with those names, or the occasion for the flags.
A great & intresting video of Wantage Walk: Town Centre【4K】✔✔
Hey, thanks for stopping by!
great city
I didn't see much, except for cars on the road? Don't they have a proper high street or some shops?
