Wow, thanks for the play and all the kind words, Andre. Love how you're seeing the course and trying to work the ball into greens (the thought process on the approach into 12 was spot on). This is definitely right on the edge with the green speeds and firmness, so if anyone wants to tone it down a bit, I'd recommend dropping green firmness to firm and green speeds to fast. You'll get the same experience, it'll just be a bit less punitive :)
@@AussieBronco it'll be coming up in the South Yarra series. Think I did it about midway through, so a little while yet. In essence, it's a combination of the ticket offices, bridges and lots of buried items: city buildings, swimming pools, sheds, canvas walls etc etc. Best way is to just mess around with things. Have a look in mind - in this case, I knew I liked the colours of the ticket building roof and some black and white to mirror the region - and then see what the designer offers you. Look at the different parts of each object as you can always sink things to show just one wall etc.
favourite course in the game and i haven’t even played it. the surroundings r so well done and the planting/vegetation looks super good and realistic. plus the hole designs r greatly thought out like always. excited to see the rests of the courses in the contest. edit: i think the things in the clubhouse entrance at about 17:00 r pools buried under the ground if i’m not mistaken.
First play I shot -2 70. Some of the pins were perfect that required a certain shape shot to get close. If you missed, you have to miss on the correct side (like real golf) or you're facing a very difficult way to make par. #7 with the far left pin is NASTY.
The idea of the collar-less bunkers, aside from the real-world aesthetic, is to allow the ball to roll into the bunkers. When building my first course for this game, Irvine Links (shameless plug), I noticed that even with a light rough collar, the ball sometimes just sticks in there and doesn't end up in the bunker.
Great work Ben!!! Looks amazing! Just a quick not on Hole 7 where you have the grass running into the bunker. I find it funny that because it’s Ben it’s allowed but if a new designer did that he would get ripped apart for having that lol
Depends on the style - if the planting is regularly coming into the bunker and it's a feature of that type of design (search Kingston Heath/Royal Melbourne) then not at all. It's when autogen planting randomly comes onto fairways or bunkers that you run into issues. It's not so much an experienced vs new designer thing, but I guess that knowledge does come with the experience.

as an aussie who has played on the sandbelt courses, everything was easily recognizable. He did an amazing job.
