    With so many electronic gimbals available, yet the persistence of love and admiration for Steadicams and their operators, I thought I'd see what happens when I put both together!
    Thanks to the unprecedented interest in my last video, the one goes into more detail about the equipment and what it can do.

    Lots of great information here and it's welcome that you've pointed out the different hardware bits. It's really missing some footage though to show examples of the results. Would love to see the kinds of things you're actually doing with it.

      Thank you. Sadly most of my work is not available for public viewing, or I don't have access to the footage - and I never seem to have enough time off to shoot a proper demo! There's one or two short examples on my TikTok & Instagram though, search @thesteadicamman

    This is awesome! I got a Flycam Galaxy vest with a dual arm and Redking stabilizer. I'm building it out to work with my FX6 and RS2, it's almost done.
    I wish you could show how to balance it.
    Thanks for an awesome and inspiring video!

    Have done this with my RS3 too. If concerned about fine panning control, why not just lock the gimbal for rotation. Though I have got used to allowing for the RS3 in Steady mode. Great setup analysis and talk through.

      If you lock any axis the gimbal gives the locked axis error and shuts down all the motors, so Steadicam Mode is the only option with these.

    Could you not record audio on the Shogun 7 as it also has dual XLR inputs via the breakout cable? Might further reduce some of the cable snaging while moving through to low mode :) Amazing video will be building towards this thanks John!

      Could do, but then you’d have to use the much bigger files from the Shogun, and there’s be no backup. With the current setup I have the nice XAVC-I FX6 files with audio and backup everything on the Shogun.

    Hello! Thanks for the video… could you post the part used to configure this mode? (Without steadicam of course). How the ronin get power? If you go trough low mode to normal mode is it possible to control easily the vertical position of the camera changing its position during the shooting? (Like joystick)

    Really informative video - thank you! Can I ask, are you left or right handed - and did that determine which side you use the gimbal on?

    • @TheSteadicamMan
      @TheSteadicamMan  Год назад +1

      No, the Steadicam sled is on that side of me so I am facing the camera controls.

    Thanks John. Great video. Where do you source your cables? I need to come from the Flyer 3 pin female power out to the RS3 6 pin female input on the DJI mounting block (= the Tilta, but different sockets)

      Amazon usually, or I make them myself. Had to do that with the BNC out of the camera to make it a flush right angle camera end and the length I wanted. But now I can take 4K through the sled to the monitor & backup recorder at the bottom, so well worth the soldering time!

    Hi John, was looking your videos many times,liked a lot,i have a question: why are you using a30 arm instead of 3a/efp or zephyr arm ? Is a30 so good ?

    • @TheSteadicamMan
      @TheSteadicamMan  8 месяцев назад +1

      The Zephyr is pretty much identical to an A30. Same payload, same size. And for what I carry most often I simply don’t need a bigger arm. Next step up would be a G50x, then EFP, then 3a, then G70x.

    thats amazing! I just all the time struggling with cables. How you tied them all together? Actually i use the tilta float and also use the digital foto thanos. How you balanced with the handle? I took that off. Thanks! Very nice Video and amazing gear!

    G'day - could you tell me what camera plate you have used on this set up ? I'm using an RS3 Pro set up with an FX6 for a job later this week, and the supplied RS3 base plate is not at all suitable for a bigger set up - too short to give clearance to the gimbal arms, and can only connect with one 3/8'' screw. I notice the plate on this video is quite long ; looks to be 150mm ? I know Smallrig make a 3rd party 100mm plate, but yours looks more suitable.

    What lubricant do you find useful for the Steadicam arm spring system? Thank you for the content

    • @TheSteadicamMan
      @TheSteadicamMan  Год назад

      They shouldn't need much lubricating really. Just a bit of machine oil if you really get them dirty.
