The reason these zips kill the bosses is because when he zips far enough away, the platform despawns, making the bosses start to fall. The game has a set timer where you fall for a max 13 seconds. When the 13 seconds is over, you automatically die. When he melees, the timer resets, causing the second phase to start, forcing a tp back allowing him to zip again to kill maliketh, or allow elden beast to keep falling.

I'm sure Hitler found it difficult to convince the Nazis all those people needed to die but he did it. I don't think many people would consider that something to be celebrated though.
@Asmon, how zips work: He changes resolution to get a higher framerate. Zips happen when some animations bugg out using the blocking and walking animation at the perfect time. If the framerate is higher than 60fps this is alot easier, so they lower resolution to guarantee higher rates while they are streaming and recording at the same time. The shorter it takes to time the movement input with the block animation, the further the zip, thats how they control it (thats why sometimes he resets it by walking further I think) :)
Someone in the chat said "I don't like categories where they can pause the timer." Speedruns, at least Dark Souls, are based off of in-game time, that stops whenever you enter a loading screen. That's why the timer pauses every so often, because it's reading the in-game time. It also allows users with low-end PCs to stand a chance.
I don’t pay attention to anyone giving opinions on a matter they know nothing about. I just laugh at them and call the stupid since that’s really the only thing to do
I love the velocity machanic, it is a primary reason for the equipment load needed for heavy. It makes it go further due to the weight. Makes sense in reality but the outcome in game is quite shocking. I wonder what an even higher weight would give, I assume 8% is the best possible to get and still be successful.
done some QA testing and I can say the advantage speedrunners have is massive numbers and no need to file reports. Jokes aside a QA test team can only do so much and the main job is to help make the game as smooth and seemingly bug-free (no game is ever Bug-free there will always be bugs and glitches) for the Average player. Still, every QA tester is a speedrunner at heart every QA team I have been on always competes to see who can beat the game we are testing as fast as possible. Also, the suits in management make our job harder as they think in terms of money, not game design, and many a time they dismiss our concerns and just release games before they are really ready. did not use to be like this but Digital distribution has made most suits think they don't need to pay proper QA testers and just let the public do it instead and call it early access. The dawn of the Day one patch has made the industry change massively in how it approaches game development and not always for the better. End of rant Sorry got a bit carried away there.

You are right Asmongold.. you cannot QA Test a game when using the games own mechanics against itself. QA Testing is not going to catch frame perfect skips, jumps, wall climbs etc, etc - as the requirements are literally FRAME PERFECT inputs and are insanely difficult to be consistent with. The majority of players are not speed runners and will never think of using the games own animations/frames against it to achieve any sort of advantage. The ZIPS are so specific and require a PC capable of doing them that even if they were known about - how do you fix it ? Even if the QA testers are listened too, how do you explain this to a coder, and then expect them to fix a frame perfect issue without major alterations to animations, frame rate and a number of other technical changes to how the game runs ? Also - lets be fair - Elden Ring does not crash when you do this, the game does not simply blue screen you to oblivion or give you 16 x the error messages - the game holds together and allows you to continue - so fair play on that front.
@@miceatah9359 I've seen a lot of people complain about why developers don't perfectly fix these zips, glitches whatever you call it. Well, he just explained why.

So for those who dont understand how he beat the bosses, in case of maliketh and the draconic sentinel when he Zips accross the map into the air the platform in wich the bosses are dissapear making them fall to their death, thats why in maliketh he has to do it twice because the transformation is obligatory and in case of Horaah Loux and radagon and the elden beast when he goes at the entrance at the erdtree radagon spawns and godrick is there, when he zips godrick falls so does Radagon amd the elden beast, when he respawn since godrick falls now is horaah loux but the elden beast fell off the map so he just dies to spawn in tje boss room, i know i phrase this wrong but it kinda explains

The more stuff is thrown into a game, the more stuff will be exploited after a flippin' short amount of time, by some dudes, working way to hard on every single exploit they or others encountered allready in their first normal runs. It was absolutely clear right after Elden Ring's release. It is such an hard and spectaculary game, some guys simply HAVE TO exploid this mountain of a videogame, just to show they totally can. And boy, I somehow simply love it. You spend weeks playing a game you like till it's ending. And others play it for MONTHS, just to gather every exploit and information they gotta' know, only to "play" the game you spend weeks with, in flippin' six to seven minutes... like: "Haha lol you died 16 times on that one boss in 10 minutes, I can beat this game in 6 and don't even have to meet this boss lol." @@richardkutsera4992 Well as a programmer, I wouldn't create every character from scratch. I make a class like non_human _enemy and just put some basic stats like hp, resistances, rune drop, ect... funny thing is, no one is looking into the code. It's been random find after random find. The zip was found randomly, the mega zips were inconsistent but slowly figured out, his routing and where to stand was found through days of him getting his ass handed to him, and the location of all the early zips were found by viewers and other speedrunners. To my knowledge VERY little is found through the code itself.
@@mammy24 Because this kind of glitchs is impossible to find through code alone. It needs specific hardware to run the game that can generate this glitch and combine with perfect frame input to pull it off. No coder ever can look at some normal line of code and think "Hm, I can teleport across the map with this" 😂
If I were a dev I would build in some insane speed run of like 1 minute where all the steps are the most random and unfindable things ever. Like throw a rock at this random tree from exactly 21.234 meters away then spin inna circle 945 degrees while wearing a hood that only appears if you do some other equally random thing. Then tease all the speed runners about how fast its possible to win.
For people who hate on speedrunning. It takes hundreds to thousands of hours of trying, repeating, finding out all the skips (which is more a community effort but still).

I love the velocity machanic, it is a primary reason for the equipment load needed for heavy. It makes it go further due to the weight. Makes sense in reality but the outcome in game is quite shocking. I wonder what an even higher weight would give, I assume 8% is the best possible to get and still be successful.
Probably stronger jump attacks
done some QA testing and I can say the advantage speedrunners have is massive numbers and no need to file reports.

Thank you! I totally agreed👍
Even macros are not consistent in causing the zip glitch. No idea how QA testers are gonna catch those under deadline.

It’s crazy it was 2 years ago, the glitches are very precise and hard to do from what I heard. And the falling glitch is an easy glitch to kill mogh, but the combination of them can kill any boss.

But why even ask, right? Elden Ring is such an amazing game, the speedruns JUST HAVE TO BE even more amazing, I guess. And others play it for MONTHS, just to gather every exploit and information they gotta' know, only to "play" the game you spend weeks with, in flippin' six to seven minutes... like:
"Haha lol you died 16 times on that one boss in 10 minutes, I can beat this game in 6 and don't even have to meet this boss lol." Comedy. 😂

Zip skips are also insanely fucking hard with pixel perfect alignment, this is arguably harder to do then a normal run because it is actually so hard to do good zips.

what do you mean, I use keyboard and mouse and I play just fine.
to add to the explanation, there are two triggers of death when falling,
1.) if the character hits the death floor
2.) after N seconds timer expire while the character is in falling animation
the reason why he doesn't die when falling is:
1.) death floor doesn't trigger because his character is so out of bounced that he's way out of the death floor object
2.) the character falling animation timer resets when you attack

@@exeterra4825 well the thing is that dist has beaten the game "fair and square" dozens of times casually, he didnt just start speedrunning while never having beat the game normally, and to add onto that, the glitches executed in this run are harder to pull off than all the challenges in the "normal game" combined, so i don't think its something that can be criticised

its actually pretty clever how they defeat the bosses, when falling, if they can last long enough for their character to fall far enough away for the boss arena's floor to unload, the boss then falls to his death
But in normal gameplay, bosses can never fall, so never die from falling, so why is it even programmed into the game, that they die from falling?

Whoever is looking at the code for these guys certainly knows their shit. Crazy.
funny thing is, no one is looking into the code.
