This scene in particular is one of my favorites. The English dubbed version makes it more powerful and meaningful. I particularly like the way Vic delivers his lines, and of course Caitlin Glass does a phenomenal job as Winry. Ed has a point, Winry's hands are meant for destruction they have a much better purpose. They're meant to give life.
Are you that stupid? Let’s let go of the fact that you think that Japanese and English sound EXACTLY THE SAME. And talk about how they say things differently since it’s a different fucking language you fucking idiot. Maybe stop laughing your ass of and think before you comment you tard.
Scar has suffered too & is a victim of circumstances too. Scar has regrets about killing the people that were helping the ishvalan but the war must have caused some kind of PTSD or something to him to do that.
@@biteme7857 He was victim indeed, and his motivation had some sense. He wanted revenge from both the state alchemists who killed all those innocent people and mainly from kimblee who killed his parents, but edward and winry didn't deserve his hatred as they didn't invloved in that massacre. They were victims as well. Edward joined the miliatry only to find answers about how to bring back their bodies and winry's parents were killed from scar himself. I think this was the moments when scar realised that their backstories are quite similar.
A lot of anime out there is stereotyped as over-exaggerating scenes of emotion, but one of the reasons FMA-B is my favorite out there is because it has moments like this where the emotions being expressed feel absolutely genuine and expected.
I can only imagine how traumatizing this was for Winry. Learning her parents were killed by a blood thirsty martyr and then feeling the same emotions he has only for her moral conscience to tell her that it's not the right choice. That's what makes Winry one of the strongest characters in FMA.
This is such a defining moment for a show that has a strong anti-war message throughout. We are taught that revenge and meeting violence with violence is a natural instinct, but you see how believable it is for Winry to be unable to bring herself to do it based on the kind of person she is, and how much the world needs more people like her. And when you think about it her being unable to shoot set a chain of events that made Scar rethink his ways and ultimately work together with everyone else. I also appreciate that Arakawa didn't make it "yOu cAn'T sHoOt bEcAuSe yOu'Re wOmAn."
I love this moment so much too. Ed is so comforting to Winry in this moment. She is practically beating herself up for not being able to pull the trigger, but Ed sees that as strength, not a weakness. It’s a gift to be able to give life and to show mercy to people who do not deserve it. Too many people act with retribution and hatred, but Winry acts with generosity and kindness.
@@Sernival no it isn't?? Hawkeye and Armstrong both kill tons of people and they're women, it's because Winry is an automail mechanic she literally improves the quality of so many people's lives with her work, much like her parents being doctors before her. She is just like them, they went into an absolutely horrific war zone and did everything in their power to help others even when it cost them their lives.
Naruto fumble by not copying this your hand meant to save people. Could be a good character development and relationship development between Naruto and Sakura. But I guess the anime fillers already ruined sakura reputation.
@@Sernival I wouldn't say so. There are multiple other female characters that shoot and/or kill regularly, as well as male characters who don't kill. I think it's truly because of who Winry is.

Whenever I hear "Let it out", I always think of either this scene or the scene where Ed breaks through the gate of truth and tells Al's body he'll be back for him. It's always one or the other, which just speaks to how memorable both scenes are.

I agree. "Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood" is the peak of Funimation's 2000s dubs. "One Piece" is also good but FMAB has more heart and soul put into it.
It’s amazing what anime can do for someone. I watch this video when my PTSD gets bad and I ask myself why I’ve never returned vengeance to those who’ve traumatized me. I’m meant to give life, to give love and to prosper. I’m not meant for hate.
Not just any anime can do this thoug. Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, however, is not just any anime. Moments like this, and the sheer gravitas they manage to portray: this is probably why I have to consider this to possibly be my all time favorite anime.
Imagine being so tortured by your experiences/life that you genuinely question why you couldn't bring yourself to kill someone when given the perfect chance. Winry didn't deserve any of this.
I felt tears starting to well up all throughout the scene, but it wasn’t until she hugged him and bawled her eyes out that they finally came streaming out 😭
This might be my favorite scene in the series. I don't cry watching movies or T.V., but I feel a huge well of emotion, and this scene makes me feel the most
