This song is special to me, because I lost my life back in 2018 after 43 wonderful years together. You are so on target with your comments Andrei!! Thanks for the reaction.
Well my friends, that one wrecked me. I've been a fan of Gordon music for years but had not heard this song. My wife went home to glory in April 2023 after 32 years of being my best friend. Occasionally a song will gut punch me... This one did. Beautiful.
Hello, you two and JSC2100: For fifty-five years this has been my favourite song by Gordon. It was very difficult to find a bad song on any of his early albums and this IMHO is superb. I love the way it goes from what appears to be mono to an explosion of stereo. 'A Minor Ballad' is way up there too. Thank you from the bottom and top of my heart for doing this one!
Gordon’s romanticism is so stunning. His poetic lyrics in this one are some of his best. Another one I really love is “Affair On 8th Avenue”, about a beautiful one night stand.
"And if time could heal the wounds, I would tear the threads away that I might bleed some more" Stunning writing! ""Her touch was Autumn, Spring and Summer and the Winter too". She was everything to him!
Geez...what a beautiful tune from Lightfoot. I don't think I've heard it but..possibly. Great music and vocals along with all other of his hits...great pick guys...🎤👍🇨🇦
My sister and I started seeing Gord live in the early ‘70s . Our last show before she passed was in NYC around 2008 or so and every show was joy. He was a true troubadour , his lyrics and vocals exquisite, but many people don’t realize how brilliant his musical arrangements were. Such a treasure . A few favorites are Shadows , Don Quixote, Canadian Railroad Trilogy , Song for a Winters Night and on and on . He toured up until his death . Happy you loved his work.
My friend Kathy and I talk every morning on the phone, she told me in the 70's in Michigan she went to a Gordon Lightfoot Concert with her girlfriend's, they saw a door to the back stage and went in, they met Gordon and he asked if he could give her a kiss and she said yes 😴 she was thrilled. Peace✌️ and Love❤️ your 70 year old forever hippie Gary 😊 great reaction 😢
I am a die-hard Lightfoot fan. Glen Campbell's version of this is even better. Beautiful vocal performance, one of Glen's best ever. One of the saddest and most beautiful love songs ever written. Might be my favorite Lightfoot song of all.
Happiness is all important, but sad love songs are part of the human condition. I find all emotional reponses as proof that I am alive. Disappointment and sadness follow us wherever we go, or we experience no matter what our siuation.

Gordon Lightfoot, the balladeer of a generation. Incomparable.

Gordon Lightfoot is a mesmerising ballads singer from the 60s-70s.

"A million miles beyond the moon, that's where she is". He used to have access to her but now, she is unreachable.

You 2 need to lighten up, check out John Prine's "inspite of ourself"
Glenn Campbell did a good cover of this song.
Yes beautiful cover by Glen.
please do Ambrosia Holding on to Yesterday
Andrei needs a happy love song.
Something like
Neil Diamond - Play me
It's a great song to sway to
And The Grass Won't Pay No Mind is also lovely.
Thank you 😊
You should try Jason Isbell's "If We Were Vampires." It has a similar theme, but different.
