From a non-musician, what is it about these guys that’s better than the others? I love listening to all of them, but I don’t know how any of them are better than any of the others. Are they more in sync, like no “flamming”? Or is it the creativeness/complexity of the music itself? What is so good about these guys that has so many people exclaiming over how good they are?
the level of difficulty is definitely a factor, how well, the drumline and front ensemble play the music "ON THE FIELD"" and how it fits with hornline.
What's better, objectively, is the dynamics. They vary the pressure in their hands note-to-note, which is usually a recipe for dirt. But every player interprets the music the exact same way, thus they are able to have a very blended sound despite the extreme dynamic sensitivity. Most lines, especially East Coast, preach that every 3" tap should feel and sound exactly the same. There's nothing wrong with that, it's just a different style, and it's a reliable way to achieve consistency. SCV is just consistent in a way only they can achieve.
I was at this show. I missed SCVs lot but I did see BC, Boston, and BD. There’s significantly more hype in this crowns than BDs. And they’re a lot cleaner too. 🤷♂️
This is so slammin’ good. No way this line is 5th in drums. I was appalled by the drum score, absolutely insulting.
I was shocked too.
Totally agree!!! The judges need to get their ears checked!
The scores have been whack all summer
Welp, hopefully y’all saw they got 1st in Newark yesterday

@@Prof.CheeseDog Thank you! I now know something interesting and concrete that I never knew (or would have thought of!) before ❤

ayeeee you should've been here with all of us lol
SC BOOM
love that part too
No way on any planet this is a 5th place line. Something has gone wrong with percussion judging the last couple of years.
I agree they should be higher
I despise West coast bass technique.
cope
its not for everybody
@@george9065 No need. Just stating an opinion.
Crystal clear sound.
