I was born in the mid ‘70’s so I got to experience Kentucky Fried Chicken before it morphed into KFC. It was bomb the original recipe chicken, Cole slaw, mashed potatoes and a biscuit! Yummy! I was lucky enough to get my hands on a big bag of the flour and spice mix back in the day when a restaurant closed. I fried my own chicken with it following the steps i could find online and i swear the spice mix is way different in flavor.

KFC has good fried chicken still, it's original style fried breasts are awesome..
BUT their sides are complete nastiness. Only the mashed potatoes & gravy, and biscuits are edible.. but even those aren't good.
Their corn and greenbeans are absolutely disgusting. They both taste like the can they (must) come in more than anything.
When I was a kid in the 1990s they had corn on the cob instead, and it was awesome compared to the canned corn.

Not only that, but Colonel Sanders loved KFC's gravy, he bragged about it being so good that you'll ditch the chicken and drink all the gravy, but when he tried the new gravy, it did not taste the same to him that he would throw the gravy to the ground. He mentioned that the gravy felt like it was thousands of gallons of tap water mixed with flour and starch and ends up with pure wallpaper paste. He also founded his new restaurant along with his wife called "Claudia Sanders, the Colonel's lady" to serve the original fried chicken recipe, but Colonel Sanders got sued by the KFC company for it.

As a former Manager at a kfc restaurant, this is true, its too much pressure on the employees and managers. things are commonly missed due to things not being the way they should but are because of cutting corners, tho ive done things to prevent cutting corners for a better result, they keep cutting corners and it just gets worse. I still do work as a manager but not for long. The prices are ridiculous, Kfc truly doesn't care about quality, they only care about your money like apple. I know someone whose mother developed the recipe for their gravy back in the early 1960’s. Before then each location would make the gravy from scratch each day according to a recipe and she developed the same thing but in a powdered form so it could be made using water and as needed. She had to personally present it to Colonel Sanders and he could not tell the difference between the scratch made and powdered mix gravies. She made a percentage of all gravy mixes used and had a 20 year contract. When the new owners took over they tried to break the contract but couldn’t.
When the contract was finished they changed the gravy recipe so much they did not have to pay her anymore. So if you think the taste of the gravy changed in the 1980’s - it did.

I used to deliver doordash and after a few visits to our local KFC I refused every order from there. They were always out of product and the employees there would completely ignore people standing at the counter. When they finally did acknowledge me they'd say they would have the order in about 30 minutes. I swear every employee looked like they'd just gotten paroled.

Last time I ordered from KFC it was for a party and placed the order well in advance... Got there and was told they didn't even start it and proceeded to serve about 20 customers before getting our food, making us wait almost an hour... food wasn't even that great.
I haven't order there since and that was probably 5-6 years ago.
