This formula looked so delicious, I couldn't help but make it. It turned out very dry and hard. I asked some questions in a formulating chat room from the school Formula Botanica. From the feedback I got, it looks like both ritamulse and cetyl alcohol are way too high. According to the details, ritamulse should be used between 2 - 10% and cetyl alcohol should be 3 - 10%. When it first goes into the jar the texture is fine but the next day, it's very dry.
yup! if yours is too hard then yes you can make adjustments to the formulas. this is why i share the formulas. that way you can adjust them when needed.

Absolutely love your videos! My only concern is the added Optiphen. This causes eye irritations as well as skin and respiratory irritation, and dermatitis.

hey! so i made this and my scrub completely hardened when i went to use it. do you know what i might have done wrong?
Try using less emulsifying wax nf and cetyl alcohol next time. Those are the two ingredients that creates the hardness. So you can modify the recipe to be the viscosity you prefer by lowering or raising the percentage of those two ingredients.

i love your scrub recipes. Could you add something to this to make it bubble? Is there such a thing as a foaming emulsified scrub? Just trying to think of something to make it foam/bubble without using foaming bath soap. If there is such a thing what would you use?
You can’t add anything to make it lather since this is an anhydrous formula, but I am working on a video all about foaming scrubs so make sure to turn on your post notifications so you can be notified when I upload it. 😁
Can I replace the preservative with phenonib? I will do it now

❤ I have a problem I can’t figure out! I used your sugar scrub recipe, but the oils always separate and come to the top. Can’t tips? The recipe: 1.5g cetyl alcohol, 15g emulsifying wax, 51g oils (20g almond oil, 21g coconut oil, 5g jojoba oil, 5g white willow bark extract) 1.5g optiphen, .75g vitamin E, 1.5 fragrance and 75g of sugar! Any feedback would be sooo appreciated! Thank you in advance!

I’m so confused. In the formula it says 18% of emulsifying wax nf right. And she is making 300g. So shouldn’t it be 54g of that instead of 21.6g ? Someone help. Thank you
So I made a total of 300 grams of scrub, that is including the sugar. but the sugar isn't part of the 100% formula. if you look at 6:44 you will notice the sugar doesn't have a percentage. It just says "desired about of sugar" as people prefer different strengths of exfoliation
I made a total of 120 grams of the scrub base and then added 180 grams of sugar making it a total of 300 grams of scrub.
Hope that clears things up.

@@TaraLeee with regards to the preservative, you don't need it to be 1.5% of the total 300, just the base? If you had 4.5g preservative in this would it be bad?
I have not tried this because I live in the Caribbean and it's hot hot hot... how is it in hot weather

So I tried this recipe and the consistency was amazing and pretty soft but once it set the next day, it was super hard and I know it hardens a bit after 24hrs but it's just too hard for a nice customer experience getting it out of the jar. How would you alter percentages to make it softer?
I had the same problem.. First it was amazing!! So soft and nurishing! But after some days it become stone ... What can I do to be more soft the next time?
Try way less cetyl alcohol. It is a hardener. The brand I use is only recommended to use 0.5-8%. Hope this helps! =)
