- I am finally getting a chance to get those carrot seeds planted. This is how i plant carrots. Easy tricks to help you learn to plant them too!
Tulle from the fabric store is awesome for this type of netting! $1.29 a yard at Hobby Lobby!
I grow my carrots in big pots and use paper towels to protect them.
Thanks very much for sharing from Africa
A special seed saving spot! 🤔 will do. Thx
New subscriber. I found you through Bestyet Journey.
I planted carrot seeds earlier in the spring. The ones I planted in pots are doing okay, the ones that I put in the ground didn’t do much. Well I don’t see any green top unless there’s something growing underground. Maybe the birds got them. 🤷♀️
Same here.
I qas not going to grow carrots but you just changed my mind. Thank you🤗🌍 GCF
Carrots are pretty easy to grow. I love just rubbing my hands through the green tops, while waiting on them to form roots. They are so fluffy and pretty. GCF
I have a black thumb but love to see others succeed! Thanks for sharing
Awww. I wish your thumb wasn't so black. I really enjoy growing my veggies. I have no plants inside. Those i can't keep alive.
The Big Blue House Homestead I even kill plastic plants, that’s how black my thumb is lol
@@cookingwithsherry I used to think I had a black thumb. I even killed cacti. Then I figured out if I just give the plants a minimum of their needs and get out of the way This Stuff just wants to Grow!
Geeky Gardens I always either overwater or underwater I kill them either way! I’m getting better lol
I tried to talk my wife into seed tape but she prefers the old fashion of poking a hole with her finger. Take care and have a blessed weekend.
I thought i'd give the seed tape a try. i'm hoping it works. Have a wonderful weekend!
Haven't done much with carrots yet but that seed tape might work for me - I have a hard time with thinning! But making my own might be an issue right now as TP to make them is pretty pricey.
You could gat the great value brand at Walmart for under a $1. If it is 2 ply, split it and put seeds on one and top with the other side. Best of luck.
fixing to plant mine as well.
I didn't know you grew carrots. Hope all is well with the clean up after the storm.
Arkansas Woodcutter gave you a shout out on my channel. Came over and subscribed.
Enjoyed learning how your doing things.
I use the board method to start carrots as well. I even covered with cardboard until sprouting recently
Good luck with your carrots. Have a great fall season. You have worked hard this summer.
Thank you! It's definitely that time of year to grow carrots again. Hopefully covering the sprouts, and then netting over the top, will keep the birds out. Otherwise, it's back to store bought carrots for awhile. Have you ever grown the oxheart carrots? i heard they work better in clay soil, but i don't know anyone that has tried those.
Hope you have better growing luck your carrots this season. Doggone birds! I would think that the net would help a lot. Will that keep the deer and other little varmints out, too? Have a great week-end!!
The netting should keep everything out! Atleast, that's my plan.
What kind of compost do you use?
I always buy cheap compost. Or even broken bags at a discount. Adding any compost to the soil helps
New friend/sub I am zone 7b too look forward to watching
Do carrots need cooler weather or can you grow them in the heat of summer?
There are varieties that can grow in heat. I prefer to plant them in late summer/early fall, and then when I get my first frost, they are super sweet. So much better for flavored
@@TheBigBlueHouseHomestead It could be January or February before our first frost lol. I'll have to check into different varieties. Thank you for the information.
@@monnanugent8168 I would think that you could plant in November and it would be perfect. You can always throw a few in the ground now, and experiment. 😁💜
That's true. Nothing ventured... Nothing gained... I'll give it a go and see.
