Hello all! There has been some concern and misinformation on this video down here in the comments about us cutting our finds on our new tile saw at the end of the video.
The type of blade on our saw is called a continuous blade, it is a blunt, dimond infused blade that poses minimal harm to our fingers and will NOT chop them off as some of you seem to think. In fact, before we began using our mashine we ourselves watched videos of others cutting agates, some guys we watched touched the running blade with their bare finger to prove it will not cut skin to any extent (It is more likely to graze skin than cut). A blade for cutting wood however (sharpened with teeth) would be EXTREMELY dangerous and would pose an extreme risk. We both wore safety goggles and we were both on hand to turn the machine off for each other if needed. We decided to turn the machine around in order to pull the stone towards us rather than pushing it away so spray and debris from the bade would be directed away from us for our safety.
As for gloves, we have been told they should NEVER be worn around rotating machinery. If (God forbid) they were caught on the blade and pulled into it the outcome could be devastating.
We are both not strangers to power tools and we own a variety of different saws. We are both very capable women and we would not have decided to cut our finds if we had thought the risk was to our safety was too great. Thank you so much for watching and for all you kind comments and concerns! Gail & Alex xx
Although you are clearly capable, sensible women who are familiar and very skilled with small-scale machinery from your jewellery-making, etc, I guess it shows how much your subscribers love & care about you to comment! Thanks for your reassurance and information about the differences between cutting machinery. It's always so calming and interesting watching your adventures, and so beautiful to see the lovely relationship you two have. And thanks so much for taking the covid-safety guidelines seriously!! Blessings from Down Under ❤ 🐨
Thank you for the reassurance,..You do look pro at it even on first attempt, especially Gaiil..& like someone else explained in the comments below it is not like a sharp wood cutting saw..Do take care of the spraying debris through..This was just a first time , am sure we will see yu both do some awesome cutting & slabbing , tumbling to final polished product VERY SOON..Some awesome pieces in there too ...Even the shwoos seem to approve..Good luck !👍..Congrats on fulfilling your wish Alex..👏👏👏🖐️
Aww thank you very much! On reflection we really should have explained more about the machine in the video, I think we had quite a few of our subscribers a little worried haha. xx
@@NorthernMudlarks now they can chill & relax & enjoy watching the pros in action..Take care 😊🖐️
Glad to read you are not risking those skillful fingers of yours! Maybe you could pin your comment to the top so it's the first thing people will read?
Such an amazing adventure and thank you so much for the tremendous shout out 😊 so kind of you both! Makes my heart warm 💓
Thank you Taylor! They were not half as impressive as some of your finds but it was a lot of fun! And you are so welcome 😊💕
@@NorthernMudlarks oh yes they were! Every agate is individually unique so no matter what size or how many bands, they are truly amazing, every single one!
Ladies ...as usual Wonderfull Landscapes and music however ...I would strongly suggest you to find a way to anker the stone saw specially since it has no security stop mechanism ... please be very carefull ...do not play with your health .... take it from me ... I am currently going through chemo and Inmunno therapy and will get all the treatments in the book since the type of cancer I have has no cure ....
So please .... be Wise be Careful ...
🤔🤭😍
@@carolinapilar9 I'm so sorry Pilar...
My favorite one of your videos. The scenery was breathtaking and you found gorgeous agates. Hope to see more agate/rock hunting!
Not all that wander are lost. Some are just looking for....rocks, beads, marbles, arrowheads, bottles.....and miscellaneous bits and bobs!
not those who wander are lost..but I sure am (I have my rocks though)
I never get tired of watching your videos, with all the stress going on this year with covid, its nice to be taken to a beautiful and peaceful place. I enjoy you both so much, stay safe!
Their videos are very peaceful and lovely. The fresh and healthy river(all the little fish!), the beautiful sunshine, and all that quartz and agate, made me feel all warm and nostalgic. My late father and I used to go looking for agate, other semi precious stones, arrowheads, bottles, and other interesting things, when I was a wee lass. Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands, are good searching places for finding "treasure". We went other places, but I only remember the ones close to home.
I look forward to your videos every Sunday 😊
Gail & Alex. Thank you for the amazing videos. I love watching the treasures you find. The gems were gorgeous! Your land is magical! Y’all are great, and I love the Gail quote.....” Everything we get our hands on now we are going to chop up” 😂😂😂😂 love it!!
Thank you so much!
Everything about it Awesome! Agate like I've never seen before! The scenery!, The music! and your peahen comedians lol.
Aww thank you Steve!! Glad you enjoyed this one 😊 The shwoos are funny creatures xx
@@NorthernMudlarks I love them, didn't realize they are so interactive and as curious as cats or maybe more. Sweet Pea Shwoos. Cute
Your are going from places to places and the country side is just delightful. How precious your little part of the world you live.
Thanks again for a fun and interesting video 😁
What a beautiful place. Must be so wonderful to be able to walk along peacefully looking for little treasures showing themselves to you! It’s almost like they are shouting out, “you think he’s pretty, look at me!!!” It’s relaxing watching you and I’m thrilled with you when you find something! Thank you!!!
I subscribed to agate dad. He has amazing photos. Thank You for such fine videos.
thank you realy love your videos you are very very entertaining and love your finds. please keep it up. xxxxxx
Your voices are divine. I'm English myself and live in England, so it's not the fact you are different. You both just sound so happy, so fresh, so lovely xxx
Aw, thank you! xx
Gail I Love your pigtails
Sundays wouldn't be the same without you ladys! Love all you do! THANKS FOR THE AWESOME CONTENT. From Southern Indiana U.S.A. :)
Give the shwoos a back pack each and they can collect some too ... Them gem's look brilliant. .
Darren North LOL
Love old stone building are just the best
The sun was at an ideal level to show your beautiful finds
You both find beautiful stones I really enjoy your videos
Thank you very much!
I'm a lapidary and rockhound. You've got some beautiful red moss agates and black plume agates, as well as the gorgeous banded pieces. You do need to push the stones through the saw instead of pulling them. A piece of bicycle fender over the saw blade will help keep you dryer. Also wear an apron to help keep your clothes clean. Love your postings.
Thank you! We wondered what they were - they are so pretty. We would love to polish them! Thanks for the tips xx
Agate dad and MichiganRocks- best videos
Wow! That is so amazing that you can find all those gem stones. Nice pieces and free to make some jewelry out of too.😀
Hellooo Awesomely Beautiful your garden and the rocks were nice too congratulations on getting yourselves a tile cutter looking forward to many more adventures with you both 👍🏻💕
Another great video, thank you. Just there in time to watch after countryfile, whilst the football was on. I've recently found some nice agates along the Teviot, near Nesbit. I use to go agate hunting on spittal beach, with my family, when I was wee, on day trips to the seaside.
Thank you beautiful mother and daughter. I showed one of your videos to my daughter and my young grandson. I told her how through lockdown i found your channel and it gave me the the outside. I have no yard just a driveway in a block of flats. I really wanted to go to the beach and rivers and the country, the places we were banned to go here in NZ. But you two gave me my freedom back to see it and explore with you. It gave me my dose of nature, and grounded me. All the best, you's are awesome!!!
So glad you enjoyed it! Stay safe and happy! xx
Love your adventures, all of them, love life 🤗 Thankyou 🙆
All the "ooooh's and aaaah's and wow's" are so cute!😊😊😊 I do the same when finding some beautiful things. Love it!
OH MY GOSH ALEX congratulations, I had to pause a moment to look up pink agate because I'd never heard of it, only rose quartz. It turns out pink agate is extremely rare and when found is almost always turned into jewelry so you may have a very valuable find. Good eye. I spent years doing exactly what you gals are doing until I became disabled so I appreciate your videos very much thank you
Now all you need is a rock tumbler ^^....nice!
And that tumbler would work well on that beach glass you find. You would just have to adjust the grade of polishing resin/abrasive you'd use.
I came here to suggest a rock tumbler as well!
@@lorihanlon2525 ^^ x 100
So much respect for keeping up with social distancing 😷
I love the way Alex frames the pictures of the landscape!!! Good eye Alex!!
I love the way you show the countryside and your music❤️
LOVED WATCHING YOU CUT THE OCKS IN HALF
Good afternoon, I so enjoy looking forward to sitting here on a Sunday afternoon watching you guys explore !! Thank you for all the joy and smiles !!! God bless you both,Patty 😇❤️👍🌞
You two are adorable and brave and a bit crazy.!
😊 thank you
You ladies operate that cutting saw like a pair of professionals. That looks like fun and now you will be able to cut bottles and turn them into pencil and pen holders. Thank you for the video.
"It's like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're going to get!"
You do not have to apologize for your lack of geological or gemological training when identifying the stones you find. My college roommate, working on her master's degree in geology was almost totally, unable to name any of the pebbles we found on the beach that I asked her to ID; and I had to show her how to find agates. I, with no geological training whatsoever, knew more than she when it came to rock-hunting.
(TMI, in apology to her) However, after earning that MS degree and a PhD, she did become world-known in her field---identifying the age of anthropologists' finds by analyzing the volcanic ash layers that covered or lay under them.
hi please can i ask u
What is her name I’ve never heard of her
Your music choices for your videos has a spiritual vibe to them, I just LOVE it! You two are so fun watchinng! God bless
I forgot Agate Dad lol I have him on my list too :)
So fun!!! Isn’t it wonderful when the unexpected turns out to be beautiful treasures! Thank you both for a wonderful video!!!
I like that you recommend good channels also, Thanks for that!
What a fascinating video thanks for taking us along with you . Please be very careful with that tile cutter I had to close my eyes when you were cutting . But what beautiful stones 😍
Had a great trip to England planned, than Corona happened. Can't wait for the border to open up again and do my own seaglass and mineral hunting. Hopefully soon now.
Hey ladies. I know that this was filmed a long time ago, and you probably gotten used to your tile cutter by now; however, I would like to suggest using a blade guard or Jai Alai (scoop ball) scooper to gently cover the blade as you turn it on.
That said, Alex's slow-mo face was priceless😂
🙊this is so fun, i love having your adventures to look forward to! sunday funday! 🥰🌸xx
So nature cut and polished that one
Another beautiful video, music and artistry amazing.my favourite Sunday viewing.theres a film maker in there I'm sure. Thank you
Aww thank you so much Andy! xx
I have many beautiful rocks from all over the USA. Most found on trips with my Mom. Oh, how I miss her! Thank you!
Interesting and enjoyable video
Thank you for sharing
I do have to say my favorite is blue & green moss agate... Beautiful!!!
What a beautiful day. No excuse for driving so fast though. You must be able to find whole ones there if you can recognize them. Watch ya fingers. Alex just face up to the fact that your gonna get wet okay? LOL.
Wow the jewelry potential is amazing!
It really is! x
Next time we see Alex cutting stones she’s going to be dressed just like the Gordon’s fisherman 🤣
🤣😂🤣😂☔🌧🌊💧
Sweet! Love agates and the ones you are collecting are outstanding. I am cutting some Brazilian agate today to put into a rock tumbler. It will take 6-8 weeks to complete the tumble.
Great job on the video.
Thank you! We have a tumbler but we use it for polishing jewellery so can't spare it for so long - would love to try it though xx
So beautiful, so relaxing. Once again the lovely Sirens of Scotland take us away from all the trials and tribulations of the worlds woes, and bring us to the wonderful realm in which they abide. Thank you so much Gail and Alex, you bring so much joy to so many. God Bless and please stay safe. With love from Rhode Island, USA.
Aw, thank you so much, glad you enjoyed it! Stay safe and happy xx
Oh wow. I would love a stone cutter and polished ... so much fun! Thanks for sharing 🌹🌼🌹
I love when you ooo and aah in harmony.
Thank you for a really great video, I love how you drive to your destination and the music to accompany the journey. The scenery was so beautiful, with the river flowing and all your exciting finds. What great followers you have that can give you such good information in using your cutter, look forward to seeing you in leather - gloves and aprons for protection. I’m sure some beautiful jewellery will be made from the agate pieces. From a cold South Australia wishing you all the best ❤️🇦🇺 xxx
Hi, love your videos. Glad you are social distancing. I used to be a rock hound. Agates, igneous rock, are mostly formed in volcanic rock. It is like a geode that forms inside holes in lava. After the gasses escape, sediments form the geode, that’s why most agates have stripes or layers that form. They sure are beautiful.
What a lovely spot you visited and all the agate you found , absolutely love your adventures you both are such a breath of fresh air Alex and Gail , cant wait till your next post keep them coming
Oh -- very interesting that you found a place with so few human artifacts -- watching a lot of Time Team it's hard to think of any area in Britain where someone was not living at some point in history!
So glad you were able to get a bonus gift with your extra donations. It seems like you two clever women could do so much with the new machine. Can't wait to see what you create with it! :)
Wonderful video, I very much enjoyed wandering about the river with you. The scenery is lovely. So glad you were able to take the next step and get a tile saw. I'm sure it will make some future videos very interesting. Be safe Ladies.
Thank you very much! So glad you enjoyed it xx
love all the great adventures you two have ,hopefully many more to come.
Thank you so very much! Such beautiful and relaxing scenery!
AAAAAAAaaaaahhhh! The fast forward through the sheep was very exciting! :)
a rock tumbler might be a fun thing to try to polish stones
I collected agates from many places around Angus and Fife in Scotland. Also gold panned in the Angus glens. I also have quartz and Elie rubies Faceted.
Been gold panning at Wanlockhead great fun
Iam hopping to go to Elie/Ruby Bay this September depending on the pandemic to find garnets. Hope to find some big enough to get faceted
They are beautiful..

Glad the cutting machine is safe💕
What a pleasant area you found -- definitely no worries with social distancing! But beautiful landscapes and riverscapes!
I love the landscapes and riverscapes so much...makes me take a deep breath.
You girls found some lovely rocks. Love the look on the shrew's face when she pecked the rock! Priceless.
I love collecting rocks as well. I really enjoyed this adventure. Now I want a wet saw. Lol
I love what you do and I also love the music and all the footage of the country side. If I could live there I would never leave. Love and peace from OHIO
You both found a 'Treasure Paradise' on this wonderful trip.
I laughed so hard when you shone the camera down towards your bulging pockets Alex.
I love watching the pair of you, beautiful.
Hello Ladies! Beautiful Introduction! You did find some treasures ! Have a fine time!
Hello ladies. The stones r just beautiful treasures and nice job cutting them. Alex it was nice to see u with your round up hat, and cute pets. Your property is just amazing with the music and all the beautiful scenery u film for us. Thank you. V.
37:23 The hues of the mixed yellow, red, orange and purple within the plumes of the moss agate/jaspagate are spectacular! some excellent finds! Haha, great to see full pockets and variety of what can be found there! really loved the close up photos. PS try not to breath in the saw mist. A scarf or cloth will help alot if there are not proper p2 rated facemasks available.and nitrill gloves are great to wear to avoid mineral staining of your skin or absortion of hazardous chemicals/elements that may be found in them.I am certain that material would also display amazing depth if cut/polished into a cabochon!
You lovely ladies are just delightful!
Thats cool to think He also looked at the side of the building as you are now.
Thank you for the wonderful video. You have inspired me to get a tile saw for all my geodes.
Alex can you PLEASE make an ASMR video of you talking. You have the most calming voice 😇
Such a beautiful place to rockhound. Love many of your finds.
Thank you for another wonderful video, I enjoyed your finds, it scared me a bit how close your fingers were to the blade, but I loved the results.
Look at you adding pictures into the middle of the videos!
Definitely seeing improvements in your editing with the new laptop!
Yes! Thank you! xx
Yes, l have noticed that too. Can you get a new microphone?
You girls need a tumbler next 👍
Hello from Arkansas, ,USA👍😀👍😀👍😀👍😀👍😀👍😀👍😀

All I could think of when you found the rocks was meatloaf with tomato sauce and raw salmon.🤣 Gorgeous Stones. Great job using the tile cutter too! ❤️👏👏
