I learned to knit on straight needles as a kid, then when I learned this past year, I just started out with a cheap interchangeable circular needles set. Best investment ever.
Hi Natalie! I just recently found your Blog and am enjoying your content tremendously. Thank you for the tour of the Pop up for WAK. Enjoy your week! CAB 😊😊🧶🧶
I absolutely love this tour. I have always wanted to go to NY. And now it seems like you take me there. I sooo love it! Thank you so much for doing all you do. I am sure ALL knitters appreciate you so much! THANK YOU!
I learned on straight needles because I didn’t realize there was anything else. But I learned very quickly and ordered circular. I never finished anything on straight needles. I just did swatches. As soon as I got my circular needles, I jumped right into making a cardigan.
I attempted a swatch for my first learning the stitches on Straights. And then I switched to circulars for EVERY OTHER PROJECT I could (also DPNs). I have never completed a project on straights.
My first ever project was a kit (not by WAK, I got it from the other one - shh!) with straight needles. When I went to my local yarn shop to pick up stuff for my second project (cardigan which was knitted flat throughout), I asked for 6mm needles and when the woman handed me the circular cable I was like 'oh no no no, this project is FLAT' and she was like 'yeah, you just turn it around!' and honestly, yes - I don't know if I'll ever go back to straight needles, it just feels like so much more weight gets moved around - so I was very quick to convert!

After using straight needles for years, I switched to circular needles and haven’t looked back. They are much easier on my hands

Hi Natalie love this clip ,seeing a bit of NY and lots of yarn of course Kaye x
Thank you for sharing. Great yarn shop. Cute shirt 👚.
I’ve always taught new knitters to knit using circular needles, so much easier
this was so cool!! I learned to knit on straight needle but after like 10 rows I switch to circular
That T-shirt 🤣🤣 love it. I think I want to make a chunky yarn cardigan. Looks like it would be a fast knit and something cozy to wear.
Fun! I thought the shop arrangement looked a bit like a climbing gym. I’m really hoping you’ll take us to Purl Soho someday.
Sadly Purl Soho has not yet reopened since the onset of COVID. I’m hoping it’ll open soon, it is a nice place to shop in person.
Thanks Natalie. Really enjoyed this short video.
I am a circular needle convert and never going back.
i love WAK with all my heart i’m so jealous
So cool! I always wanted to visit SOHO. Not too mention New York City
