Danielle is such a huge supporter of the knitting/crocheting community! One thing she did not mention is that during the 5 week government shutdown several years ago she had FREE knitting classes for government employees to help new knitters to learn a stress-relieving skill and established knitters to increase their skill sets! Happy 15th anniversary Fibre Space!
My LYS! True Story: When I was a child back in the early 70's, this was a paint store and my parent used to take us in there. So I thought it was the coolest little building. Who knew I'd spend so much time in here as a yarn loving adult!?
I was lucky enough to work at fibre space for a year when it was on King Street and can attest to how wonderfully special it is. 💙 Danielle's genius never ceases to amaze! Having gotten to visit the current shop with Danielle back when it was on the market and having gotten to help haul totes from the old shop during the move, it's been so fun to see the current space take shape. I'm so glad you got to make a visit!
Fiber Space put together a Barbie movie night where the theater kept the lights low. We could all watch the film and knit! It was so fun (and I made sure to bring a pink project to work on).
What a fantastic store. I wish I could shop there but I live too far away, but thanks so much for showing it to us Natalie. That’s a beautiful calm dog Danielle has.
A LYS in my general area! Actually the DC area and surrounding suburbs (I am counting Magpie Fibers in Frederick, MD) have some really great choices for LYS which isn’t the reality for many cities.❤
I love this store. I usually only get there in person for the Miss Babs event every year, but I’m a regular online shopper! I see their instagram posts and get their newsletter so I love to be able to give them a ring and they send me what I need :) I’m in a wheelchair so I’ve never gotten a good look at the upstairs until now. I had no idea what was up there! Thanks for another great yarn store tour, and it was great to be able to meet you guys on the day you were there. Hugs!! ❤❤
Thanks for featuring our local yarn store! I just shared your video with my yarn group, which meets in the Richmond Highway corridor - I'm sure it will help the people curious about Fibre Space to pop in and shop, or take a class. Great asset for Alexandria!
I love fiber space! I visited them several times at the old location before I moved away, and now any time I'm in the area and have some free time, I take the metro and walk a few blocks to take a look around the store. They have an excellent collection of books and tools to compliment their yarn selection. Most of my little niche tools have come from them! So glad they get to be showcased and shown off to other people who may not know about them.
Hi Natalie and Kent. Thankyou so much for the lovely yarn tour. I love that the owner could do alot of her own things as she brought the building so it has beautiful murals and sheep and seating out the front so it is recognisable straight away and a talking point in the community. A lovely store tour.
My LYS, love it! Everyone is always helpful, knowledgeable very nice and friendly. I have taking many, many clases with amazing and famous teachers in the knitting community. Of course the Yarn!!! Thank you for doing this wonderful tour all over the states ❤
What a great store Natalie, I did a cable cowl with Sea Change Fibers. Love to see all the bright colors. I love when you show all these great yarn stores.
I’ve been going to Fibre Space since it was in the original side street location, and it’s so great to see how successful they’ve become. Even after I moved I try to make it to at least the Miss Babs trunk show every year.
My daughter and I visited Fiber Space this summer. She saw the Truffle Sweater hanging up in ear the Olive yarn and later she bought the yarn and I’m knitting the sweater for her now! I love this store!
My hometown, Alexandria!! I still reside in the DMV, but unfortunately never make it to Old Town these days. :( Should make an intentional trip for some yarn shoppung. ;)
I love Fibre Space!!! I travel to DC fairly frequently for work, and I usually stay in Alexandria so that I can hit up Fibre Space. Great store and super friendly and helpful staff.
One of our many local yarn shops in the DC area. Even though I'm a semi-regular, I enjoyed hearing Danielle talk through the current iteration of the store! I hate that they couldn't feasibly put an elevator in, as I would love to recommend this store more, but I do enjoy popping in every few months!
Oooh, I'm a DMV native, but sadly only make it into Michaels or Joann's these days for yarn. I would love to know what other local yarn shops you know of!
@@TheBibliophagist Sweet Pea Fiber in Hyattsville is my regular haunt as they have a strong makers night as well and Looped in Dupont Circle who has an overlaping makers night with Fibre Space
my first LYS, I'm emotional with memories of the first and second shop - before I moved west. Now, any chance I can go back and visit my pals up there I head to Fibre Space. And I remember the classes from finding you at St. Elmos!!
I love these videos and watch them all, its just frustrating when they say they don’t invest a lot in an online store, for those of us that live far. I get why she doesn’t and there was another recently with a massive inventory that had none at all online, but I wish if they’re going to advertise on a show, they had a better way for everyone to access their items. It really does look like a cool shop though.

My LYS! Love this store. Just an FYI: you spelled it 'Alexandra' in the intro.

I love the puppy so much ❤
Such an adorable shop!! Love the emotional support puppy!!! ❤
I had the pleasure of visiting them for the first time earlier in the year! Bought my first skein of spincycle from them. The Royal Mile, of course! 😊
My home store!
Aw yay!!
What a great shop.
One of 3 stores my knit shopping radius! Glad you were able to visit.

Love the interview but please tell me about the sweater worn?
Absolutely! It's the Terracotta Sweater: www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/terracotta-sweater-2
What other stores are you visiting in the area?
This store is so cool! I wish I was a bit close. But will visit for sure!

I hope to visit the store when I visit my sister. She is about 5 miles away. Love your channel. So many gems around the country. 🧶
Thank you! Right?! So many amazing stores!
