I have been putting Splenda in my coffee for years. It's a "OSE". Never knew. What an eye opener. Thank you Shelly. I'm so excited to start this journey with you.
Healthy living and positive change in my life style and following you Shelly who gives real advice and is genuine and really cares about everyone she interacts with and gives fantastic recipes and advice. Bless you and a happy New Year to you and your family. God bless lovely.
Hi Shelly! Happy New year! Thanks for more great info. I had to stop the magnesium caused some issues. I'm being very good. My oncologist is concerned about pain I'm having. Had 2 cat scans and fasting blood sugar and other blood work drawn. Will be waiting on results. I still say the most decadent thing you have shared is the no sugar hot cocoa! Have a great day!
@@dietitianshelly HI! one hospital is differing in opinion with my cancer team. They say a mass 2.1x4.8cm. My surgeon says there should be no way it could have grown that big in such a short time. They also say a nodule in my left lung. I was told that 15 years ago after the first breast cancer. So... I have appts schedule Jan.21st, mammogram, another cat scan at my cancer center so they can compare to what I had in sept. The pain I am experiencing I have been told is a thoracic spine problem with marked severity arthritic changes since August. So I am taking one day at a time. I thank you for caring. I should know blood work results sometime next week. After following so closely a very good diet I would be surprised if it would be where it was. Thanks again for so much help.
@@HilahSpaethe Oh my goodness - thank you for keeping me posted - I will for sure keep you in my thoughts. Love you are taking it a day at a time - sending you hugs.
I loved this video. ❤❤One caveat though. Our cells are inflammed by sugar and can’t respond to insulin. That’s why giving Type 2 DMs MORE insulin makes no sense to me. We MUST control our diets!!
Thank you for sharing this information. Could you please share some meal ideas and tips for pre diabetic children . Kids normally don’t eat the same things as adults unfortunately.
Allulose can be tricky to bake with as it browns more quickly than other sweeteners and you can burn your items before they're even done on the inside.
Thank you so much for a great video , Happy Healthy New Years to you ,and yes more baking I love to bake ,I just bought the allulose and will give it a try when I make my biscottis 🙏
Thanks for the great tips! What about oats? I hear different views. A serving of steel cut oats with some chopped dates or berries and pecans or walnuts has been a staple for me and keeps my gut happy. Should I limit or omit this?
@ 1/4 cup dry steel cut oats makes about a cup cooked. I always add nuts, usually some dates (they don’t spike glucose) or berries. Could maybe cut amount of oats in half, have a hard boiled egg on the side?
Fantastic content, Shelly! Thanks for sharing this. SO different from my first visit to the dietician 30 years ago when I was diagnosed with T2! I also have a question: when you mentioned that Allulose is derived from wheat, my Celiac flag went up...would that make it not gluten free? And YES, bring on the baking, if you would! Happy New Year, friend! Looking forward to more great content like this!
You are so welcome! Lots has changed! I would stick with the monkfruit - I can research to see if GF selections are available for sure!!! I am so so happy you are here!
Hi shelly, happy new year, i just was diagnosed with prediabetic 5.9 A1c.but my sugar levels 90. I do all u said the only thing i was doing before i was diagnosed i was making my sourdough bread at home with bread flour and ray flour and i didnt know 1 slice has 35 to 50 g of carbs.so sourdough is not good even u are not pre or diabetic has alot carbohydrates

I see date sugar is on the list. What about a date or two a day? They are so sweet, but I heard they are good for blood sugar control.
@@lorriehusker1252 Hi! Love this question - the date is WAY better than the sugar (think of the real fruit and then the juice).
Reversed my diabetes almost nine years ago!

I am going to do a 'baking' video soon - love this tip! I go sometimes a lower temperature as well :)
I agree on that. I have heard if you bake with allulose to double line the sheet pan (use 2) and if it's a cake pan, place it on a sheet pan. Bake 😁
Baking, yes please!
Yippie! I am so excited about this video!

How large is your serving! We do need to balance that out with more protein :).

Try topping it with full fat plain yogurt for more protein.@@sharonnunn3385

Depends on size of the potato, cook method (want to cook then cool) and your carb count! 1/2 sweet potatoes is about 10-15 grams carbs :)
