Happy flying!
Thanks Painless 360 for showing this on radio only. I don't use a Pc for this stuff, it is all done on radio and often at the field when changes may need to be made. I would like to bet there are many other Taranis users out there that are the same. Thanks again
Lee....this is exactly what I was looking for! Thank you sir!!!!
Super helpful thanks. I’ll be sending this to my buddy as well!!
such a legend bro you're actually so helpful thanks
Thank you, I learn many thing in your Channel
Elevator/flap mixing made easy!
First of all, thanx for the great chanel, this is one of the my favourites! My question: What is your solution if you wanna change that weight in the air via like S3? It might be hard quessing right weight, so it might be good solution if you could to adjust weight when plane is in the air, right?
+Junnu Pakka Look at the other mix videos where we use things called 'global variables'. You can also use a slider rather than a switch too.. Best of luck!
Brilliant, thanks.
thank you! very helpfull. your video's are great!
Thanks Painless360 for the explanation. How can you mix flaps to elevator if the flaps are on the SIDE SLIDER ??? It is easy to do with a 3 position switch if used as the flap actuator to elevator because you can set a mix for the 3 positions but the slider has a continuous changing position ??? Can it be done ???
Check out my videos in the OpenTX Mix school. I show how to do that.. Best of luck!
Thanks ,hopefully will stop ballooning on my Tundy :)
Hi Lee, many thanks for all your videos. They are so helpful and well explained. I have a question about throttle elevator mixes. On a standard model I'm familiar with creating this but I've just got a V-Tail model and I'm wondering if it's actually possible to do a throttle elevator mix in this configuration because would the mix affect both the elevator and rudder as they are on the same channel? So if I add a line to the elevator channels to use for the mix, the rudder channels are on the same channel as the elevators so would the throttle elevator mix affect both controls?
The offset you are talking about for the elevator is the same even fro V tails. Simply add the same offset parameter to both outputs that already have the elevator and rudder on and you should be set..
@@Painless360 Thanks for your reply Lee. Much appreciated. I've been using a curve to do this so do I need to use the offset option instead?
Either work but adding an extra line in the mixer for that offset may be easier.. best of luck!
Thanks for the great videos! I have a smoke system in my aircraft that I control with a switch for on/off. I would like to mix it or put it on a curve with my throttle so I can reduce the flow of smoke oil at low throttle setting.
Yes you can. You can add another channel controlled with the throttle and assign a curve to modify its movement..
man I love this videos! So I can fallow this steps to mix for example aleirons with rudder as slave for coordinated turns.
Yep! I set up exactly that for a buddy of mine last week and he loved the way the plane flew afterwards. Best of luck.
thanks
great video, thanks. any idea why once I've done this, I've lost the dual rate capability on just the elevator?
I have a question about that. If I set my max. controll surface deflection with my "HighRate" setting and add the flap compensation I go over the right value. Is there a method to compensate the compensation??? i.e. if the manual says 14mm travel to both sites is HighRates and i figure out that the value +60 is good, I have the range -60 to +60 and mid 0. if i do the compensation let me say about +20 I have now -40 to +80 and mid +20. is there a way to short it that the uper value can't go above +60. I tried something with global var's but i can't figure out what i should do.
Travel limits in the servo screen, happy flying!
Hi there Painless360, I just bought a taranis and I'm still a bit struggling with the radio mixes. Iam used to dx7 radio. If I may ask you a couple of questions, and point me in the right direction. 1-what is the difference in the mixer(insert after or insert before)/ 2- on a tiltrotor I have X8R on Sbus +the analog servo outputs for one of my servo's. What I want is to operate the servo through a switch so I can turn the mix on/off. When switch is on I want elevator not to move in the flightcontroller, but instead the servo must move. When the switch is off I want the elevator in the flightcontroller to move (like a normal multirotor) and not the servo. For some reason I cannot get it right, how ever I got it to work like that on the dx7, because it has preprogrammed mixes. I know you are very busy and would apreciate it tremendously if you could help me. Iam running LBT EU firmware .
The order of the lines in the mixer is the order that the radio will apply them. In practical terms, this almost always make no difference to how the mix works. Please see my 'OpenTX mix school' playlist for videos that start very simply and then work up some quite complicated things. By watching those you should very quickly get an idea of how to do that simple mix for the elevator that you need. More detailed support is available to Patreons if you need it. Best of luck!
Could you possibly do video of this on jumper t16 ? Is the setup different? Thanks mark
It's exactly the same. Opentx works the same way on all radios... Happy flying!
Help! I thought I was getting the hang of this a bit... basics anyway... I'm buying my first plane.. hasn't arrived yet... been flying Quads with the Taranis... anyway, using the wizard I chose a Plane... with FLAPS.. after finishing, it put the flaps on channel 5... when looking at it in Companion... the line in mixes for the Flaps has MAX in front of it.. I can't find any video that talks about this! totally confused now.. What does MAX mean??? would greatly appreciate any advice on this.. or a link to somewhere that explains it... Thanks, Bob
MAX simply means that the channel value isn't related to the value of a control/switch. My using MAX you can set the travel using the percentages and the switch switches between those values you've selected. Hope that helps.
perfekt exakt wath I WAS LOKING FOR.
Lee, there's a typo in the patreon URL in the description ;)
+Alberto Noys Thanks - and thanks for considering supporting the channel...
Thanks mate. That helped heaps! I made a donation too. yell out if it's not enough .
+blairo15 All donations gratefully received ;)
I get confused easily. I have a QX-7, which is sort of similar in terms of the setup screens on your radio. I have flaperons on switch SA, and when the switch is in the up position the flaps are up. What I want is this: When I drop my flaps 15º with switch SA latched in the middle position I want to mix in 5º of down elevator (as a starting place. It may need to be less or more for level flight). When I move SA to the down position for full flaps (right now set at about 20º)I want 10º of down elevator. It would be easy to just put those down elevator commands on a separate switch but it would be very cumbersome to be fiddling with two toggle switches at the same time. What do you recommend? THANKS!
There are lots of ways you can go about this. You can either mix in some of that same switch into the elevator Channel by adding another line in the mixer screen. You can even add it as a special function where those two switch positions change the offset of the flap channel, or there's a couple of others as well... this might be a useful video for lots of people, I'll add it to the list!
Please help me setup my blade 130 on my x7. I cannot figure how to idle up
machined red see my opentx helicopter video..
what video shows doing this in inputs? sorry to keep bugging you... don't know where else to go!

Hi thank for your video but I need video for qx7 radio how to mix channel if you make video for qx7
Thank you
See my OpenTX and QX7 playlists.. best of luck!
Lee, I would happily donate to your channel.. I don't understand what this "pateron" thing is? could you please explain... it's taking me to screens that do not make sense.. like the reward thing.. it's got "no thanks" and $1.00.. what the hell does that meen? i'd donate more than $1.00..
ok.. I think I figured out the Pateron thing..I see it's a monthly thing... How much do most people pledge... are you suggesting $1.00?... that was the default in the amount box...
Again Lee... I have to wonder why you are showing this as the "simple way" ... it makes me think that this isn't the "best" way.. I get the impression it should be done on the "inputs" tab.. if this is true, could you give a brief explanation of why.. thanks.
Bob, what do you mean by the 'best' way? That's different for everyone, some prefer simplicity, some prefer a more complex way that allows them to continue to program the radio without tying themselves in knots. You could try setting this up in the inputs tab, or a few other ways. This method is simple and provides great flexibility too. It allows for mixes to be selected using switches or changed automatically using flight modes, it also leaves the inputs 'clean' so they can be used multiple times in the setup for different situations. Simple answer - best and simple are not always mutually exclusive. : ) Best of luck.
Thanks Lee... I figured it was something like that... I'm new at this so I think I'll keep it simple! this video did help greatly to get the low cell value, I don't think I would have figured that out... I LOVE this radio!! I have a Futaba 10J I paid $350 for.... not knowing what I know now... The taranis blows it away... well... the Futaba does have a nice feel.. great gimbals.. wish I could put there gimbals in the Taranis, I'm hoping someday that someone makes a gimbal upgrade for the Taranis.. saw a video where someone used Aurora 9 gimbals.. would have to feel them before I paid for a set... Thanks Again!
Can't anyone just write step by step directions? I can't watch videos with half the time talking about nothing.
A step by step diagram and troubleshooting diagram would really be helpful.
